My Xbox just went Deadbox on me.

Seriously WTF Microsoft!?!?! I hear the 360s being produced even in late 2006 are braking down. I cant see why Microsoft cant make the 360 a little more reliable, i mean its not the most advanced hardware on the market, of all consoles I would expect the ps3 to brake down but no the middle-man 360 is crapping out. I dont hate the Xbox 360. I love a lot of the titles and im looking forward to many games(Banjo 3 ftw) but will I have to go through another 3 xboxs before I can play them. This is the first console that has ever broken down one me of the ones i own(NES, SNES, n64, Dreamcast, ps1,ps2,GCN,Wii). I hear that Microsoft is making some sort of new cooling system for future 360s...is this true? If so, tell me more please

Microsoft purposefully made a defected console to raise their hardware numbers. They're taking a page from Sony last gen

Microsoft were so forward thinking installing an error light. It's almost as if they knew 360s would break easily...

Actually, that is a perfect post... or not? I mean it seems like you're completely neutral. You could say you're a n-tard, but by not mentioning anything about Nintendo, you stay in the safe zone. Good job

Are that many people buying brand new replacements (as opposed to getting it fixed or returning it) so as to skew the numbers any reasonable amount?

We already have a freakin' thread for this. More than one, I'm sure, but one, at least, is definitely not yet locked.

Systems die.....It happens.

My PS1 died, but my 360 still lives on. Do I get mad at Sony for making a defective system? No...

Game systems die. Thats why you should be happy for the new 1yr warranty.

NO game system has been played more than my 360. Between myself, my brother, and my friend, we have OVER 1,000hrs on Oblivion, about 300hrs on Madden 06, 200hrs on Call of Duty 2 + about another 500-600hrs on all the other games I've played or owned (I have about 60 games on my gamercard right now). Never have I had any problems. Even when I discuss it and I supposedly jinxs myself, nothing happens.

Fact is.........Some systems die, some live. Like I said, I have over 2000hrs on my 360, and runs fine since Nov 22 2005. My PS1 lasted 5 months just playing FFT and RE2 for maybe 100hrs. My N64 died getting zapped by a thunderstorm. It happens...Use the warranty.

Why dont you just call microsoft, you'll probably get it replaced. Who cares about your xbox.
The generic immigrant phone monkey picked up my call. My warrenty does not cover 3 red lights...wtf I heard of M$ accepting 3-red-light replacements all over the internet. Was this guy mistaken?

That's stupid. Of course they replace 3 red ring units. That's a hardware issue! Stop bitching and just get it replaced. Call again and ask for a supervisor.

Both mine, and a friends, launch consoles broke down last week...

3 red lights.. these were made nov 2005 but consoles made in late 2006 breaking down is just really bad. Makes me think the X360 DESIGN is flawed and will only be corrected in the next major revision of the hardware (this summer?)

Love everything about the X360 except for the crappy, loud, easy to break hardware.

Everyone using a warranty from EB and the likes (Futureshop, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys R Us etc. etc.) actually raise the sale numbers.

Mine broke 2 days ago. It was my second 360 since Nov 22 2005... I'll get a 3rd one tomorrow (using EB's replacement warranty) so I count for 3. But, I'm ****ing tired of spending money on a shitty broken hardware so I'll probably sell everything 360-related soon and get one when all the problems will be gone.

Wake me once it's quiet. I have to turn in my PC because the chipset fan became on angry buzzer.

Dont deny it. If you have ever been on the phone with someone from 1800-4-MYXBOX then you should know. The people there can barely speak english and its even harder to hear them over the amount of sound in the background.

My Wii has crashed more than my 360 so far. :/

I can't afford a PS3, even if I could there aren't any games worth playing long enough to make it crash.

Next gen can burn in hell.

The sound of 360 fans burning out? :D

How did I do? ;)

Wow, this is all such new news.

If you really have a defective 360 (which I rather doubt), call and get it replaced. End of story.

If you're really having trouble communicating with the "immigrant monkeys" ask to speak to a red-blooded American supervisor.

Then how about saying it like that, instead of calling them "immigrant phone monkeys"?

:lol
Alot of thunderstorms lately is confirmed

I never had a system die on me, got SNES, PS2, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Wii, GBA, DS Lite, PSP etc

My launch 360 has had a crap-load of gameplay time thrown at it and it hasn't fluttered an eyelid, still working (touch wood). Seems either you get eternal life or about 3 weeks.

Actually though, I've never ever had a console that has broken on me, and that includes my launch PS2 and Dreamcast.

I look after them though. From my experience while I worked at Game, most faulty consoles are caused my neglect. The faulty ones were always DUSTY as hell, or stank of smoke. Smoking and electronics DO NOT GET ON.

Care to explain this?

So I got a 2-year warrenty when I bought my Xbox 360 thinking that if it broke I would be able to get it replaced right? Wrong. Even though I had a proof of purchuse and all that the Best Buy refused to replace my broken 360. I asked the manager "So then this is a useless 50 dollar warrenty that I was lied into buying?" He replied with "Yes." I told him to "F*ck off" and I left the store. When I got home I got on the phone with Microsoft and theyre sending me "the box" to return it in. 1800 4 MYXBOX was convient actully, no complaints. A lot better than waiting 30 minutes for the manager of Best Buy to get off his ass just to tell me my warrenty is useless.

Is that carpet I see underneath your busted 360? I can't tell with such a crappy picture.
Yes it is but I always play my 360 on the surface of a wooden table. Its on the carpet because we moved the table earlier this morning. I know better than to put consoles on carpet.

Got proof?

When I used to work at gamestop when I was younger that was the way it was. next time you are there, ask someone that works there, it doesn't count as installed base.

Sure thing. I got a Best Buy warrenty with my 360 thinking it would save my ass if I ever had a probelm but as I explained in that thread it was a no-go. At that moment my 360 was suffering constant freezing and I called Microsoft about it, they said they were going to send a box and all would be well. This morning I called and used the "Check the status of a repair" from their phones menu. I found out they had no record that I ordered a repair box. Anyway later today my 360 seemed to be going fine, was just playing some live when it freezes and I had 3 red lights from then on. When I called microsoft I tried to re-order a repair box but the guy said their policy did not cover 3 red lights. I believe he must be mistaken because everywhere I look it seems as if 3 red light is covered in their warrenty. I think the guy must be new there or had no clue what he was talking about. I'll try and call again and post my results here.
