Mad Tracks Coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade Tomorrow

3D racing party game Mad Tracks will be available for download beginning Wednesday, May 30, at 9:00 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. Pacific Time).

From the media alert just posted:

Players can race through 15 challenges consisting of nine mini-games and six different races behind the wheel of one of 12 sleek compact cars. “Mad Tracks,” from Load Inc., features 12 power-ups to keep engines revved up and players in the fast lane ahead of the competition.

“Mad Tracks” will be available worldwide (with the exception of Korea) for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated E for Everyone.

Game Features

* 15 distinct challenges (6 races & 9 mini-games) provide a full-fledged racing game experience
* 12 stackable power-ups (rockets, freezer, oil drop, EMP and more!)
* 12 sleek looking cars to choose from
* 4 player multiplayer over Xbox LIVE and 4 player local multiplayer via split screen mode
* Championship mode & Arcade mode
* 2 free gamer pictures
* Earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points

Define "mini-games". Is there any kind of Battle Arena Mario Kart-esque modes? Six 'races'? Does that mean six tracks, or six races along 3 styles? Is it always 4 player even against the CPU? Ability for Reversed or Mirrored courses? Is split screen able to play 2 peopel + 2 bots?

So six big tracks for 10 dollars is no good? Most racing games only have 2 or 3 that people like anyway.

I am not saying you shouldn't have high expectations (I do)...but come on.

Yeah, I'm a little concerned about the whole "6 races" thing. Because if that means 6 tracks, that's disappointing.

6 tracks is highly generous for a $10 game. We used to spend $50 for one track with slight variations.

Yeah, but my thought is, if 2 or 3 tracks out of a 20 track game are stellar, a 6 track game might only have one great track. Or maybe with a smaller focus, they're all great! Just wondering what the game offers.

I think I'll throw down the points for this game. Should be fun.

I really liked the PC version and considering how much more time they had to polish .. the game should be in pretty good shape.
I'll likely purchase.

Yeah but this is 2007. Gripshift on PSN has literally hundreds of tracks to munch through. I can understand 6 environments, but I would expect more than 6 tracks.

GripShift PSN only has 25 race tracks, as all the other 125 "tracks" are single player levels which aren't really suited to multiplayer racing.

I think the limitation for Mad Tracks is that each track is custom built whereas we had the advantage of modular track components with GripShift which keeps the file memory footprint down.

Woohoo multiplayer! Wasn't this the one that everyone was pissed out initially because it wasn't supposed to have it? Could be fun.

I heard about this game at a hip hop club. The DJ kept saying something like "I got Mad Tracks son!!!"

Who would've thought these guys are beta testing XBLA games.

There will apparently be two extra track packs, each with a further 15 "challenges"

That is a bit worrisome, from the Joystick.

They also say to keep a lookout for new tracks coming soon. The Bravo and Encore expansion packs are coming in the "near future" for 350 MS points ($4.37) each. The expansion packs will include 15 tracks each and extra mini-games. Think there might be some way to just combine it all and not make us relive the Lumines debacle all over again?

I hope they're not getting a bit ahead of themselves with the "encore" pack
If an independent has a great game that's worth the money, I say let them run with it.

Look at Team 17, they get ultra moneyhats from Worms HD by publishing it themselves on XBLA.

Damn this had to come out the same week as forza, why couldnt it come out last week when i had nothing to play. :( Still gonna pick it up, barring the demo doesnt suck.

Yeah I'm not sure why companies do this...it would be best IMO to fill in the gap between big game releases of similar genres. What was the last one, Boom Boom Rocket released the same time as Guitar Hero 2 360? Bad move!

any1 got any impressions? i'm stuck at work :-(

Aside from kicking you to the menu, its an AWESOME Live game. Single player is decent. Live is amazing. On a scale of buy-not buy, i'd rate it a buy.

Yup. Called it a night, told fatal and gowans but i haven't got your msn i'm afraid. I'll add you then.

does it hold up against micro machines or mashed for example? ( reading the summary of mad tracks it looks like a micro machines clone)

Its very close to a micro machines, with added twist that pickups add to the mix. Playing online is a blast with friends it seems all modes are online too darts fussball etc.

I'll be buying after I get annoyed with the Halo 3 Beta for the day, if anyone wants to add me for some LIVE gaming my gamertag is Twin Twi5t

No tooters on the cars make me sad.

I had a lot of fun with it,

Its centred alot more around mini games than I expected.

Its a pain in the arse that it drops you out of a lobby between each game tho.

but in the end better than Fuzion Frenzy & cheaper too, tho playing online with a good crew is a must. :D

The 1 player is Meh at best. I could see this game being really fun however with friends online. I didn't have to much fun playing Quick Match, or single player but I could see it's potential with friends online. They need to sort out the sound a bit, and some physics issues but it's good all around. I will for sure be playing more when some friends wake the hell up.

Just played the trial and I don't like it at all.

Just feels like a cheap shareware game. It ain't got nuthin' on Gripshift.

I can't wait until we see more games from the big publishers like Price of Persia XBLA because I'm getting tired of this indie stuff now.

Unfortunately I found this extremely dull and boring, such a shame as I was really excited about it.

its another one of those games that you really have to be in multiplayer in a good room with 3 other friends to get the best out of it (cough Ageis Wings cough)

Ignoring the trolling part of this for a second...

That's the only problem with XBLA demos for games where the best part of the game is online.
