Need for Speed Payback - Gameplay Trailer

Looks awesome.

So many racing games this year so good they made this into a mix of NFS, Burnout, GTA and F&F.

Would have prefered seeing a cop chase in the open-world but man this is dope. Everything I wanted after Most Wanted in 2005. More of the over the top. Yes!

EA are definitely killing this franchise off. This looked terrible. All they had to do is improve from 2015, not throw most of it away and double down on F&F.

Big and heavy pass.

Best wishes.

nice to see the drift, hate how forza is such a stiff game. please give us the ability to turn off slomo cam, it takes away from the racing.

on my radar, don't fuck this up.

They have no idea wich direction to take. Probably next game is totally different again.

They made this look pretty rubbish in fairness...I hate the cutscenes in the middle of gameplay to then jump back to the gameplay.

Eugh

The guy at the start of the reveal was so god damn cringey too, he didn't even know what to say

Ugh. Old man mini-rant incoming..

I loved the first few need for speed games. My mates and I would lose hours playing it together but our interest started waning with the introduction of the boy racer stuff, seriously I'm not interested in decals, bodywork and all that nonsense when I never see it due to using the bumper or behind the wheel view and now they're going further down the Fast and Furious route. Just no, no I won't be buying this which is a pity as I have a great fondness for the series as it was.

If you're into this kind of thing then more power to you, it looked rather pretty (though that takedown camera would wind me up no end) but it's just not my thing.

Controls seem still as bad as 2015. Why the fuck does the car 'straight' itself after each turn? It's so stupid.

I sure will play this in EA Access though.

Burnout Takedown/Revenge + Fast & the Furious. I see the wordplay now. "Revenge" might also mean "Payback".

The characters are cringe, but give me UGII level garage customization + online and I'll forgive you. Missing pure arcade racers so much with all the sims/simcades in the market. This is really playing good, hope it ends up the same way, particularly at launch.

Okay this actually looks cool to me - I'm a big fan of the underground games, the old most wanted and even liked the new hot pursuit. I skipped the last few games but this appeals to me as I love F&F and enjoy the cheesiness and hopefully customization of it.

They've confirmed offline mode right?

So... F&F the game... and there'll be those "crash cams" during gameplay?

Fuck this, I'm out.

I want NEED FOR SPEED, not this shit.

Over done cheesy dialogue

Too much Fast n Furious/Burnout/Grand Theft Auto crap going on

Why oh why is that Koenigsegg Regera spitting flames from the bumper and not the exhaust right at the end?

Not a true NFS title, looks naff.

Pros:
- Pretty
- Seems fun
- Takedowns!

Cons:
- VA is poor and waaaayy too frequent
- Cutscenes are too frequent
- Slowdowns last for too long
- Gameplay sections seem too short and will probably be interrupted constantly which is terrible for driving games which are supposed to be basically pure gameplay

That will just be for the story missions.
There will be various races and events outside of the story no doubt.

God that VA is gonna be annoying but I like what I'm seeing.

I actually liked The Run but this somehow sounds more annoying.

This reminded me of NFS Rivals and Hot Pursuit, which to me are my personal favorite NFS titles in the last decade and both were developed by Criterion staff, the makers of Burnout. So I am in day zero!

Atleast it looks better than the shit stain that was 2015. Instead of being an outright drop off for the franchise like that, this looks like what the next game after Rivals would have otherwise looked like. THat is, another soulless, cops vs street racers affair with no real personality behind it.

The last NFS i actually thought was good was Hot Pursuit 2010. instead of making a new game, i'd love a remaster of that for PS4 and XB1 with all the DLC.

NFS has the same issue COD had with futuristic titles and modern warefare before it. Franchise fatigue with nothing new to shake it up.

EA have to know that the cops and cinematic shit was good, but not after like 5 or 6 years of the same shit

Looks... alright. All I want from NFS is a FAITHFUL return to the gameplay and style of the original Most Wanted. I can still pop that in my 360 and have so much fun.

Wish they would go back to that just once more.
