Jetpac Refuelled Coming Next Week to Xbox Live Arcade (3/28)

In Jetpac Refuelled players must clear a path through hordes of aliens to refuel their ship and amass a fortune over the course of 128 hi-definition levels, complete with achievements, leaderboards and simultaneous multiplayer action. Compared to the original Jetpac, which included 16 levels, Jetpac Refuelled provides players with everything they loved in the classic, and much more.

“Jetpac Refuelled” can be played alone, or against another player on the same console or over Xbox LIVE. The game will be available worldwide for 400 Microsoft Points and is rated “E” for Everyone.

Game Features

Includes two versions of the game
Retro – The classic 1980s version
Refuelled – Rare’s 2007 remake of the classic Jetpac comes complete with entirely new hi-def graphics, menacing enemies, new smartbombs that produce an electromagnetic pulse, modernized weapon upgrades and updated gameplay for modern gamers
Earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points
Completely updated graphical look of the game gives Xbox LIVE Arcade gamers a truly hi-def and in-depth gaming experience

Great news. If Microsoft can keep this pace and pricing structure up, people will be hard pressed to say anything negative about the XBLA service.

I am all for retro titles as long as they get this next gen treatment that this game is getting.

while DK64 was a okay platformer.. Jetpac and DK Arcade totally sucked
 
I've been playing the game on partner.net, it's a lot of fun. Not really amazing looking, but it doesn't look "cheap" either.

I'm talking spectrum. Rubber keys FTW!

It was a massive hit on spectrum, and will probably do well. I`m sure we'll see some other ultimate play the game titles from rare. Happy days!

The original was one of my favourite game on my ZX Spectrum. Can't wait for the new edition :)

Oh, and the image on my Xbox Live account (Magiustra) is Jetpac related :)
 
After seeing this, I think Rare should turn some of their 3D franchises into 2D XBLA games. A 2D Banjo and Conker would rock!

But Rare really needs to remake Wizards and Warriors first. :D

The only problem is that Acclaim retained the rights to the game. If no one bought it, then the game rights are probably in limbo right now. I'm not sure if Rare was even called Rare back in those .

I remember checking out the auction where all the rights were being sold. If I recall correctly, they didn't list who bought it, but someone definitely picked up the entire series
 
Hopefully this leads to HD rare stuff. It should sell well, its pretty, and while I never cared for the first I'll probably try it again.

400 pts is a good deal. Looks like people are finally figuring out the pricing structure on XBL. No more bullshit like 1200 pts for crap like Roboblitz please.
 
Since it's a retro game, 400 points isn't surprising, but it looks like Rare definitely went beyond what Digital Extremes and the like have done with other classic titles.

I said it was my first Castlevania game, and the game does not explain anything about the inventory, weapon, resource or leveling systems.
 
Being a rather old player, I am extremely happy for Jetpac. so many good memories of my childhood.
rare is an extra security that the game will have very nice details and nice controls et all. price is also best.
so overall this is very great news!

farnham are you saying you played the donkey kong arcade version on xbox arcade?

I downloaded every single donkey kong game from wii online looking for the arcade and was disgusted.
best version on wii was one old console port missing around 25% of the game (1 out of 4 levels)
lousy controls, stupid sound effects and didn't even have no "wiiiah" when mario jumped. very bad. disgusting!

so where did you get to play dk arcade version? you know if its coming soon or what?
 
looks pretty cool.

I just want Karate Champ, sometime in my lifetime. the two analog stick make it so obvious of a game to remake.

Rock n' Roll Racing would also blow my mind! :)

no, he was referring to playing it in DK64, along with Jetpac
