Big day, folks.

It's a battle between Mitt Romney and John McCain.

All good Democrats should be rooting for a Romney win!

My predictions:

Romney
McCain
Huckabee
Guiliani

And in other news --

:lol

:lol Right-click, save as.

I'm willing Romney to edge it out, he can be steamrolled in the general. I think Giuliani could surprise based on absentee ballots, but hopefully he is finished as of today.

Hell, I might just go meet Hillary tonight, since it is 20 minutes away from my house. What should I ask her GAF?

Ask her what she's doing trying to win a state with no democratic delegates

I'm not interested in a Romney vs. Clinton battle. ;)

The GOP establishment hates Romney? News to me. He might not get a ton of Evangelical support, but Romney is far from shunned by the national party.

Here's hoping for a McCain victory in FL--I genuinely want to see an Obama vs. McCain general election. Two choices I could feel good about, unlike 2000 and 2004.

Because she wants to be able to say that she won Florida by a landslide going into Super Tuesday. But what will she say? "It's not about the delegates or winning this election, it's about the American people." And she's lying.

I could be wrong but didn't Obama run ads in Florida first?

sort of. he ran ads on a cable network they told him it was impossible to filter out florida. quite different than aggressively targeting florida

hillary was going to win florida no matter what. the reason why she is making a big deal about it is because she wants to steal some of obama's thunder from the SC victory, and create her own momentum going into super tuesday by bending the rules. slimy politics this is.

and people wonder why hillary is hated so much.

ok, makes sense.

This is also the swan song of Giuliani.

He'll place third at best, show up for the debate tomorrow and then drop out.

Romney
McCain
9iu11ani
Huckabee

Rudy Mussolini is out after not even getting in 2nd in the state where he bet it all. Huckabee fading fast-social conservatives are moving away from him towards Romney as an attempt to derail McCain, who they certainly don't trust. Huck will still get a strong panhandle vote but the narrative going into the election should keep him in third or fourth, his vote and Giuliani's vote will be close.

The democratic primary is a total non-issue and the media stays obsessed with the weekend beatdown + Kennedy endorsement.

I just got back, Ron Paul and No on 1.

(I know he has no chance in hell)

Not true, if people vote with there conscience! Thanks for your vote, when NY primary comes that's who I'm voting for.

Edit: What's this ONE thing?

I hope Romney wins because the GOP establishment hates him and he would lose big against Obama.

Actually the GOP establishment likes Romney a lot more than McCain, I think.

Also, why would any good Dem want Romney to win? He'd be so much worse for the country than McCain.

Florida Amendment One, it's a property tax/homestead exemption control thing that Gov. Crist and other conservative groups are trying to get it passed through ballot initiative. It's designed to avoid the "jump" in property taxes when you move homes due to the fact that property taxes valuations have been capped at 3%/year in FL since 1992, even though the actual valuation increased at a far greater rate than that over the period.

they want a gop candidate they think they can beat. Thats most important.

I hope the media tears into Hildog for this slimy move. They're the one's who can create the momentum, and if they don't buy into Hildog's bullshit move, it could end up hurting her.

MSNBC said they will air her victory speech. I expect most of the media will. Also a editor of the Chicago Tribune said he expects most papers to give her a headline saying she won.

It's damn dirty of a move but the media seems to be sadly buying it.

When I went early voting last week, my mom insisted that I vote yes on 1, since she bought a new house up in Jupiter. So yeah, vote yes on 1. :D

McCain will take Florida I think. He calls my house what seems like ever 5 minutes. Also, the governer and some other officials have endorsed him.

I don't know about Paul, I never saw one commercial, or had him call my house. While there are a bunch of those yard signs around the voting area and around the malls, it isn't going to be enough. Did Paul throw in the towel on Florida? He has all that money, it would be nice for him to spend it.

Did she buy it before Jan 1, 2008?

Else, voting yes is pretty dumb. If you just bought a new house (and thus the new valuation is already in the country records) , then you got hit with the "bump" in comparable property taxes since you moved into a new place. You might as well vote "no" so that other people will have to pay it in the future. Otherwise you are setting yourself open to being hit with a property tax increase in a budget crunch and the homesteader exemption eligible will pay less of that increase than you will, comparatively.

Yeah, the deal was done a few months ago.

Yeah, the deal was done a few months ago.

The plan is only retroactive to Jan 1, 2008. She won't see any benefit other than being futureproof if she plans to move in the future, and the resulting loss in property taxes across the board because of this change would hit her more adversely than it would established residents that qualify for homesteading when they are raised to compensate for the loss because of amendment one.

Least that's how I'm reading it.

GOP establishment's only player left in the race is Romney. Cheney is moving his support that way.

Fox is attacking Huckabee and McCain. Hannity makes it quite clear on his show.

he didnt campaign in florida at all. his campaign's strategy is to focus on all the states which the media doesn't deem important, while relying heavily on grassroots activism. they hope they can pick up enough delegates to have a chance at a brokered convention.

its a ridiculous longshot, but with the media black out of ron paul, he really has no other choice

My mind cannot rest until I know who is running in the general lol. Romney vs. Clinton would be a devastating combo.

Romney vs. Obama
McCain vs. Obama
McCain vs. Clinton

Those three I can live with.

I think people are overestimating McCain's electability if he makes it to the general election

Really? I think he has a good chance against Obama .. but Hillary will beat him pretty handily (unless all these Obama-ites are true to their word and stay home).

Mitt apparently called my parents' house asking for me yesterday. Sorry bud, I wouldn't vote for you even if I'd have bothered to absentee it.

I would have voted for McCain in the primary, but if Obama makes it to the presidential election, I expect I'll vote for him. If it's Hilary, whoever wins the Republican ticket.

I think pretty much any Republican would lose in Nov. at this point-the national sentiment is just not in the GOP's favor and there are no candidates who are so strong that they can get past that headwind.

I also agree with you that McCain would have a lot harder time with Clinton than he would with Obama. Clinton would just line up his record and weaknesses and merciliessly pound him to death with his own actions/words, where as Obama would be a good bit more touchy feely and not go for the throat.

You must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, and registered to vote in your state.

I should go try and register at the polls. Never hurt before. Only thing is, I still have a MN driver's license...should be okay...

Actually, Republicans seem to dislike/distrust McCain a lot more. I could see why they would earlier this decade when he was far more neutral, but the last 7-8 years he's been sucking Bush's knob and supporting the war machine in any way he could. Go figure.

I say this as an ambivalent/undecided Democrat:
you can say whatever you want about her character, but Clinton has the willingness to do what it takes to win. Dems nominate too many candy-asses who are all too willing to play nice and not fight dirty against their GOP opponents, and although I'd be ecstatic to support him in the general election, I haven't seen that killer instinct emerge from Obama yet.. and this worries me about him somewhat.

I'm tired of seeing our candidates getting FUTA by the GOP nominee.
