The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild "The Champions' Ballad" Story DLC Announced

Would be cool if you got to play the back story from the game. I hope they don't re-use the games final dungeon layout.

Also Was it known that DLC1 was coming June 30?

I'd think there'll be new additions that explains more of the Champion backstories.

New dungeons would be nice.

Edit: Oh Transformation Masks a la Majora's Mask would be a good way to implement the new characters.

Seems like you play as the champions (and possibly Zelda?) 100 years before the main story, which sounds damn good to me. It should allow them to use the same basic map with enough changes to significantly alter the feel of the game (e.g. Hyrule Castle still stands and acts as the game's main town), similar to what Undead Nightmare did for RDR.

Wow this is most likely exactly what I've been wanting. I was dying to dive into one of the memories and play a segment. So awesome! I hope we play as Zelda, also.

I was super disappointed that there's no Kass amiibo.

Oh well, that shot with husbando is fine enough for me.

I'm thinking it's a more fleshed out backstory or you play in the past with the events leading up to Calamity Ganon but you know, without modern time gameplay.

My only complaint with BotW story was that, since it was told through fragments of Link's memory that you could only see, you couldn't get as attached to those characters and events as if you actually played the entire thing. If the dlc lets you play the 100 years ago events they fixed even that.

I wonder if this will go into the direction I always hoped for, that you basically play what happened 100 years ago, as the champions, including zelda. basically a recycling of the whole world or parts of it.

Somehow the GOAT gets GOATier

How can they tell a story in the past without drastically changing the overworld? I wonder if this DLC will be self-contained in a new area.

So Master Mode Changes the enemy layout as well? I've been there but I don't remember the monsters showing up with octoballons.

you are only gonna use them in very specific places of the overworld or inside the beasts..these are flashbacks,so they have a reason to strip the freedom away since those things already happened.

Playable Champions would be ace. And I'm guessing the amiibo would let you play as them outside of whatever "story mode" they'll be available in.

Gotta get me that Urbosa.

I don't think this implies playable champions, but do I think it will take place 100 years before.

Which is fine, I would love to explore pre-Calamity Hyrule. Maybe even see how Link got the Master Sword in the first place, play through the memories, etc.

A prequel? So... they're really not going to address the extremely unsatisfying and lacklustre ending of the main game? I mean, the only silver lining was that it was the perfect set-up for an expansion,
travelling with Zelda to Zora's Domain and repair the malfunctioning Vah Ruta
.

Instead, for the 1st pack we get some uninteresting, silly challenge shrines that has zero added value, in addition to stuff that you shouldn't even charge for (Hard Mode, etc.).

Do we know we can play as them though....?

Adding 5 playable characters sounds an effload of work

with all the emphasys on each and every champion,i'd say it's clearl hinted that we can play as them..

also both dlc packs weight 3 GB, there has to be some more meat in terms of assets

There is no way you'll be able to play as those characters in the rest of the game (If you even can play as them in the DLC)

It will be just for the DLC "Area". Mark my words. People are setting themselves up for disappointment.

Who else would we play as if it's set in the past? Past Link was only equipped with the Master Sword and Champion's Tunic in all of the flashbacks, it wouldn't be as fun. I would rather play as the Champions with their weapons and abilities.

I'm fine with only playing as them in the DLC but unlocking something in the main game.

As Breath of the Wild is now one of my favorite games of all time, anything extra I can do (besides finding 900 Koroks) I am all about. Bring it on!

I was disappointed that the chapion´s had so little screentime during the game, I´ll love if the DLC gives us more time with them

The game is dependent on the Sheikah slate, so IF you are able to play the entire world, it would be with Zelda since she has the slate in that era.
My guess that the other characters will only be playable on certain segments and not the entire world.
