Paradox opens new studio focused on mobile titles

"Paradox is committed to exploring new territory in mobile game development, and I’m eager to lead that charge," said the company's SVP of innovation and mobile, Kim Nordström.

"It's important that we bring aboard the right people -- people capable of delivering the kind of hardcore strategic titles we're known for on PC. Games like Prison Architect: Mobile are just the beginning."

Pretty exciting. Prison Architect is already a great start

Well, good luck to them.

I don't quite see how grand strategy would fare on mobile titles .. perhaps they won't focus on that genre for that platform? Maybe something like Magicka.

What are other titles of theirs that would translate well to mobile?
Their grand strategy games (Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Stellaris)
Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny (since Baldur's Gate and other cRPGs have already been proven to work well on tablet)

At the very least, I expect a Crusader Kings 2 mobile

Why not, that's like the perfect genre. Turn-based, menu-based, no complex maneuvers required. CRPGs and 4Xs are already established genres on mobile

Crusader Kings sounds like a good choice but I would flip if they brought Tyranny to mobile.

Mobile games are only supposed to be 5 minute time wasters, didn't you know?

Imho, grand strategy works but games like C2 would get slaughtered. They would have to streamline it to a point where is almost doesn't resemble ck2.

You mean UI-wise or gameplay-wise? Games like Baldur's Gate, King of Dragon Pass, Starbase Orion, Prison Architect are already menu-heavy and were transplanted nicely to mobile. I don't see why CK2 would be so impossible
