February 26, 2008 - Although Haze -- a first-person shooter from Ubisoft and Free Radical Design -- is set in 2048, you won't have to wait that long to get your hands on it.

Haze is coming this May exclusively to the PlayStation 3.

In an early morning announcement, Ubisoft said today that the much-anticipated title will arrive in just four months with a Mature rating. Haze casts you as a brand new soldier in a private military corp. -- in this bleak future, the government outsources fighting wars -- and sets you and your plethora of cutting edge weapons up against the rebels known as the Promise Hand.

May?

I guess its better than waiting till R2 comes out.

But still, a month after GTA and the same month as Too Human?

And a month away from MGS4?

Ah shucks, well that sucks but am sure this game won't be bad at all though. 8-10's is a give. I think. On that note, 'shooter station' is looking ever so impressive.

IMO they should of kept it exclusive, of coarse I doubt its going to sell well on either, but with marketing it as an exclusive on one console, I just think more people would of took the bait.

"Same month as Too Human"?

Why does that matter? Too Human is exclusive to the 360 and Haze is exclusive to the PS3. Why would their potential sales conflict? Try to use some common sense.

You forgot me. Been looking forward to this for a long time now. I love all the ideas they are trying to incoporate into the game. Plus the multiplayer stages look unbeliebably awesome.

Haze is exclusive to the PS3. The developers only considered 360 development at the way beginning but then scrapped the idea. They are fully concentrated on taking advantage of the PS3's unique features. ;)

Wow. The voice is really cheesy, and the gameplay doesn't look too inspiring from that trailer.

Then again, most FPS commercials aren't that great anyway. :lol

Uhh, it is an exclusive. Do people ever read the OP? Or how about the thread title? "Releasing May Only On PS3". Is it asking a lot of someone to read the thread title?

My goodness.

Uhhhh, cause I own both consoles?

Their potential sales would conflict because some people, like myself, have both consoles and, unlike myself (I hope), have to choose between one or the other due to financial reasons.

In the latest EGM, the Sony PR guy (forget his name) said it was a timed exclusive. So it's releasing may only on PS3 but another month only on 360.

The Haze hate confuses me too.

This isn't being developed by StartupMcShovelwaresoft, it's being developed by Dr. Doak and Free Radical; the guys who surgically planted a permanent smile on my face with Timesplitters 2.

People who don't own an X360 or PS3 and are looking for the next-gen experience that convinces them to bite the bullet.

:lol

Well, most don't. And their respective genres couldn't be more different.

woah atrocious voice over! :lol

Im still interested in Haze, I love co-op. I'll wait for reviews tho. If it's good it'll be a nice stop-gap in between GTA and MGS4.

I could of sworn it got reannounced for the 360 recently.

Err...... so they delayed to update the FMV?

Still looks like a game thats a year past it's prime IMO.
Exactly what I thought. I saw "new trailer" and I said wow, let me see how it's coming along... Ok, new CGI in the trailer...ok, same game footage I've seen before...uhhh.... That's it?

I'm just not excited about this game. I never have been. Is it just me?

I believe it was once a timed exclusive. If it is anymore... I don't know.

I'm going to give this game a shot simply because of the fact that it runs at a glorious 60 fps -- seemingly a dying trend. The nectar gameplay elements, 4-player online co-op, and no-doubt-about-it quality multi-player from Free Radical also add to the potential fun. Wait.. as I'm typing this I'm vaguely remembering something about Haze getting downgraded to 30 fps. Is my suspicion on point?

Some people own more than one fucking console. Try to use some common sense.

I understand that, but it's like saying a golf game is going to cut into the sales of a racing game. They're completely different genres and are aiming for different segments of the market.

I don't remember it ever running at 60fps though. People just figured it would because FR's games last year ran at that framerate.

They are completely different genres, but the money to buy them is coming from the same pool. I guess it never occurred to you that you don't only have to like one genre. It was a dumb statement, just deal with it.

Well, that's seriously disappointing. I remember hearing early on that it was running at 60 fps, or at the very least, they were 'aiming for 60 fps'. After playing COD4 and finally realizing the 60 fps difference (I used to be of the type that couldn't tell between 30/60), I can't get enough. Hopefully they've got some godly motion blur going on.

Hopefully in game xmb and custom soundtracks before the release.
Yeah hopefully that happens but I'm not sure we'll ever get xmb custom soundtracks. I hope Sony adds that in a firmware update.
Mojovonio said:
Or just play it on the 360 the month after,

hur hur custom soundtracks aren't on the ps3. good one.

No, I think it was on-point. They're not even on the same console, let alone the same genre. If someone's interested in a first-person shooter like Haze, they're not going to pass on it because of a third-person action RPG on a different console. I realize a lot of people have both consoles but I just think that's a stretch to think it'll have any significant impact on sales.

I do wonder if it'll come to the 360 eventually. Maybe they just want cut their losses as much as they can. And that Korn music in the video makes me want to puke.

Haze has the potential to be a fantastic game but the marketing is going to be stupid. Hopefully Ubi learned some great marketing tricks from doing Assasin's creed. This is one of the most pre-ordered games in the UK (2nd only to GTAIV) so it should do great in Euro land.
