Resident Evil 2 Remake coming soon?

Soon to me means it's been announced and in the pipeline. I don't take any promise of release window from it.
 
It'd be nice to see Capcom do what they did with RE7, and announcing (in this case revealing it) 6-7 months before release.
 
On one hand it wouldn't surprise me if it's still 2 years or so off, but to be fair they've been pretty good at getting Resident Evil games out not too long after being announced. That doesn't necessarily mean anything here, but maybe it's a bit closer than we think.
 
With RE7 set to carry the franchise this fiscal year I don't see it happening until after April 2018+.

If it's a remake and not a Remaster then it should be treated as a big new game. Right now Capcom has its full big game release slate for this fiscal year.

Could be wrong though and I'd like to play this ASAP!
 
Interpreting exactly what he means by "soon" is pretty impossible to do, given that the interview was conducted through an interpreter and we don't have his answer in the original Japanese.
 
as far as i'm concerned they can take all the time they want (within reason of course). RE2 was my favorite, i want it done right
 
Would be amazing if they can nail January 2018 for the 20 year anniversary, but I don't see that happening realistically.
 
I'd be excited but it feels like japanese console games take so long to make now that an announcement means it's 4+ years away at best.
I'll be excited when there's an actual release date for a game now.
 
As I say a lot, I still believe in Summer or Fall 2018. TGS or PSX reveal.

And yeah, Capcom should take their time. I would love unlockable Ada or HUNK campaigns too. (Or DLC if they must).
 
It was greenlight 18months ago.
Not 1st shown.
Not premiered.
Not world wide exclusive trailer.
It was Literally put into production less than 2 years ago. This thing ain't coming soon.

People really need to calm down with this game.
 
They're using the cheapest non-union VAs they could find. Not exactly a swan song project IMO with that being the case.

My excitement dipped when I heard that and dropping Alyson Court.

Pretty much.

Hoping to see something soon though. A nice little trailer at TGS would be nice.
 
RE2's 20th anniversary is next year, so I wouldn't be surprised if they at least try to get it out that year. That could be realistic assuming they're doing what many want them to do and simply make a significantly prettier version of RE2 rather than changing its gameplay.

So, a trailer or teaser at TGS or PSX this year would make sense. I'm sure there will also be a GotY RE7 that features all the DLC, and the could include a demo of the game with that.
 
ReMake 2 @ TGS, DMC5 or Dragon's Dogma 2 @ PSX. I can live with those. ReMake 2 arriving 1/2018 and DMC5/DD2 10/2018. I'd be ecstatic!

Alyson Court was already dropped for Revelations 2, so Capcom obviously wasn't going to bring her back for the remake, and yeah it absolutely sucks. Her and Sally Cahill (who was also dropped for RE6) should be invited back. But this company loves switching up voices for existing characters in the Resident Evil series so it's nothing new unfortunately.
