Konami is officially the worst company on Earth

So I ordered Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow off Amazon thanks to this thead and what I get in the mail today is this:

what the **** is this?

Amazon doesn't even specify it has this lame cover on it. In fact, it shows the original.

It's a picture of a picture of the orginal box art and case. I might have been satisfied if it was only the red bar, but this doesn't make any sense. If you're going to reprint a game, leave the cover alone! They seemed to grasp this concept when reprinting ZOE2, but they must have hired some Greatest Hits idiot now.

Luckily, only the cover is ruined, the instructions and game cart are fine. Now I have to buy a used copy of with the original just to get a new cover.

Die Konami.

I'm really not one to care -too- much for covers, but I must admit the person who came up with this idea seemed to have been a little bit out of touch with the concept of practicality.

i guess i'm confused, what is the complaint exactly?

EDIT
nevermind i see now. why would they do that exactly? it doesn't make any sense.

That's definitely up there in pure cover art stupidity with Nintendo putting "Best Seller" on Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door when it had just been released.

A number of rereleases of games in Japanese bestseller lines have similarly scaled-down and uglified covers. Apparently Konami has decided to extent this pleasure to American gamers as well! :lol

Its like they took the Japanese budget release box art for this title and wanted to make sure that you're purchasing a Nintendo DS game while also letting you know that it's a Konami game by having the company's name on the cover three times.

Seriously, they went from having some of the greatest box arts from the NES days to this...the pic is still hilarious

While it's true that it's Amazon's fault for not updating the boxart on their website I dont quite understand the hate of wanting actual covers for things on a hardcore game site. From the perspective of a collector those covers suck and would warrant a return from me (I'd rather spend extra to get a mostly pristine copy with real coverart from ebay). Printing out a new cover doesn't fix the problem from a collector's perspective. Also these crappy covers have a much lower resale value, if you want to do that years from now, for the same reason.

I never buy used games that don't come with original box art and manual. I certainly wouldn't want to buy a new game with those problems.

Plus it just looks like ass, and I tend to not like things that look like ass.

Shush. Keep talking like that and someone in this thread might just fall off their high horse. The injuries would keep you up at night!

Dude you're lucky. When this game was rare, I had to buy it used from EB.

It came with one of those stupid placeholder covers that some idiot with a sharpie scribbled the title onto.
