Best Mouse for PC Gaming? 2017

I'm in the market for a new gaming mouse. Any recommendations? Is wireless a viable option at this point? If so, I'd prefer wireless. I'm righthanded, large hands, and use a fingertip grip.

I see there was a thread about this last year, but it feels like a TON of new gaming mice have emerged over the last 6-8 months. What's the consensus on the best gaming mouse, GAF?
 
g403 (wired or wireless), gpro.

For a cheaper option and a known shape, nixeus revel.

Anything with a 3366/3360 sensor, really. No reason to buy anything else. We finally got a godtier sensor with almost no flaws.

Do NOT buy a logitech mouse besides the logitech g pro if you shoot stuff in games like counter-strike, Battlefield or similar. Then you want a Zowie.

If you don't care about shooters and handicapping your reflexes on purpose is fine, go ahead and buy the logitechs people are recommending. G900 is really fine.
 
Logitech G Pro if you prefer a small, light, symmetrical non "ergonomic shaped" one

just like the old normal trackball ones design wise, but with the best sensor

What type of games are you going to be playing? Is this for general PC gaming or are you going to be focusing on FPS's, if so are we talking multiplayer competitive games?

G900 is a great all rounder, and is the only mouse with wireless capability that does not introduce any latency or input lag.

However if you're playing FPS in a competitive manner that changes the story and other mice are recommended.

Because if you're serious about competitive FPS then you want a mouse that is light and simple, one that focuses on tracking instead of flashy features or shapes.

The G Pro and Zowie (especially the EC2-A) are usually recommended, especially by pro gamers, the sensor, shape and weight makes them the best performers for most pro gamers.

Personally I own a G Pro and it's made my aim much better, I used to own a Logitech G700 and god that thing was a rock compared to the weight of the G Pro, also the sensor was jerky as hell. I'm considering the Zowie EC2-A in the future as I think it might suit my hand better.
 
That G900 mouse is really ugly. Won't a lot of crud and skin cells build up in the huge crevices of the device?

OP, if you want wireless, I'd get the G403. Simple, ergonomic shape. 3360 sensor.

edit: Mice look like space aliens these days. what happened to mice looking like mice?
 
I've had a Logitech G602 for about two years now and it's probably my favorite mouse I've ever owned.

Wireless mouse, 8 programmable buttons (6 near thumb, 2 on edge of leftclick button.) What started as a feature I figure I'd barely use became something I can't live without for even basic web browsing. Buttons for history forward+back, tab forward+back and align windows left+right make maneuvering around different windows feel incredible to me.

Setting up different profiles via the Logitech Gaming Software is very easy and super customizable, individual profiles for each game you play with automatic switching between profiles. Options for battery life: performance = higher polling rate with less battery life, endurance = lower polling rate but great battery life. Runs on either 1 or 2 AA's. Get several months out of 2 AA's on endurance setting easily.

I only have a couple issues with it, one being that the wireless receiver can be finicky at different ranges in my experience. I use so many wireless devices all on 2.4ghz range, and when the receiver was plugged into my tower maybe 3 feet away from my mouse, the mouse would sometimes lose connection for a quick second, would happen a few times a month. I have a USB hub right on my desk some 10" from the mouse, and since switching the receiver to that hub I have had 0 problems in about 3 months. Anndd the other problem is that the middle click seems to be the first thing to stop working well under heavy use. My last one worked for about a year and half perfectly before I needed to press harder for the middle click to register. Ended up selling that one and picking up a fresh 602. Been working well so far.

I'm the clueless guy that started this thread and even I can tell you from a simple quick Google search that the G Pro uses the same sensor as the G403 and the G900. The Zowies actually use a slightly outdated sensor from what I can see.
 
I used the Logitech MX518 for years. Finally decided to upgrade and got a G502. I love it and hate I didn't get it earlier. I have larger hands and it fits great. Plenty of buttons in places that's easy to hit, but not so easy that you accidentally press it. http://amzn.to/2pCKBbd
 
I've reviewed a lot of mice, and the Logitech G900 is the best one I've ever used, period. Much lighter than many Logitech models, fantastic shape for a medium or large hand and unrivaled click feel. Far, far better than Logitech's Prodigy series in design. It's definitely the right choice for wireless.

The G900 dethroned the Deathadder, for me, which I'd still recommend to anyone. There's a reason Razer doesn't mess with the shape of that mouse even as it regularly introduces new models or reworks old ones: they know not to mess up a good thing.

If you prefer a really minimalist design -- small, light, pretty flat--the Logitech G Pro, a Zowie model or other similar mouse will likely appeal to you. But you're not "handicapping your reflexes" by not using one. So much of the testing/common wisdom in discussions about gaming mice is apocryphal.
 
I have and love the Steelseries Rival 500. Works as a good hybrid of features and simplicity. Has a lot of extra buttons but they are not obtrusive for when you're playing a game that doesn't make use of them. So I can play WoW and bind a bunch extra and then hop into Overwatch where I've just got 1 or 2 binds and I'm not having to hover over a dozen unused keys. And IIRC it's in the middle of the Steelseries price bracket.


Though in general I recommend Steelseries overal. I've used the Sensei in the past, and liked it. I had an issue with the Sensei Wireless where the side buttons stopped working very early but it was in warranty period and got it RMA'ed very quickly and easily.

Sensors are all so precise at this point that its not important anymore. Weight is the most important factor for precision aiming, and logitech produces little rocks. That's why they introduced the G Pro.

Logitech makes great mice, great for rpgs and strategy games for example, feels great in your hand, but just to heavy and slow if you want to play competitive overwatch or Counter-Strike.

