Skyrim (Switch) is Remastered version with "PC-like mod support" (Bestbuy.ca listing)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the many third party titles announced for the Nintendo Switch. No one knew what version would arrive on the Switch but according to a listing on Best Buy's Canada site it is indeed the remastered special edition. Not only that but the Switch version will also feature mod support.

The listing on the main site is gone, but the details page is still available on the mobile template.

edit: It's essentially the same text used for Xbox One and PS4 as well.

Being the remastered version was obvious to anyone with a functioning pair of eyes and a modicum of common sense.

I believe the rumour regarding mod support was that it would be the same as the PS4 version.

If i can somehow transfer my pc save to this it'd be a definite buy, but i know that's not gonna happen so need to decide whether i can be arsed to start over again :/

While I was expecting the mod support to be there, I'm still curious if it's Xbox mod support or PS4 mod support.

I'd figure Nintendo would go more for the latter for fear of copyrights and knowing how tough they are when it comes to stuff like that. But they could always end up like the former considering since this is their first foray into this they might not just give a shit.

The current rumor is that the Switch version would have PS4-level mod support. Better than nothing, I suppose.

If that's true, then great. But why wouldn't they just announce it was the remastered version in the first place?

Well it was pretty obvious it was going to be the remastered version even from the original Switch reveal trailer. Its pretty much only the Nintendoomed people that completely derail anything positive and try to spring the worst outcome for everything.

I'll believe it when I see it. Nintendo is very wary of holes in the security for Switch, hench the lack of a web browser.

I can't believe people are still debating this. I thought that the idea the NS version was based on the 360 version was put to rest a while ago. Early rumors for the game even suggest that mod support was in but it was like the PS4 version.

Amazingly, even though there was a thread after the Switch Presentation where the footage shown was compared favourably to the PC Special Edition, there was still someone posting the other day that the Presentation footage was clearly from OG Skyrim. People really see what they want to see I guess.

Yeah. The rumor before said PS4 version type of mods atleast.

Considering how paranoid Nintendo seem to be about the Switch getting hacked (if that stuff about it not having a web browser is true), I'd be surprised if this had even some mod support.

We still don't know if it doesn't have one.
It could perfectly be like the Wii and DSi one; downloadable from the eShop. That way they can update the browser and the OS independently and thus quickly fix exploits.

It's fun how people first was: "this is going to be the PS3/360 version" and now that seems not like that, sentences switched to: "it will have Ps4 like mod support at best...".

Maybe the port will be shit, I don't know, but sure someone is trying hard to find negative things in that.

If I may ask, why?

Because I don't expect the XB1/PS4 remastered edition to run well on Switch without some severe cuts. And personally, Nintendo is the very last company I expect to be allowing third party mods on their kid-friendly platform.

Am I back in 2007?
