Motorstorm 3.0

Hello all,

The 3.0 client update will be available for download tomorrow 25th October. To download it, please boot MotorStorm from the Blu-Ray disk, select ’Online’ from the main menu, select an appropriate game universe and install the update when prompted to do so.

MotorStorm Update 3.0 provides the following changes;

* Added vibration support for DUALSHOCK 3 controller with adjustable sensitivity settings.
* Grid order has been randomised for first race in any online lobby.
* Finishing positions in your last race now determine your starting grid position in the next race within the same online lobby.
* On-screen indicator has been added to show whether voice comms are issuing from TV or headset – As before, please press and hold L1 (R1 if using control scheme ‘B’) to toggle headset output through TV or Headset.
* Sensitivity Settings for SIXAXIS™ Motion Sensor control have been added.
* ‘Gloating Index’ has been added to the Stats card – The Gloating index gives guidance as to a racer’s online prowess. It takes into account the number of people you’ve beaten in each race and the number of people that have beaten you. Use the gloating index to spot the players to beat in each race! Try and rank your Gloating Index up to the perfect ‘10’!
* Several causes for an occasional snagging issue which would destroy vehicles on suspension impact have been addressed.
* Further fixes to prevent the occasional statistics reset issue have been applied.
* Fixed an occasional issue with inaccuracies in Eliminator finishing results.
* Fixed an issue where winners leaving Eliminator before race completed could cause issues for other players in lobby.

Thanks a lot,
Lestrade
Did the DS2 have this? From all my experience it's either been rumble "ON" or "OFF". Does this kind of confirm that the rumble tech is updated?

Let us know who you import that from. I have F1, Motorstorm, Resistance, and soon to have Ratchet. I love the rumble.

Best Buy is running a deal where you recieve either Heavenly Sword or Lair (your choice) with the purchase of a 60GB PS3. They also have the 80GB model with Motorstorm bundled in at the same price though. I checked up on the software bc for my PS2 games and I would be fine with the 80gb model. I could also care less about the hd space. (I haven't even used up all my 360 space yet and that's a 20gb model) Here's the bottome line: I was planning on getting the 60gb for Heavenly Sword, but it looks like Motorstorm has been given tons of content since release, fixing the only problem I had with purchasing it before. (Besides the obvious lack of a PS3) So, do I grab the 60gb with HS, or the 80gb with Motorstorm?

I like how every game and the PS3 itself are getting rumble patches right around now, but unless you live in Japan you don't get to use them until the SPRING. Total $%@#%%@ situation.

It's going to be real hard to not pay the extortion fees of $100 on ebay for one of the JPN controllers.

Play Asia?

I enjoyed HS way more than motorstorm

for the people importing the DS3, please let the rest of us know if it really brings new immersion into the gameplay, or if it's still just "rumble"

Awesome. I'm glad I got in on Play-Asia's deal before they stopped taking preorders. At least I'm guaranteed a DS3. Wish I had gotten it in white though. :(

MotorStorm is shaping up well now. Of course all of these recent updates should have been there during release, but better late than never. If they ever get around to fixing the loading screens, this game will get a heck of a lot more playtime from me.

I'm glad I pre-ordered a DS3 too! Although I haven't played the game in a long time, the new features and especially rumble will make me return right to it! :D

No, not really. Nothing short of getting a pad, and cracking it open will do that now.

we need new maps, or just create smaller versions of the larger ones

coyote rage is perfect because of the chaos when its crowded.

what's taking them so long, must be working on MS2.

sony has been slow in general.

It's odd how MotorStorm 2 is coming out next year and they're still supporting this one. I'm not complaining but it strikes me as odd.

It may come out a year from now, like October 2008. If that's the case it's not odd at all.

How do you know it's coming out next year?

Definetly picking up a white DS3 as well... but when do these thigns get released? 11 Nov is what P-A is listing. Any price yet? Or has anyone else released it already?

I will be playing Motorstorm a whole lot more now. Seriously, this bug was my biggest gripe in the game. I'd be driving with full boost and a little snap in the road would blow me up.

Play-Asia was doing pre-orders a while ago, but their allocations apparently ran out. Yesasia is still taking pre-orders, but they don't guarantee that you'll get one. Theirs is going for $70 or $80 I believe.

I am surprise at the support only cause online is pretty sparse now so I thought the game wasn't all that active anymore. Will play again with rumble though.

There's actually quite a few people playing almost all the time. It surprised the heck out of me when I was online a couple months ago.

Just tried it, and no, it's not up yet.

Dunno what region you're trying from, but my Motorstorm file is updated to 3.0. Asked about that rumble option earlier in another topic, but didn't get any answers yet.

Probably since I play late night in the Pacific Time zone I miss out out all the east coast folks :(

I wonder if they re-reviewed the game, what with the time attack and all these patches, if it would score the same.

Nice to see evo taking care of fans though.

I really enjoy motorstorm online, it seems the Japanese server is always filled with more or less the same bunch of people to race against. Which usually Includes a couple of guys who just like to park their truck/bus in the courses bottlenecks :) they are probably working together with one of the more serious racers.

There's going to be a Christmas livery download apparently. Just saw it on this PR from SCEA re. the holiday lineup:

http://www.sys-con.com/read/457665.htm

(Nothing hugely noteworthy in there..although the list UT3 in the lineup, but methinks they don't know anything more than we do).
Holy fuck @ the formatting of that PR! How the hell can a person be expected to properly read that list of games?

Still the best Racing game of the year to me...
Yeah, It's sure up there imo. Watch the new trailer for the DLC content from the PS Store, and it definitely still holds it's own as far as graphics goes. With all the gameplay patches this game has gotten I would still recommend anyone buying a PS3 to get this game as one of their first titles.
