Wii Motionplus Video Walkthrough

POST IMPRESSIONS WHEN YOU GET IT.

My plan is to buy WiiMotion+ and rent this game. If my brother likes it (he's expressed interest in buying a golf game), I'll buy the bundled SKU and get a second WiiMotion+. After that, all I'll need is WiiSports Resort and Red Steel 2 to be fully equipped.

I honestly think Golf is the first game that will ever be done perfectly. Possibly in a few generations.

This looks so good, it makes me want to buy a Wii. Unfortunately, it's still $300 Canadian with tax, and the game will be $80 plus tax (with motion plus).

Come on Nintendo, PRICE CUT.

You're going to be waiting a long while.

If it helps, Tiger is only $70 plus tax w/ motion plus.

I hadn't really considered picking this up, to be honest, but I've warmed to the idea when I realized that it's only $45 more than just being a WiiMotionPlus, and I've enjoyed enough Tiger Woods games in the past to feel it's worth some time.

Well... shit. I have a bit of a dilemma.

On the one hand, my dad's birthday was last week, and there's Father's Day this month, and he would totally love this.

On the other hand, I'm a selfish bastard, can only afford one game, and want to get The Conduit.

...Bah, I'll probably wind up getting this. :/

How many courses and shit are in it? He really liked the Wii Sports Golf, but was always annoyed that there were only 9 holes. And is the frisbee golf available on all the courses?

Tiger Woods could not have done more to promote this game after this dramatic come from behind win this weekend. Excellent timing on the part of EA to stick this between two tournaments!

I'm taking leave next month and coming home and I'm not sure I want to take my Wii and this game with me.

If my dad starts playing it, I don't think I'll be able to get my Wii back.

I believe there are 27 courses and disc golf can be played on all the courses.

Very excited for this. I preordered from Gamestop a couple of months back when they were offering free overnight.

Oddly enough, my order is currently listed as backordered. Not sure what's up with that. Anyway, I'm still hoping that it'll come in tomorrow, and I'll post some impressions when I get it.

Had no idea this was coming so soon.

Called my dad up and asked him if he'd be interested in playing this game, he said sure, so I Amazon Prime'd it. Should hopefully be here by the weekend!

So is there an advanced mode option in this to really take advantage of M+?

From a post I had in another thread:

You can't really make a golf swing more accurate using a wiimote, though, even with M+. A golf swing is a fairly complicated thing, involving stance, balance, head position, shoulder rotation, etc.
Proper use of M+ combined with the balance board can get you close though. Throw in some of the camera tech showed off by Sony or MS and you can get closer. Obviously won't be the same as an actual golf simulator where you use actual clubs and a ball with a bunch of sensor equipment.

Still, with just M+ you can track swing path for hooks/pulls/draws/fades/pushes/slices, and approximate ball trajectory with swing speed and finish position. You could also approximate impact position (fat shots, thin shots, topped shots, sky balls, etc) by estimating where the bottom of the swing arc ends up in relation to your starting ball position. You could also open/close the clubface at the start for various chip or pitch shots.

If EA didn't put all this in an advanced mode for this iteration, they better get it in next time.

I doubt anyone would ever want to track impact position other than horizontal trajectory. Unless you used a golf club and had it's motion tracked by a camera and used some sort of mat where the player could aim his point of impact at.

I'm sure you could use the balance board in conjunction with M+ to approximate impact point. You'd have to choose where your starting ball position would be before you started your shot. As for the golf club bit, that would also have to be approximated, with the wiimote itself just representing the grip.

hmm, using the board for weight shift would have been great, too bad.

ahh yeah, that's it. turning to the tv and seeing the motion plus on tv (i keep feeling like it should be out later, because of WSR) was breathtaking, especially how they show it first, then him golfing with nothing there. brilliance :D

holy shit, you gotta watch that walkthrough video.

he mentions the weather on the courses is tied to the wii weather channel. Meaning, whatever the weather is on the course that day wherever the course is, the weather will be like that in Tiger Woods. fuckawesome!

Except I would expect most peoples stances to be wider than the board.

judging by most amateur golfers' coordination, they would simply fall off anyway :)

I usually don't buy sports games (very picky) but I did a full down payment for the bundle. I disc golf was the big clincher for me.

As long as all the courses are in the south where it doesn't get crappy during the winter. :D

Anybody know for sure if this uses WiiSpeak? Seems like that's the thing they had to of left out cause it seems pretty close to perfect the way it is (full disc golf set up!).

EDIT: Nevermind. Seems it doesn't. Pity. Still is gonna friggin sweet though it seems.

Nintendo just announced the second game to support them. I imagine we'll more games using Wii Speak this Holiday and more next year.

Looking at the board it would work but how much does it add to the game.
Quite a lot, if you want a more serious take in golf. Proper weight shift is a big factor in how far/solid you hit the ball. It's also a big factor in chips/pitches as well.

Do you need two controllers to play multiplayer or can you switch off on the controller with Wii Motion+?

what is the second game?
Endless Ocean 2, but The Conduit also supports it.

Hopefully picking mine up tomorrow. Motion+ better be damn good!

I normally go with the HD version, but I'm really excited at the prospect of a (good) motion-based golf game.

In the case of multi, can one person use M+ and the other not? Not getting a second M+ till Wii Sports is out.

Hmm.. the bundle discount is good enough here for me to consider picking it up (I'm not usually into golf games).

I picked up motion plus today from best buy (around 3:30 eastern). Waiting to decide which of the three games I want to get. I'm a bigger fan of tennis, but tiger looks to be the better game...But I'll wait, and pick up a bundle later this week.

Leaning towards tiger though...disc golf looks great.

Tiger does look really good and I also think Grand Slam Tennis looks pretty sweet. I'm not sure what kind of game modes it has, but in terms of motion plus..it looks good.

I'm sure there is a pass the controller mode. At least, I don't see why there wouldn't be.

I'm kind of surprised Nintendo let EA show the Motion Plus without the condom on in the commercial. I figured they would force that. I still wonder how much it costs to get Tiger for these ads. Even with the contract for the game in place, it's gotta be costly. You don't become the richest athlete in the world by a long shot by lending your likeness on the cheap.

I meant the second Nintendo Published title. There will be at least a few Wii titles using it this Holiday.

Is it that much better on Wii compared to 360? If I want to Golf I can just go golfing... Bethpage Black is going to be awesome though

I pre-ordered this on Amazon (though it says it's shipping on the 15th :/ ) - this will pretty much be the first sports game I've picked up for the Wii (unless you count Shaun White snowboarding). Couldn't really wait until July 26th to pick up WSR and try out Motion+.

Graphics and all that jazz will be better on the 360. This game has the awesome Disc Golf!

Does anyone know if you'll be able to upload replays to the ea website or is that only for the next gen systems?

But traditional golf games are so incredibly boring though.
