The upcoming Kamen Rider summer movie called "Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: True Ending". Apparently takes place "some time after the events of the series" where Emu enters a VR world after ninjas have been infecting people with game disease. In this world he sees his friends and familiar faces but with different personalities and occupation, as well as the evil Kamen Rider Fuuma. Kuroto Dan provides him the VR machine as well as the Mighty Creator VRX gashat (based on VR games and creator games like Super Mairo Maker).

The movie has a partnership with Sony PlayStation. Apparently the movie is filmed with a 360-degree camera and will have a special release in Playstation VR.

Here's how I see it - the movie will probably come out in a "normal" theater, then will also have a VR release that shows the 360-degree movie. And it will probably like Spy Kids 3D Game Over where the VR world will feature this, but the "real" world will feature normal view.

Also might as well advise it - come watch Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. It's fucking amazing right now and it's ongoing but it's in it's final third of the series (already at episode 34). Don't let the suits and colors fool you - it's serious and dark in tone.

Man, I only ever watched the first few episodes; I've been spoiled for stuff but I should catch up...

In any case: hopefully the movie's good, since their quality varies pretty heavily; I enjoyed Ghost's despite not enjoying the series itself much, though seeing it unsubbed in a movie theater probably makes that a special case.

LOL, "serious and dark in tone" compared to what, exactly? Legit question. Gaim didn't fuck about, and the first half of Heisei could get pretty dark. So where are we at in terms of seriousness? Someone give me a benchmark?

Also, fuck Toei. I just want my Riders to not be overdesigned trash heaps, is that so much to ask?

Seriously? Don't let the suits fool you. Also after the Lv3 suits, they've become better. Genm Zombie Gamer, Para-DX, Perfect Knockout Gamer, Maximum Gamer, Fantasy Gamer, and Cronus are all good suits personally.

And let's see, there's already a high death toll early in the series, villains aren't holding back on killing children, and the whole video game motif works with the theme of mortality, which is the main focus of the show.

Someone made a good write-up on why Emu is a great Rider in /krg/. He doesn't care for his own smile but cares so much for the others that he is willing to give his own smile, he was naive but learns quick enough that he doesn't let people push him, and he has the quintessential Rider suffering.

I like how this is an alternate reality movie while still being canon to the series.

Ryuki was that too. Also most movies since Decade kinda are.

There's a major character death in the first 15 episodes, much like Gaim. If you liked Gaim, Ex-Aid is similar in many ways: It's a very serialized show with many different rider characters.

Also, while there are some shitty looking suits in Ex-Aid, the good-looking ones are damn good. Check out Dangerous Zombie.

Emu's pretty meh IMO. He's not bad, he's just... Meh.

Granted, I just finished Blade where Kenzaki had a similar motivation and really delivered on it in the last couple episodes. Maybe Emu will do the same.

Emu is eh at first but he goes balls deep midway. He does the "frustrated and dead inside, but marches on for others" acting really, really well.

Also Ex-Aid so far has the main writer writing the eps, and the pacing is really fast.
