I've only been here for 1 E3(Last years), the 2006 E3 I watched via Gamespot and then just read impressions from around the web. I don't recall to much warring after E3 occurred though(07), maybe it had to do with basically nothing of interest happening or major slip ups(Hello Sony).

But this year has been off to a brutal start all around. Ever since February with DMC4, Burnout, Halo 3 etc it seems everyone has just been itching to bite into each other. And now we have rumors about Sony and Microsoft both possibly working on motion controllers, 360 getting some big exclusives(Timed for the most part), Wii owners complaining about storage space and Sony breathing down Microsoft's neck.

It just seems like E3 is going to be horrible any way you slice it. Lots of people will walk away disappointed probably and anything similar to anything else will result in endless posts about "copying": The 360's Mii's/HOME, Motion controllers and such.

Every little thing that has occurred up until now seems to have been picked apart to the bone back and forth between everyone. Throw in the fact that the forums have been kind of slow and unresponsive lately and it seems like a recipe for disaster.

This is what worries me. GAF has been 500ing like crazy for the past couple of months... I don't see how it's going to be able to withstand E3.

Yep.

This is always the most annoying (but entertaining) time of the year on GAF imo.

Its one of the few times I venture into IRC and check a bunch of other sites too... the bitching IS inevitable. I have pretty muted expectations for the most part...

I do think Microsoft will announce a new motion controller though. The rumours have gradually built up steam, there were those leaks recently... it just seems to be the kind of thing they'd do generally. And its probably not a bad move providing it doesnt become a requirement for all future games or anything. They'll probably show off the Mii-style avatars... all of thats either gonna have an awesome reception here or a really bad one. Depends on how good their implimentations are I think.

Not expecting much from Sony, but as I've recently bought a PS3 I'd welcome any good announcements.

I want Nintendo to have a good E3, there've been an unusual amount of pre-E3 announcements lately -- Mega Man, Wario Land Shake and so on. Hopefully thats a good omen

E3 last year was nothing compared to the E3's before than. You won't even get a chance to post during E3, cuz it'll crash this site badly, during the day and even refreshing it, will crash it too. This E3 seems like nothing great coming out. Ever since E3 went small, not many Megaton announcements anymore.

What's with the 500's? I got one just now as well, when things are stable. Wasn't the site upgraded last year or something? Gaf is growing quite fast. I think the OT was closed last year though like some of you said and guests weren't able to view the forums either.

And I think this E3 is going to be way more dramatic from a bitching/meltdown standpoint than what we had last year, obviously.

We already have a taste of it, as you said.

On one hand you have the people going apeshit mad for PS3 getting a weather channel (I'm not talking about those who find it funny), and on the other hand you have those who answer that "Nintendo didn't invent weather channel" even though that was never the point, trying to act like the incorporation of such a feature was never motivated by the Wii's success.

Replace "PS3" by "360", "weather channel" by "Avatars", and it's still true. And E3 isn't even here yet. Funny how GAF is quite early this year, even the Internal Server seems to be 500 crashing before the show begins

Someone had to have been playing with GAF's internal clock...

that + surprise announcements that might cause surprise meltdowns.

Sticky one dedicated PoliGAF and one sports thread in the Gaming Forum and close the OT side during the E3 week. The sooner the better. This is GAF after all. E3 is supposed to be our national holiday here.

This is my first GAF E3 as well and I am excited for the epic threads that will ensue.

However, I am saddened that the OT will become a casualty of this epicness.

E3 is always bittersweet for me. On one hand we get amazing meltdowns and megatons. On the other hand the OT is shut down. GAF giveth and GAF taketh away. =(

It felt the same way in the Euro 08 thread for some reason. It seemed like a race to be the first to say somebody scored. And then 25 other people would post the exact same thing.

And that is why I'm staying away from the E3 threads.
