My one qualm is that it should have been a gif of the guy rubbing his hands together. It just conveys the sliminess so perfectly, as if Monolith is totally aware of how this is being perceived.

you would be surprised how much of the stuff in these games while clearly NOT canon, is very very compatible with canon. There is a guy who did a 45 minute youtube video with sources going super into depth on how it could all fit without really straight up contradicting lore in most cases. It's pretty impressive.
