Is it wrong to think Madden 08[Wii] will be the better version?

I don't know why (maybe its because of all the exclusives) but the Wii version of Madden is very appealing to me..I've never really looked to Madden as a graphical showcase (like some of the Madden fans on this forum do) since its..a sport game.

Anyway just hearing that Madden 08 will have a good online (with no friendcodes either), 23 minigames (and from what I've heard from impressions of the first game, the minigames are a blast) and of course the single player game.

Interviews, previews have been pretty favourable aswell.

BTW the game doesn't look to bad either..

and IMO actually looks better than the Xbox version of 07..

Just thought the game was worth a mention as it doesn't get much attention around here :\

Did you play the 07 version?

Controls were really great, and there's no reason to believe they won't be even better this year.

However, this thread is doomed.

I just wish to God that the crowd looked better. Good graphics are fine, but I'd rather have a game that merely looks decent and doesn't take me out of the experience every time I look into the stands and see a crowd that basically looks like they were cut out of paper.

Anyway, I liked the 2007 version. I haven't played many Madden games in the past despite my affinity for the sport, but I hear that EA has this weird propensity for regressing with each subsequent version. There are things that could be improved this year. The kicking controls weren't that good, and while I liked the idea of some of the modes, the setup felt like it was some fan game. But I don't exactly have a point of reference to compare.

Isn't there the ability to draw on screen like John Madden in this version of the game? I think I saw that somewhere.

I haven't played a football game that I've actually enjoyed since Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES--it's simplicity it what made the game for me.

Would you (anyone) recommend Madden 07 (or '08, since it'll be better) to someone like me?

Way to contibute to this thread! You deserve some type of award for a post of this stature.

GT stated that the game was the best next-gen Madden (07) even though there was a lack of online.

This thread doesnt have a bright future. Let's face it, not many vocal gaffers will care because of graphic alone and let it be the end of that.

those guys are stupid imo. who wouldn't want to play madden with their grandmas?

Will be interesting to see how it fares in reviews against the 360/PS3 versions since this year was allegedly the year the sorted the next-gen versions out. Most outlets gave Wii '07 the higher score right? Usually only by 0.1-0.3, but still the highest score.

Ye the Wii game was given the higher score despite the lack of features.

I think it's pretty much a lock that the Wii version is gonna be the best one, (It didn't even have an online mode and it was still considered to be better than all the other versions!) This 2008 one for Wii is a massive upgrade from the first one (Which was already considered to be excellent and the best version of the game)

I have no interest in Madden (Or American Football, pfef! That's not real football, that's just a bastardised version of Rugby!) but I find it funny that GAF and MS are raving about how the 360 is gonna have the superior version of Madden and it's gonna crush everyone when the truly superior one (And the one that's gonna truly crush the competition) is the Wii version :lol

Well, the ps3 version sold as muhc as the Wii version.

It could be used as a negative but the figure basically showed that the Wii's userbase is diverse enough that it can support the same young male demographic that the PS3 has along with the Nintendo fans and everyone else because overall software still crushes the Ps3's.

Madden Wii 07 sold like crap because it didn't recieve advertising, neither did the Ps3 one. This year I think all 3 will be advertised well since the Ps3/Wii have a respectable userbase that can push the game over 500k each and the 360 one going over 1 million.

800k sales for the 2nd Wii version of Madden would be a good step in the right direction, methinks. :)

I think Nintendo themselves should advertise it. ^_^

I think EA should as they should know that it would sell on the Wii. I think its pretty stupid that EA hasn't advertise the good games its made for the Wii. All SSX,Godfather and MoH have bombed. While on the other hand games that were advertised, like Tiger Woods, sold great on Wii (Appearing in the top 20 US at one point)

My brother, who's a big Madden fan, I think really enjoyed 07 on the Wii. It wasn't his main version and he didn't play it that often, but he seemed genuinely pleased by it.

Personally, I think both sales are skewed, as they released three months after the other versions. Actually, Wii sales have got to be considered a win for Nintendo. I don't think Madden ever did more than 200k on the GC, so they basically doubled their sales for a product that was in a worse position. If the Wii version can come anywhere near 800k, I think that would be incredible for Nintendo, even if sales still fall behind the 360 and PS2 versions. The Wii doesn't have to surpass other versions, but I think having a much better presence for the sports oriented gamer combined with their success with the casual gamer would do wonders for them.

It's times like this I wish we had more access to North American and European sales numbers, I know damned well Tiger Woods Wii did damned well worldwide, even more-so for a super-late release. ~_~

I think Tiger Woods is very impressive. Lack of figures suck, but it's still 10th in the UK according to Chart Track, and you know the brunt of that is the Wii version. And wasn't it around 300k in the US?

Yup it was around 300k in the US...I can imagine it doing a further 100k-150k in Europe.

Madden 08 Wii - FTL

The sales order will be

PS2

360

PS3

Wii
PSP
DS

It's okay though, you have plenty of good non-sports games to enjoy and the success of the wii sales. Stop trying to see things that do not exist. Nintendo fans have proven over and over and over again that they do not like to purchase EA Sports games yearly.

Heh, this sounds like a good recipe.

A) Start with our "Wii would like to play" stars

B) Add a pair of famous football stars, scoring a touchdown in game

C) Throw in a wife and son joining in against them (using the wii madden's family play mode)

D) Mix with wife and son scoring a touchdown on "the big guys" (while they look in disbelief)

E) Watch as the 360 and ps2 versions of madden start sweating bullets

:)

What so now this gen Sony fans don't like purchasing EA sports game aswell?

I wager you a week banning that the Wii version of 08 will sell more then the Ps3 version worlwide. I say that with much confidence, much much confidence.

Not at all, I loved 07 on wii and this seems to be quite a lot better with more refined controls, more mini-games, family play and of course online.

What? Then how does the online/friend system work in Madden?

im 100% getting this as well, but sadly I hate the fact that the rosters are outdated by day ere is hoping EA has roster updates from the get go. In that image above Cullpepper is the QB for Miami when for 2 months now we have know he was leaving..

Forget all the mini-games and whatever, just from a control and audible standpoint this game is far superior. I just hope this year they make a motion for time-outs.

Actually, all versions of madden on the cube averaged between 3-500,000 copies sold when it was all said and done. Seeing as how the last years Wii version did about the same, now that its being released at the same time as the other versions I think it'll do better than that.

I have a 360 and a Wii, and I'll be buying the Wii version. Motion controls + simplified family controls means I can finally play again, and my brother is hyped for it as well.

I love football, I just hate how complicated the controls have gotten over the years.

It seems like every day now there is a topic made by a Wii fans complaining about their games not getting the shine they are supposed to. I think I just saw one about Metroid not getting any hype. Stop being so defensive about your console, people aren't getting hyped for certain games because Nintendo would rather push non-games, and is clearly not going this "hardcore" route. The lack of hype is representative of the fanbase.
