Valkyria Chronicles is coming to U.S. & Europe

LONDON AND SAN FRANCISCO (February 25, 2007) – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced that Valkyria Chronicles™ a fresh new take on the traditional role-playing genre, is coming exclusively to the PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system.

Sounds like both a NA and Europe release :D

This is such great news. My jaw drops just about every time they release a screen for this game, so I'm glad to know I will actually get to play it.

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES

But... should I double-dip? I was all prepared to get the JP release :(

awesome news. Based on the descriptions so far, it sounds like a game I would enjoy. Now I only need to be sure that Yakuza 3 will also be transelated, and I'll be very pleased with Sega this year.

Looks amazing! That's the most unique use of cell shading I've seen yet. Other cel shaded games look like anime but this one looks like comics.

Whoa I didn't know this game had involve from the Skies of Arcadia team. The director of it was the scenario writer and director for SoA.

can someone please explain (or post a thorough link) of how the battle system works....pretty please!

Here's a pretty good video. It's like a strategy-RPG in that you have points for actions for your characters to move, but whenever you actually turn to a character it turns into a semi-turnbased/semi-realtime third person shooter, where enemies seem to stay still but if you cross into their range can still have reactions (ie they'll shoot at you). The idea is, like any sRPG, to position yourself to take them out.

Not too clear on the specifics, but I think that's the basic jist of it. As a sRPG fanatic, let me just say... :D:D:D

EDIT: I agree VotB is a much better name. Valkyria Chronicles isn't a bad name, I suppose it's meant to have this sort of epic, strange sounding name like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, but Journeys to the West? Ugh...

thanks!

Sweet! I love the trailer for this that I downloaded off of the Japan Store.

I've always thought that it was called "The Gallian Chronicles" though since that was the name that came up when I downloaded the video.

good i was really looking forward to this game. glad i dont have to resort to importing the JP version.

hopefully with the 6 month delay between the versions, sega will fix any issues that the JP version has.
