Video Guide: Watch Youtube from Nintendo Switch (No proxies or different DNS needed)

Hi guys, i've seen that some people still not sure how to watch Youtube videos from their Nintendo Switch. In this video, i show you how you can access pretty much any website from the Nintendo Switch (yes, even those ones, you naughty boys and girls...).

This method doesn't require any external app or configuration to work, all you need is a Nintendo Switch and an internet connection.

I've uploaded a video to make things easier:

https://youtu.be/FoyqPuALEpE

Please, let me know if you find any problem and if this method has been posted before, please, kill this thread with fire.

EDIT:

Text summary for the folks that can't watch the video:

1 - Go to Settings > Users > select a user > click on Posting to Social media
2 - Click on the button Link on front of the Facebook option
3 - On the botton of the page, select Pages
4 - Search for the term "gmail" and select the first result
5 - Click on the blue button that says "Use App"
6 - Scroll down to the botton of the page and click on the "Google" link.
7 - Change Google view to classic
8 - On the upper part of the screen, select More > Translate
9 - Type the address of the website you want to enter (e.g.: m.neogaf.com) and click on the Translate button to generate a link
10 - Click on the newly created link to access the site
11 - If you want to watch Youtube videos, the original website won't work, i recommend using the site Watchkin (www.watchkin.com)
12 - Search for the video content you want, select a video > click on the spinning circle at the center of the screen > press Play and enjoy!

EDIT 2: Just to clarify, it does work on the latest firmware (Ver. 2.1.0), the video was recorded after i updated my Switch.

Thanks for sharing. So internet browser functionality is built into the Switch already, but they haven't created an "app" to enable it...

I'm assuming Youtube has problems running due to the decoding method it uses?

Finally a solution for all those people out there who have a Switch and an internet connection but don't have a smartphone or computer or XBox One or PlayStation 4 or Vita or Wii U or tablet or

Stop it. Some people just want to use the internet on whatever device they have on hand.

I was unable to sign into Neogaf. I got Google error 400. Any workarounds?

Watching YouTube videos on my Switch now, and the media player is pretty well implemented and fleshed out. Goes to full screen and the buttons activate shortcuts and everything.
Pretty clear the functionality is mostly complete but they're probably trying to patch potential exploits and the like.

Nintendo HQ stopping any game developing right now and diverting all its personnel towards the development of a new stability patch scheduled for later today.

If Switch is absolutely the only way you can access internet at any given time then this should come handy for those interested.

Otherwise seems way too cumbersome to bother and should try to find a better solution -device- to browse internet.

Guys, keep in mind that this method is just to show that it can be done, of course it's much easier to use another device for now. But after some practice, in less than a minute you are ready to browse any website.

So basically buy one of those systems instead of a Switch? Gotcha.

It's fairly obvious from the look and feel of the interface for posting to Twitter and Facebook that the Switch has browser functionality built in. My guess is that they're holding back activating a lot of this type of stuff until the mobile app and online infrastructure is completely ready.

I mean, going through Google Translate is going to screw up a lot of web pages. The DNS method is a lot more effective if you want to play around. (Obviously, neither is a good solution for actual useful web browsing).

Having played with the browser quite a bit on launch weekend, it's pretty buggy. I'm assuming Nintendo just wants it to be more stable before making it more widely/easily available.

Go through this awkward and weird setup to do something anyones phone or tablet can do better.

Sounds great.

We've been down this road dozens of times. It's perfectly reasonable to want to watch YouTube/Netflix/Hulu on the Switch.

Sure, but some people just like to do stuff because they can.

And then, of course, there actually are people who don't have a smartphone or tablet. Is it that hard to imagine, say, a kid whose only device to watch Youtube might be a PC or tablet that's also used by other family members?

Or how about just a person who's away from their house and didn't bring another device with them?

I don't know if I'm doing this wrong, but it's not working for me.

I get to google translate and when I click on the link generated it says "The page you have attempted to translate is already in English". If I click "See original page" it says "This page cannot be displayed."

You have to choose two different languages in the fields "From" and "To", otherwise, it'll show the error you are getting.

Oh I see. So everything is actually just processed through Google translate. This just got a lot less interesting to me. I was going to see if I could get Plex working.

I mean, shouldn't Nintendo have just fixed their security issues rather than make the system lack a browser and YouTube and other various "expected" pieces of software on a tablet-like device?
