Today, Ubisoft announced that Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2, two games that were expected to be released this holiday, have been pushed back to Ubisoft’s fiscal fourth quarter — which starts January 1st, 2010.

“Splinter Cell Conviction and Red Steel 2, whose releases were previously planned for the third fiscal quarter, will now be released in the fourth fiscal quarter,” a press release, detailing Ubisoft’s fiscal first quarter results reads.

Damnit.

So GameStop/Gamefly/whatever were right.

I guess the three year cycle of gaming excellence will still hold true for 2010.

woah :(

Bioshock 2 was delayed too rigth?

Now, if they delay AC2 to 2010 they got nothnig for this year do they?

Gee, I could have never predicted this.

But really, who gives a shit about Red Steel 2, and Ubi isn't releasing Conviction on my beloved PS3, so screw them.

wow, 2010 is going to be huge :lol i have no problemes with all these delays. still picking up uncharted, call of duty and PES 2010 + plus several psp titles.

What the fuck?? How many times has SCC been delayed? I was looking forward to playing it this year :( Fuck. There's not much to play at all this fall.

I don't understand the economic sense in delaying a game to have it released in what will be an incredibly packed fiscal period. Alot of games will be burried in 2010 because of the glut.

Damn. Was looking forward to Conviction too. Oh well, more money to save this fall. That brings the total of must have games for to...two? Sweet. Uncharted and Tekken 6, here I come.

Well, that just ruined Christmas.

You know, I'm probably going to hell for saying this, but FUCK Halo and Modern Warfare. Fuck them right in the ear.

Edit: oh, and Wii Fit too

At first I was pleased when big titles started getting delayed to 1Q 2010, as I've always thought it it was bad for both gamers and devs/pubs that so many titles come out in 4Q. But now it seems 1Q may be the new 4Q.

Three year developer pattern prevails (1998, 2001,2004,2007,2010 and so on). 2010 is so utterly packed and probably going to be one of the most expensive years for me ever in terms of software.

Sent to die?

The fall is looking so thin now that I expect to see some games push their release dates forward in the next few months :lol

Mass Effect 2 in 2009 would be so nice. :/

Most of the early 2010 games will be delayed to the fall.

If you awaken the bish you will suffer the consequences.

I suppose its a good thing what with so many big name sequels being released during Q4. Kinda bummed out that Red Steel 2 got pushed back though.

If publishers keep delaying all their games, the result will be the exact same... just later >__<

Kind of nice to have an off year to clear out the backlog. 2010 will be insane.

All these big titles being pushed into 2010 gives a game like Brutal Legend a better chance to sell.

I'm actually thankful. I'm still catching up on shit like Farcry 2. (Come onnnn, Goozex!)

I'll probably be dedicating most of my holiday gaming to Modern Warfare 2 anyway, so I'm glad a lot of titles are being pushed into 2010. 2009 has basically been "let's kill the 2008 backlog," anyhow.

I'm starting to think that the market is so overserved titles will die in whatever period to which they're delayed.

You haven't seen the in-game walkthrough have you?

Halo: ODST and MW2 sure is scarring the shit out of publishers. Oh well, I kind of like a slim holiday release so I can enjoy the top crop of games.

:(

I was really looking forward to Splinter Cell.

All the better for me I guess, too many big releases I'm dying to get really stuck into.

Someone have a list of all the delayed titles?

I said wow.

Splinter Cell must have been behind or something. That title has to have been a big enough game to compete this fall.

This is really making this fall sort of easy in terms of what to buy.
