Philadelphia has the ugliest people in the country

Philadelphia has the ugliest people in the country, according to Travel & Leisure Magazine.
Of the 25 major American cities ranked by citizen attractiveness, Philadelphia finished dead-last.

According to 60,000 respondents to the magazine's online survey, Philadelphians are slightly more repulsive than Washingtonians (24), Dallasites (23) and San Antonions (22) but way uglier than Miamians (1), San Diegoans (2) and Charlestonians (3).

"This is the city of Fabian and Frankie Avalon and Grace Kelly," said City Councilman Frank DiCicco. "Are they saying we've morphed into ugly people over the last few decades? Somebody's drinking something out there."

DiCicco took issue with Travel and Leisure ranking Miami's beautiful people No. 1.

"My oldest son, the dentist, had a condo in Miami so I've been to South Beach a few times," he said.

"Most people are walking around in thongs so everybody looks good there. But who can tell who lives there and who's just visiting?

"We have cold weather here so we're walking around for months with our noses running and our cheeks red and fur caps on our heads. How can you see what we look like under all that clothing?"

"They've got to be kidding!" said Councilman Darrell Clarke. "South Beach? How do we compete with that? I mean, give me a break!"

Upon further review, he said, "I'm a single guy so I can say, in all honesty, that while I don't traditionally look at men to determine how attractive they are, I can tell you that we have the most attractive women of any city."

Rick Vopper, senior stylist at the Adolf Biecker Spa/Salon on Rittenhouse Square, where he has been "enhancing the natural beauty" of Philadelphians for 31 years, said: "I'm going to disagree with the idea of ugly Philadelphians. I think we're much more diverse, more multicultural with our appearance than the synthetically pretty people in South Beach."

Frank Farley, a psychologist at Temple University, said: "People may perceive Miami to be a younger, hard-body city and Philadelphia to be an older, stodgy, historic place with a lot of losing sports teams. Did I say that? I didn't say that.

"The missing ingredient is reality. When I walk around Center City or the campus of Temple University, there are attractive people all over the place. It's a melting pot. It's vibrant. It's beautiful. The beauty they should be looking for is the beauty of diversity."

"Miami's gross," said Leslie Rooney, 22, of Northeast Philadelphia. "I think Miami's the dirtiest city I've ever been to. Even the people in Miami, they were pretty hit-or-miss."

Victoria Morillo, 31, of North Philadelphia said: "It's disappointing to see that Philadelphia was ranked [last]. I mean, besides the stereotypes that we're, like, the fattest city, we eat all the cheesesteaks and stuff, there's still some good-looking people up in here."

Roger Bradley, 47, of Hunting Park, was "quite surprised by that [the rating] because being a Naval reservist and having an opportunity to travel around the country, I've found Philadelphia to be as attractive as any other city I've gone to."

Fred Glick, 51, of Center City said, "If Minneapolis [No. 8] beat us, it's because the [magazine] guy went around with cute girls there, because they're all born blond with blue eyes there. Maybe it's something against brunettes and redheads.

"I hope we're closer to the top of the list for brains. It's more important."

Philadelphians ranked 14th for intelligence, handily beating Miami (23rd) - but, alas, those blond, blue-eyed Minneapolitans ranked second. *

I guess it must be the entire state of Pennsylvania, because the people in Pittsburgh were heinous, too.

AND I'm from Illinois so I'd know.
 
I was just in Philly like last week. No fucking way is this right. :lol

Why does every chick have blonde hair there, though. o_O Seriously...most of the women had some type of blond coloring in their hair.
 
Yeah, there are a lot of great looking girls in Miami, I have a field day when I go down for the WMC. Minneapolis has all blonde haired blue eyed girls there? Shit I know where I'm moving!!! Wonder how NY did. Saw a few really cute Asians down in Chinatown today :D
 
I live in Philly. I can attest to the truth of this. I'm the exception of course :D

I went to a public highschool in Philly and there were maybe 10 hot girls out of the 3000 students there. When I went to a small university in the burbs, I was fucking shocked at how many hot girls there were.

As far as attractive people, you shoulda went to the South Side. Drunk college girls. Pretty hot. Pretty, pretty hot.
 
Having spent ages 2-27 in San Diego and ages 27-31 in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, one thing I've always been sure of is that when I traveled, the people would be a lot uglier than what I've become used to.
That said, the only city in PA I've been to was Pittsburgh. (ugly people, BTW)
I'd have to rank the Pacific Northwest, and especially Oregon as the ugliest, though. The only people that were good-looking moved there from CA or were on vacation.
 
This survey was CLEARLY taken the week I was out of town. There's simply no other explanation.

Seriously though, this is clearly bullshit. There's a dozen places I can think of off the top of my head that are FULL of "OMGAREYOUKIDDINGME" hot women, as far as the eye can see.

Seriously though, I know a lot of good-looking people who live near Philadelphia. I guess they only counted people in the city or something.
 
I can't say I see many ugly people day to day. I see plenty of people that aren't exactly lookers, but I think ugliness is a fairly unsual case.

I mean, how many people would you say are really ugly? Like it hurts your eyes to look at them? Maybe I've just been fortunate enough to reside in a comparatively attractive area.

now when I walk around im gonna start looking at people on the streets, I never actually pay attention to see if someone is ugly or not.

Seriously though, unless they went around studying every citizen of Philly, this survey is highly inaccurate. Not to mention that everyone has their own standard of what is ugly and what is beautiful.

Parma is pretty excellent pizza, especially right out of the oven.

Their gyros and cesar salad are both awesome, too, if you ever find yourself back in the burgh.

it's true that there are a lot of blonde haired and blue eyed people in the minneapolis area because of all the scandinavian people who settled there. but ALL of them? that's simply not the case. i worked at one of the busiest malls in the state and i saw more asians on any given day than blonde people.

i always found that minneapolis had a lot of attractive young people, girls and guys, which i think is attributed to a lot of the younger people being more health-conscious. although... the middle aged men and women, well... let's just say there's a lot of overweight older people.

if you want blonde-haired blue eyed people, go to north dakota... when i was in high school there the blonde girls easily outnumbered the brunettes 2:1, which is rare in any case.

I passed up a huge scholarship to University of Miami because it was nasty.

NYU cost more, but the benefits were immense.

Everytime you see a ad about the "Brazil, a country with a beautiful people", don´t believe it. It´s a big, fat lie.
Of course there are beautiful people around here (anecdotal evidence says in the south states -Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul- the proportion of beautiful is bigger), but "a country of", sorry, couldn´t be more wrong.

p.s. I´m ugly so I know what I´m talking about. :lol :lol :lol

I think the bums and so called "ghetto" people are to blamed. Plenty of em around. I mean, you go to shampoo, the warehouse, egypt and a bunch of places and this seems to be far from the truth.
