Metronome is a 3rd person adventure game where sound is your weapon. Explore the city of Metronome in search of proof of the Corporations secret agena, while listening for sounds to record, and use them to fight enemies, solve problems and confuse citizens. Team Tarsier revealed that it has put Metronome on ice, and moved on to other projects for the time being.

Was really looking forward to this one.

They were doing work for Ageia PhysiX cards, etc. I'm sure they have plenty of that kind of work now that they started and the project may not have been signed.

Not enough one of those:

- space
- marines
- baldness
- guns
- whores
- car jacking
- aliens
- WWII
- "War" in the title
- emo music
- hip-hop music
- rap music
- shiny armor
- bloom
- JUICE
- waggle

That really, really, really, really sucks. :( I was just wondering what had happened this game, since nothing had really been said officially regarding it being still in devlopement or not. Damn shame.

this sucks and the thing that pisses me off most about this is that the team mentions that the original concept seemed "too risky in the eyes of publishers".

Damn... we need more games with unique feeling and scenarios. Where are the games like Grim Fandango o Pshyconauts?.

Saw an interview with these guys on a local gaming show a couple of weeks ago. The guy said they had been doing some work to get a portfolio so it would be easier to get a publisher for Metronome and he promised the game would get released.

welcome your NEW AGE OF GAMING overlords!

Björn: The original City of Metronome concept seemed quite risky in the eyes of a publisher. A new team combined with a game that had unproven "weird" ideas for gameplay and took place in an environment unlike any other game

And this, lady and gentlemen, is the big (not big, HUGE) problem of this industry.

How shit is this? I've been following this title ever since 'twas announced, and it always seemed to me that it was a very innovative game. Let's hope it will be ready someday...

Meh.

Just seemed like another Sadness, ie, lots of noise from a team with no budget in the vain attempt to get their game made.

The only difference is that Metronome at least had pretty concept art.

While I don´t share the common negativity around Sadness, Metronome had a proper public show, with renders, concept arts and a presentation video. Is not comparable.

And, could you explain me exactly where is the problem of a novel studio trying to put a foot inside the industry? especially when their offering looked great? I just don´t get what´s wrong with that.

Sadness is in a whole different boat. Sadness is some guys who had an idea and hired a developer to build a prototype. The developer quit the project and the idea guys are now looking for someone to take over. Sadness is vaporware.

City of Metronome went through all the traditional paths for a game to be picked up by a publisher. They had a design, built a prototype, shopped the idea around, went to trade shows to give presentations. There is a WORKING build of City of Metronome. Interest was low, so they needed to take other products or jobs in order to stay in business.
