Description:

Developed by Nintendo, Wii Fit is software composed of around 40 activities that utilize the Wii Balance Board for the purpose of becoming more fit, as well as to entertain players. There's even a Wii Fit Channel in the Wii Menu that hosts a calendar and other data for up to 8 players, without needing the disc to be in the system.

List of Activities:

These are based on the Japanese descriptions on the official site and are just examples. Names in the localized versions may differ.

Balance Games: Move your head side to side and hit the approaching soccer balls.
Moving Actions: One example is to rotate a hoola hoop and prevent it from hitting the ground.
Yoga: Perform various yoga.
Exercise Training: Use the balance board to perform actions pushups.

there's no denying that the idea is fucking genius.
even I'd like to have a go on it and i'm incredibly fucking lazy.

:lol @ the thread title!
I'm really eager to see how big is gonna be this thing in Japan...
As a gamer i could care less for what it is at the moment, but i think it could have some potential gameplay wise (Wave Race, Pilotwings, 1080 + new IPs...).
A potential Nintendo's not gonna take advantage of, of course, since they'll probably be swimming in gold.

This decade, America is into things like Atkins, Trans Fat and Weight Watchers. Americans want science, not games - food, not activity.

I don't think that it's guaranteed to sell quadrillions - although more related to Wii Sports than traditional gaming it is an additional peripheral on top of a console and has less emphasis on playing in a group than Wii Sports.

Either way, I think it's a good addition, anything that encourages physical activity is an improvement, although I question the expectations some are putting into this for the purposes of losing weight since the actual physical activity seems minimal

This is a pretty cool idea, but I don't see why you would buy a $250 console plus a game when you could just buy an aerobics video for $15.

Basically, you're asking if WiiFit can be a system seller? Don't forget the hype effect.

People are dumb.
I'm probably going to buy it. :(

If I had a Wii, I'd probably get it for my mom or something, but I wouldn't buy the system for it.

I get kind of peeved that the mainstream media thinks that this release overshadows all of the 360 and PS3's releases outside of Halo 3 (although they're probably right, those fuckers).

Perhaps we should add a bit of pink to the foums to welcome all the soccer mums who will soon be registering.

No more posting on gaf in my boxer shorts.. :(

I wonder if this game with save the Wii in Japan. The PS3 has been the dominant console the last two weeks
:lol

Yeah, after almost year's mass destruction in Japan Wii is pretty much fucked up now when it has been on the second spot for two whole weeks. Even if Wii Fit is massive bomba in Japan there's plenty of stuff for Nintendo to do which Sony has already done; price drops, game bundles, different colors etc.

Well Halo 3 isn't really mainstream at least in non-video game comparisons, Wii Fit is probably one of the most mainstream games ever so I'm not surprised at all that its getting so much attention.

I'm holding out fot a black wii.....

I'm curious.

Why are there so many people on here screaming about how wii fit will be the next amazingly huge thing in Japan? Isn't it a fairly niche fitness game?

I don't see parallels with wii sports really, which has a much broader appeal IMO

or are you all secretly hoping for leet games to come out which use the board?

And yes, I will probably be getting this too. So many peripherals this year.
That wii looks so awesome. I want it, i dont really like the white colour it has. :(

And im really curious to see if wii fit can match wii sports succes. I hope it does, because that means that there will hopefully be more games for the Balance Board to come.

It's made by Nintendo and has the name Wii in the title of the game. It will be a big hit.

It's in the vein of serious games like Brain Training. It's fashionable because it's leisure+cure, like BT was.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought I heard that there's a weight limit of 300 pounds.
WiiFat?

I love showing it off. XD

It would be cool if Nintendo made a funny and made the black Wii bigger than the white one.

It would be a hit with the ladies. :lol

but is it really? Brain training is like lots of fun mini games, sitting on the sofa, occasionally talkign to your DS

this is balancing on a board and doing yoga shit. how are they similar? Some of the minigame bits look OK but how much of the 'game' is that compared to the 'serious' stuff?

I love this show.

Also while I might not find any use for the balance board, I'll pick it up if the included game has some fun party type games or a party game comes out for it.

Maybe...maybe we just don't understand how Yoga is cool for a 35-40 years mom ? :p
