Now, Dokapon was a big surprise. Sorta. I remember when Atlus first announced this, I was like WTF is this garbage? Another Mario Party ripoff?! And so I wrote it off until release day, then I started to see some good impressions. So yeah, it is a board game, but probably the deepest digital party board game you'll ever play. It mixes a board game with roleplaying elements. So it might not be for everyone, but if you can get into it, it's SO much fun. And mostly recommended if you're playing with other humans. I didn't mind the single player, but the real joy here is screwing over your buddies.
See, one of the greatest things about this game are the crazy things you can do! Like robbing towns and shops, and you do so by playing Roshambo! It's hilarious, I tried to rob a town and the mayor freaks out and says something along these lines: "You gotta be kidding me! I'm warning you! I'll have you know I have a 8th degree belt in the art of Roshambo!" WTF!? If you succeed, you can get great items and wealth. But if you fail, you get a giant wanted status put on you. This lasts an entire game week and makes it so you can't go into any town or place. Which is pretty obstructive when you're playing to play the board game. On top of that, you get a hefty bounty placed on your head. Meaning, the player that offs you gets massive riches. Oh, but robbing the shops can be so worth it! See, I tried robbing the weapon shop for the heck of it once and scored the most expensive shield that I couldn't afford to buy! Another great situation, was robbing the lady @ the item shop. She gave me these super awesome items that block fatal hits. This was a extremely helpful item, as it let me kill the other player I was playing with

Also, that's another thing, you can see some pretty mean things after offing another player. Rob them of all their gold, items or even a town. Or if you want to be petty, you could draw on their faces and change their clothes. There's also the option to forgive them... Who would choose to do that? Anyway! Moving back, like I was saying, it is a roleplaying game as well. So when you're not busy scheming to screw over your buddy, you'll fight random battles on the various spaces on the board. You'll even take on boss battles! Normally, you're all questing around for the king, but that's where the competitive play comes in. Say player 1 gets to the potion the king wants before everyone does. Well! Hope is not lost! This is where everyone then proceeds to try and kill player 1 for the potion. It gets extremely cutthroat, and that's really where all the fun lies. A big warning though is that the game can take an extremely long time to play, but there is a mode where you can set a time limit. But it's still more fun to play the story mode since it gives you quests to embark on. Well, if you manage to anyway!