Mouse click lag on earlier FK1 models and inferior sensors to all of Logitech's newer offerings says otherwise.

G403 and G203 are very good for those games. G403 even comes with a wireless option.

It's viable for Quake which requires more aiming mechanics than any of the games you listed and is perfect for larger hands like the OP has.

I have both an FK1 and a wired G403. Sorry but FK1 is simply outclassed. You can feel the difference in the sensor.

3310 sensor.. it's slightly worse but if you want something with zowie's shape.. there's no option with a better sensor, really. The problem with zowie's mice are the switches, i never liked them.. they are hard as rocks. I'm not sure if the lastes series has different switches.

So if the wireless capability doesn't add any latency or input lag, why would playing an FPS competitively change the story?

I do play Counter-Strike & Overwatch, but it's not like I'm a pro or anything.

Is the gpro texturized? I'll never buy another one with rubber texture, as they tend to wear off pretty quickly, like my Steelseries Diablo mouse did...I prefer something like the white Razer Taipan.

What do you recommend?

Eh, idk, another quick Google search shows me that the G403 is 90g and is a medium/large mouse. It's actually lighter than the Zowie EC-A series mice, and right in line with the Zowie FK Series mice. Also lighter than the DeathAdder Elite. The wireless G403 is heavier but at 106g it's still a pretty light mouse.

No weird coating on the grpo, just plastic with a decent grip. There's the cheaper version (g102/g203) with a glossy cover.

106g is one of the heaviest mice you can find.. something that's very hard to get used to in a game like cs. I played for years with a heavy mouse to get used to it. It really depends on you and your grip.
 
G403 has arguably the best shape.

I have the wireless version, but I've had the mouse cursor act very weird while on my desktop. It can have the tendency to stutter uncontrollably, but I suppose it's not enough to be a deal breaker for me, since it never happens in game.

I never said they have different sensors. The 3366 sensor is the best sensor out there right now but that doesn't mean the Zowie's have a bad sensor, if the pro's aren't having an issue with that I don't see why other people might have an issue with them, they're both great sensors.

Sensor talk aside, it comes down to hand size, mice shape, and weight. Whatever feels best for you, in your case since you're focusing on wireless the G900 might be the best for you but again, no one can say how you will feel with it's shape and weight.

No matter how accurate the sensor might be, if you don't feel comfortable moving the mouse around your aim will not be as good.
 
G900, G Pro, G500/502.

I went from the 500 to the 502 since I wasn't sure if it was my mouse fucking up or PUBG auto weapons fucking up. Apparently it's both lol.

But yeah, Logitech with the gdlk warranty replacements, etc.

Very first product in this thread i recommended was the Logitech G Pro so... no? Just after after using Logitech all my life and switching the product a year ago I cannot recommend going back to the heavy style Logitechs.
 
I got a Zowie EC for Xmas and it regularly doesn't detect movement when set back down. This is a real problem when playing games, and I'm going to have to replace it or figure out a solution. :( So I don't recommend it.

My previous mouse was a Logitech G5 and the drivers would regularly crash, so I had to use it without drivers which was fine. Maybe that's not an issue anymore, though. I had to replace it when it started double clicking randomly, but it was nearly 10 years old, so that's understandable.
 
If your willing to spend a little more I can vouch for Roccat, they have a wireless model in the leadr, that I havent tried but the Kone line is top notch, puts the flood of logitech answers your going to receive to shame. Ideally go to to computer parts store where you can handle a bunch of different mice, ergonomics are a little subjective.

I mean, I don't mean to call you out, but you literally said Logitech mice "handicap your reflexes", and implied that they don't "focus on tracking". You then went on to praise the Zowie because of it's sensor. So you can understand why I'm kind of confused here.
 
This thread just convinced me to buy a G Pro considering I cheaped out on a 'gaming' mouse when I built my PC last summer. Also amazon.de seems to have a sale on Logitech items as we speak..?

Now I also want a new keyboard.🤔
 
A lot of mouses are good, it goes down to preference (Shape, Weight, etc). Just buying the mouse won't make you a better player instantly or anything.

"Gamer" things are unfortunately ugly. My monitor looks like a velociraptor, it's hedious

I have a G502 and I don't like it cause it's just got too many buttons. Other than that it's a great mouse.

The wired logitech g403 is 90g, the zowie ec2 a is 93 if i am not mistaken.

The wireless g403 is 106 and the g900 is 107. Unless the guy decides to become a pro i am pretty sure the wireless option will be better for him.

I have the g900 and i love it. I was thinking about getting the g403 but i decided i want the better scroll wheel and the extra buttons on the g900 because i will not only be playing games and i am very happy with that decision.

I was waiting for the Roccat Leadr but it got delayed to mid of May and i couldn't wait any longer with the crappy mouse i was using.

Imo this is a great channel for mouse reviews.
 
G900 or G502 for me. I don't care about competition whatsoever, but I do care about it being precise. I can say both of these mice have been incredible for me, and I have no complaints other than accidentally changing the DPI settings (which happens to me on every mouse I use).
 
For the OP, Logitech G403 Wireless, probably. I've been seeing great reviews.

For wired, I like the Logitech G Pro and the Nixeus Revel, but I prefer the ergonomics and the materials used for the Revel. Since I currently don't have any ergonomic mice, I'd get the new release of the Roccat Kone Pure (I've read it's the most similar in shape to the MX500/510 mice) or a Logitech G403 wired.

Just a plain, and effective, gaming mouse.

My favorite mouse of all time though is the GOAT Logitech MX300.

The MX510/518 series was pretty legit as well. Used one for years.
