Time to make the final push. Good luck, whoever your candidate is.

Remember everyone, the closer we get to Election Day the more irrelevant national polls become. Only individual state elections matter now.

Electoral votes select the President of the United States, not a national popular vote.

PoliGAF, why has my California Absentee Ballot still not arrived? I'm in MA. Any idea what I should do to get my ballot?

The election night thread is going to be crazy epic.

And yes, I took that day off work. I wouldn't get anything done anyways.

I refute your logic and substitute my own!

Every time McCain gains a point, and Obama drops a point, a will go cry in a corner about Obama's huge possibility of losing.

I have school off that day, and the day before it!:D

Man, it feels like just yesterday I was tuning into the Iowa caucuses, hoping for a win for Obama. And now, we're nearly two weeks away from the election. Pretty incredible.

Yeah Yeah!

Can vote here in FL early soon, so will do that next week and get the election day madness out of the way.

From an european point of view, when does the fun start on election nigh? I'm not really prepared to stay up all night...

Me too :lol

I actually get November 4th off for free (thanks government!), but I took November 5th off as well... because, well, I am going to be drunk as shit. either way

Mailed my ballot earlier, did not know some of the local people running..my hair stylist was running for some cemetery position. When you see one of the 2000 votes for Obama in Wyoming, one of them is me!

This will be the first election I will see where Ohio isn't a big part in determining the President of 'merica. It's going to be a strange new world.
Missouri too.

Oh, and Florida... *shudder*

How do you think the polls will be this year in terms of violence?
Same as usual. None.

I certainly hope I'm not being naive . . . I'm disgusted by the calls of "kill him" at some McCain/Palin rallies but I do think McCain has a point in that the truly dangerous are only a tiny percentage. (Although the ugly racist percentage seems bit higher than I had hoped, I'm assuming they are not violent.)

i don't think a single thread until the election will work. for instance we need one for the half hour show ...

I do not think we need a whole thread for a half hour Obama infomercial, sorry :P

that's exactly why i say the system sucks... any hope for a change (in this system, that is)?

If something fuck incredible happens that requires its own thread, that can split into its own little topic - Evilore has said as much.

Nation could face short Election Night

Network news executives said they are preparing for an unusual Election Night challenge: How to be honest with the audience, and still keep them tuned in, if the race between John McCain and Barack Obama is effectively decided before most Americans have finished dinner.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

I doubt it. They're going to avoid being trigger happy on calling states, and so it's going to be awhile before the battlegrounds can be called. Obama can't win without the battlegrounds, and you know they're going to be counting votes in Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio for a long time. Plus there's later states that are big battlegrounds like Colorado and Nevada which will delay the process further. Obama hasn't completely taken over the east coast.

Of course, they still won't be able to call it until late (for east coasters, at least) because of CA,OR, and WA.

That partly true. California's polls close three hours after the east coast, so that will definitely mean the east coast will have dinner by then. However, I think they'll call California earlier than say, Ohio or Virginia.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: If both Virginia and North Carolina get called for Obama, I'll be celebrating his assured victory in the street.
