Starlink: Battle for Atlas (open world space sim, TTL) announced for PS4/Switch/XBO

Well, another Pachter failed prediction, he said no western 3rd party on Switch if it wasn't on last gen.
Might be interesting but I need to see more.

Snowdrop again - that engine is doing work on Switch.
I'll be interested, maybe, if it's fully playable without buying / strapping toys to my controller.

They offer digital versions, so thankfully no need for the plastic things, because it looked quite interesting. Waiting for more details though.

Turns out when you actually bother porting your in-house engine, it makes it easier to bring games to the Switch. Whodathunk?

The toys on top of the controller reminded me of this:

The game itself looks interesting, but I don't have any interest in the toy aspect at all. Make it fully playable without ever having to mess with those and you have my attention.

this looked SO COOL until the fucking figurines

I really hope it's still playable and fun without the toys

also can this really be called a flight sim? seems more like an arcade space shooter to me.

I had interest until the toy aspect. Unless there's a way to get the same things in the game without DLC after DLC to even play it.

Seemed too much of a hassle to be changing parts of a toy while playing... But at least the ship physical models looked good... I guess.

They said you could use physical or digital stuff to upgrade your ships. So possible toys are optional, here. Which would be very nice.

Made me feel like I was seeing a Titan A.E. retake, or something inspired by Jayce and the Wheel Warriors or something. Not bad. Nice to see something besides Mario that wasn't mega-sweary.

I need to know it this can be played without fucking toys before I'm getting even remotely hyped, because having physical stuff mandatory would be a HUGE dealbreaker.

I wonder if the ships is feeding into the Star Citizen whales and the visuals is feeding into the No Man's Sky aesthetic.
