They've stopped even pretending. The US Embassy in the UK is promoting Mar-a-Lago on its website.

How is this legal? This should be starting the impeachment process. God, Republicans are blind or really just don't give a shit.

Mar-a-Lago, President Trump's Florida estate, has become well known as the president frequently travels there to work or host foreign leaders.

The first meeting between Trump and President Xi Jinping of China will take place April 6–7 at Mar-a-Lago, which is located at the heart of Florida's Palm Beach community.

Trump is not the first president to have access to Mar-a-Lago as a Florida retreat, but he is the first one to use it. By visiting this ”winter White House," Trump is belatedly fulfilling the dream of Mar-a-Lago's original owner and designer.

When socialite and cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post built Mar-a-Lago — Spanish for ”Sea to Lake" — in 1927, she spared no expense. The 114-room mansion sits on 8 hectares of land, with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and an inland waterway on the other.

Upon her death in 1973, she willed the estate to the U.S. government, intending it to be used as a winter White House for the U.S. president to entertain visiting foreign dignitaries.

Does Trump own Mar A Lago? From what it sounds like, it was left to be used by all presidents.

He bought the property in the 80s. Fun Fact: His original bid on the property was declined, so he decided to bid on the land between Mar-a-lago and the ocean so that he could block its view. Then Mar-a-lago's property value declined and he swooped in.

Some had to decide to update this website. What was the reasoning? Who made the decision? Where was that conversation? Shit boggles the mind.

Sneaky fucks trying to make it sounds like this is just Trump following someones lead.

If Hillary was President, and her resort was on a .gov site, Republicans would so be calling foul. The hypocrisy is amazing to behold.

They deleted the page. Ooops.

Art of the deal?

The U.S. State Department has removed its promotional posting about President Donald Trump's Florida resort, after a storm of ethics criticism Monday.

In an April 4 blog post that was republished by several U.S. embassies abroad, Mar-a-Lago was described as "Trump's Florida estate," where he has hosted foreign leaders. "By visiting this 'winter White House,' Trump is belatedly fulfilling the dream of Mar-a-Lago's original owner and designer," the post said.

Left unsaid: Mar-a-Lago is part of Trump's business empire. After his election, the resort doubled its membership fee to $200,000. As president, Trump has visited the property seven times, and its restaurant fills up when he's in town.

The State Department said late Monday that its intention was "to inform the public about where the president has been hosting world leaders" and that it regrets "any misperception." That statement now appears in place of the original blog post.

The White House did not respond to questions about whether it had any involvement in the original posting or the decision to take it down.

....

The Mar-a-Lago post was nearly three weeks old but gained traction Monday when several people noticed the U.S. embassy to the United Kingdom was featuring it. Sen. Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat, asked on Twitter why taxpayers are "promoting the president's private country club" and referred to the incident as "kleptocratic."
