• Catchy hip hop soundtrack with 20 different songs

"Go! Go! Break Steady" is the debut title from Vancouver-based independent game studio Little Boy Games.

"What really makes this game stand out is its b-boy stylings. The characters are colourful and fun, the animations OTT, and the beat-matching pitched at just the right difficulty. The music is toe-tappingly infectious, with just enough scratching and dope beats to have you popping and locking the hours away." - X360 Magazine

Yeah, the art design should be way worse if they want to emulate the style on those battle flyers I always see.

Interesting view. fwiw I'm geting the game because it completely nails the bboy vibe to me, gonna use it to sort of introduce some of my friends and family to the culture.

Castle Crashers and Bionic Commando... *dies*

Indeed, I have the feeling that Castle Crashers, Braid or both might be releasing next week, something prompted Microsoft to sweep Double D Dodgeball under the E3 rug, and now both slots are open.

If you don't buy Go Go Break Steady, I hate you :(

But really, it's freaking awesome. It's PaRappa the Rapper meets Zuma with Pop'n Music style characters. The music, however, isn't particularly great ... it's not bad, but it's not at all memorable. It does the job.

Watched the trailer I really don't know whats going on, some nice impressions flating around tho will definatly give the the demo a good pop.

A nice feature of this game is that it will support Custom Soundtracks.

Well, I wanted to support a local dev team, but this is pretty much Boom Boom Rocket & Zuma combined into one. It really isn't that great.

Have I only scratched the surface or is this it?

Well, those are two games I would pay 400 pts for, so maybe it'll be worth it. I guess I'll get off my ass and download it.

IGN Ratings for Go! Go! Break Steady
The urban in your face set-up is obnoxious, not hip. It would be nice to have some customization options for the six characters.
6.0 Graphics
The art style is pretty slick, but the dancing is actually very uninspired.
6.5 Sound
There are 20 unique tracks, about half of which are good.
7.5 Gameplay
It's a great idea that works for the most part. The lack of depth is the only real downfall.
6.5 Lasting Appeal
It won't take you long to beat the tournament, but there's enough draw to attempt to better your scores.
7.3
Decent OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Quite fun. My only beef is that a few of the songs could be better. But the faux James Brown one is a blast to play.

Really unique play style that can get crazy intense.

I bought it.

After searching though the menu of the trial i see nothing about custom soundtracks, I would buy it is I could get confirmation it made it in the game

Where did all this custom soundtrack nonsense come from? No it does not allow you to use your own music. Christ.

The game is awesome without it anyway. All music games are for that matter =p

This.

I mean, jeez, anyone who's played the game for more than twenty seconds knows the music was built around the play levels.

The Xbox.com splash page where it says in one of those green bars, Custom Soundtracks, apparently that page lied to us.

Well, technically it probably didn't, but the game wouldn't be too easy to play with your NPR podcasts playing instead of the soundtrack of the game.

online co-op?

Online Endurance is in there. In this mode, you have to both get the button presses right, and then take turns in who puts the 'beatniks' into the Zuma circle. In essence, it's Coop :)

Just tried the trial, a few guys on my friends list have picked it up looking at the scoreboard.

Anyway the presentation in this game is great and it looks like it has so many modes but I'm terrible at this game, not clicking with me, tried 4 different games and types, nice rhythm mixed with zuma game which I can apperichate but it just didn't click.

Loving it so far. Much like Elite Beat Agents you need to be listening closely to the music while you're playing it - makes it so much easier, as the button presses get in tune with the music.

I'm stuck at Coco's 3rd stage. Bitch of a level :P
