Hudson Entertainment to Recruit Soldiers for New Generation of Military Madness
Classic TurboGrafx-16 Strategy Game Returns to Digital Download Platforms with Updated Features and Gameplay

San Mateo, Calif. – March 23, 2009 – Ten-hut! Military Madness, the classic turn-based strategy game published by Hudson Entertainment, the North and South American publishing arm of HUDSON SOFT, is coming to Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®Network, and WiiWare™. This new version of the strategic combat simulation game includes an all-new graphical barrage, a regiment of new units, online co-op and vs. multiplayer and a platoon of other new features. Due to be ready for deployment this summer, Military Madness has been rated T for Teen by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

“Since its original release on TurboGrafx-16 in 1989, Military Madness has stood the test of time as one of the longest-lived turn-based strategy games in history,” said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Product Development at Hudson Entertainment. “The new Military Madness will give fans of the original a modern version of this classic strategy game, while gamers new to the series will get to enjoy being armchair generals for the first time.”

With new features such as the commander unit, four person online multiplayer gaming and a 3D view of the battlefield, Miltary Madness has been modernized to meet the needs of today’s gamer without straying from the strategic elements that earned the original version awards for the “Best Military Strategy Game” and “Best War Game” within a year of its release. For those who want to know who is the “best of the best”, detailed stat-tracking leaderboards can be reviewed online.

OMG this is freaking awesome!

all you young kids who've never played this will finally see what a real classic strategy is. It's the 'Chess' of video games. This game has always been so perfectly balanced. I love valkyria chronicles, but nectaris/military madness is still probably the war strategy game I'd take with me on a desert island.

can't wait. Anyone know a release date?

my only request is to speed up the computer's turn and make it more interesting to watch. I actually don't even watch its turn when I play it anymore and treat each round like a new fresh game

How can that be known when this has just been known about?

Awesome, PSN too. I've always wanted to try these games.

Yeah, nice to see Hudson branching out of WiiWare these days, especially with this title. One of my most anticipated of the year now.

Sounds great. Hopefully they upgrade a few elements of the old games to improve on them instead of doing a straight port gameplay wise or something. Some aspects of the old Military Madness games were pretty weak when compared to similar games released later, such as Advance Wars.

hudson sure is going all-out today. 3/3 of the vc/wiiware games, diner dash, the watergun fps, military madness 2. not too shabby

All right, I'm a little more cogent now. A new Nectaris with online multiplayer?

YYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Okay, maybe I need to wait another hour or so before posting again in this thread.

I do hope that there is cross-platform online play.

This can't come to me fast enough. Exciting news.

I just hope they give us 360/PS3 users the proper love, and don't wuss out on the graphics just 'cause they're doing a Wii version too.

Very cool. I've got the TG16 and PSOne versions floating around here somewhere...
*scavenges around*

HOLYSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

Hudson is like the best dev this gen. WTF.

I LOVE when they bring back old ass IPs and make new games. Now that's what I call "True retro gaming".

*bow bow*

Interesting that they're not going Wii Ware exclusive with this one like their other TG16 revivals. Looking forward to it!

honestly if they've got an engine up and running and they're fully licenced, these ports are no brainers. especially considering we're not dealing with difficult stuff here. most of hudson's games easily _could_ be done on any platform.

i know for me, fridge + ease of adding points + ease of playing games + social features means i'd get this on 360 over the ps3, and ps3 over the wii unless the wii interface (IR) was notably better.

I do hope it has evolved a little bit since the original. The original games look damn ugly compared to the Advance Wars games.

I'd love to know if the Wii version is lead platform with NextGen being enhanced by another company. I'm glad Diner Dash got announced too, it's been in development for a bloody long time - more than you'd expect for yet another Diner Dash game.

Oh man, I loved this so much on my maligned TG16... isn't this what Advanced Wars was based on / inspired by?

CANNOT WAIT.

Other way around, Famicom Wars predates Military Madness. Fitting name of yours BTW :D

I think it'd be pretty cool for the newcomers, if this game would unlock the original games when you beat different phases of the maps, just to get everyone caught up with the originals as a bonus.

Like unlock the original when you finish the the first set of maps, and unlock Neo Nectaris when you beat the second phase of the maps. This is the one most people haven't played.

It'd be nice to pack in the PS1 Nectaris game too, or at least the 100 extra maps it comes with compared to the original

I never got to play this on TG16, but being a strategy game fanatic I downloaded it on VC. Awesome game, and I very much look forward to a new, updated version.

Always wanted to try this game but I never had a TG16 and never came across the PS1 version. Can't wait.
