Wii Menu Update 06/16/08 Twilight Homebrew Save Hack "patched"

Downloading now.

What new features does it have if any? I will soon find out!

And find out we did!

Here is the skinny on this dilly of a pickle:

1.Will not brick, though there has been ONE isolated incident where 1 Wii that had the Homebrew Channel installed on it once got bricked.

2. It deletes the Twilight hack AND prevents it from being re-installed. Also, we have unconfirmed reports that Wakinoko's save installer is unknown to force the twilight hack save over (Whatever the heck THAT means).

3. Does not effect unofficial channels (Homebrew or VC).

2. You can now move your Miis into your Mii Parade.

4. Freeloader is DEAD! GAF member Jucksalbe has provided these pictures when trying to boot up with the freeloader inserted...

and when simply inserting it after boot up.

This does not corrupt firmware or saves though, so you should be "fine", though SOME import saves could be deleted or so mixed reports say. We also have a VIDEO that confirms this.

security fix most likely. Block that freeloader somehow xD or add some lame parental control

No way, it will add the ability to nest channels into categories, and add USB harddrive support. Duh.

Nothing on wiibrew yet, but if it actually uses IOS37, kiss that Freeloader/Trucha signed discs goodbye.

The only noted feature in the message they just sent out about it was some dumb shit about it being easier to move Miis from the parade to the channel. Who gives a fuck, Nintendo?

Hahahaha.

Isn't it the update to the Nintendo Channel?

It can't be, as the Nintendo Channel didn't need an update. It just began displaying additional information.

I got no message....

It will probably add a calendar to the menu. Now development is complete, a watch and a calendar in the menu!! what more can you ask for?
a pop-up reminder in the form of a cuckoo. duh.

I don't have a homebrew channel installed. But I'd like the option to fuck around with it. I'll hold off, for now.

FUCK......

One of my friends just called me, he had the homebrew channel, though he "deleted it", and now he has a bricked console....

Well, I am glad I don't do that.

So when you open up the Mii Plaza channel, the "Mii Channel Announcement" pops up. The "Next" text on the button wraps improperly to two lines. Classy.

Edit: Wow, five pages of notes that basically say "This feature is fucking worthless." Moving Miis to the Parade is purely for storage/game memory reasons (when the games load up the Miis in menus and such), but when you do so, they lose the birthday and creator information, and if they're tied to a save, it's the same as if you deleted the Mii. This is only for the people who revel in having hundreds of Peter Griffins and Darth Vaders.

they're just being consistent with the misaligned digital clock in the NA dashboard.

Can anyone confirm that freeloader still works or there are no problems?

I don't get why Nintendo hates people so much that they don't want people playing games they bought for it on it. This living in fear of not being able to play a bunch of my games is annoying.

Aren't you the one who just pointed out that it bricks consoles with homebrew?

Could that maybe be a reason?
Well see, I don't know he he merely deleted the channel, or took the time to uninstall it the right way. I also do not know if he had a mod chip, though last time I checked, he didn't.

Because it encourages people who haven't bought games for it? I speak, of course, of piracy.

Either way. The update bricked a system. If I had done ANYTHING to my system I'd be very hesistant to update as well.

I thought, though, that the Freeloader uses an exploit that can be also used to play pirated games (or something like that). If so, you can't really blame Nintendo in this instance.

I don't think the freeloader allows you to play pirated games. The only real use of it is playing imported games. I need it so I can play my imported Gamecube and Wii games. This could be fixed by Nintendo patching in support to play this games without this trick.

Because the methods used to enable region free gaming probably uses exploits that could be used for piracy.

So it bricks or not? Does anyone know?
at least 1 system which ha had the Homebrew channel installed at one point, though possibly not removed properly HAS been bricked.

TP hack has nothing to do with piracy. Modchips are.

I´ll say it again:

If you have the Homebrew Channel installed or the Zelda hack don´t update it yet if you don´t want to risk a brick. If you want to use homebrew on it don´t update it yet as there is a big chance that this disables it.

We still have the SSMBX hack in a near future thougth.

I dont think people are checking the image posted above...

...it bassically tells you it is going to delete the Twilight Hack from your system!

I don't have the twilight hack yet. If I find any use for it I might do it in the future, though. I don't think I'll download it.
