Well, Play-Asia have got a new one listed for release in November. Available in White, Blue and Black (the blue looks horrible). It has 6 face buttons, so looks to rival the MadCatz FightPad.

Features and pic below:

Looks like a very cramped pad with those extra buttons. Really wouldn't like to play with one of those.. are they at least helpful for beat-em-up players?

It's a little to late. The year of the fighter is just about over. Don't they know next year is the year of the RPG.

As for the controller it gets a bonus for having 2 analog sticks(fightpad only comes with one). The face buttons seem to be extremely small. I think that would be pretty painful after a long gaming session. While the buttons might be very small they are at least spread out. I had issues accidentally hitting some buttons while using the fight pad.

It could stand to do without those silly turbo switches, but otherwise Hori makes a good piece of kit and should be a fine pad if you don't want to have to switch out between a standard 360 pad and the MadKatz Fighter Pad all the time.

A shame it's not wireless, but that's MS's fault.

I have the original Hori pad posted above and I would not recommend it. The dpad, while accurate, was very stiff and the actual buttons were as well. This new controller looks to be the same thing with extra buttons slapped on so... yeah.

They should have switched the D-Pad around with the left analog stick (similar to PS3 pad). Also the buttons seem to small a spread out (they should have copied madcatz 6 button layout).

You cant' make a gamepad with the same size and layout as the Madcatz controller and still have room for everything else without producing something as unwieldy as the Duke.

It's good for what it is-- a general purpose enthusiast controller for people who don't want to switch out pads between Street Fighter and Gears of War. For everyone else on either end of the spectrum it's either too excessive or not excessive enough.

Pre-ordered the black version at Amazon. This will be a good all around pad for MAME/ PC gaming.
Be sure to let us know how you get on, would love to see some 'live' pics, as well, to get a true idea of how big the thing is.

People here should know better than to judge how a controller feels by looking at pictures. You just don't know 'til it's in your hands.

It looks really tacky and cheap, At least the madcatz fightpads look nice!

The madcatz fight pad may look nice, but to hold it in your hand, it's too big, feels light/cheap, and it breaks. I have two broken ones now, one that doesn't recognize corner blocks the other the RB button on the front went out.

This pad may not be much to look at, but the last Hori pad feels great to hold, the only flaw was the lack of 6 button layout. I will have this new pad day 1.

would definitely make for a good all-around pad if a)The dpad is solid and b)It's cheap

i dunno but to me that is more important than how it looks. MadCatz fightpads look freaking AWESOME but their build quality is a little shoddy imo (and in Canada they are overpriced)

I used a Hori in a SFIV tournament. It did the job. The dpad reminded me of the one on the SNES controller.

But I still recommend that everyone learns how to use an arcade stick. You have to try both before you can know which one works best for you.

From the pics it looks kinda like the Dreamcast dpad, at least to me it does.

Really? Anybody else agree? Is the Hori dpad on the 4 button controllers SNES like? If so I'll probably order a 6 button one.

I assume 3rd party 360 pads work on a PC with the same drivers the official pads use? Correct? Or is Microsoft douchey about that?

I can't find alternate pics, but I also assume these have both sets of shoulder buttons on the shoulders too. So 2 shoulder buttons are duplicated on the face pad, not just removed from the shoulder and moved to the front...

If the dpad is good this seems like a great 6 button controller.

Ugly as hell but it's Hori so I trust the build quality. The MadCatz Street Fighter IV pad was shit.

I'm too used to the loose and large SFIV Fight pad to use it. I bought the other Hori Turbo Ex and hated the pad. Good shape, but mine wasn't elevated enough and felt very stiff.

Hori generally has a good reputation, and I googled and found a few reviews that also compared the dpad on the Hori 4 button pads to the SNES dpad.

So I was willing to take the risk, I pre-ordered a black one at Amazon for $34.99 with free shipping. Nov 23rd release, so hopefully I'll get it by December. If it works alright on the PC this could be a great controller to use for Saturn emulation.

I will have to try it out. I hate switching between the Fighting Pad and the standard 360 controller, so if this can hold up to the best of both of those controllers it is a definite purchase. It is hard to draw much of a conclusion just from a picture. The lack of what appears to be good triggers could be a deal breaker.

I've plugged in both my Hori EX2 and Logitech DriveFX wheel into my PC, and it picked them up correctly as the appropriate 360 controllers. (So it picked up the wheel as a wheel, and the stick as a stick)

So I assume anything which is XID works.

seems there are only two shoulder buttons so no

It better have triggers. The product description on both PlayAsia and Amazon seems to suggest it has triggers

They better not just be calling those two visible shoulder buttons triggers, those are not what I'd call triggers. I'll feel lied to. I want a 6 button controller with a good dpad, and triggers.

Hori's been peddling that dpad since the PS2 days. Its functional and serves its purpose well enough, but like someone here mentioned its very stiff and is HIGHLY not recommended for fighters.

Still, if you're a pad player and want a controller with both analog and a decent dpad then there's no better option (other than a PS2 controller converter).

I got shafted with their Hori 360 pad, so I'm not too sure about getting this new one. The D-pad on the old one was nice though...its just that the USB connection got fucked or something. The X lamp is green but buttons no longer registered :-(

Some HK company needs to make a Saturn to 360 USB adapter. There are tons of junk/unused Sega Saturn controllers sitting all over the world, especially in Japan. I'd buy two if they could somehow make it happen. Maybe it exists already. If so direct me to one because I have tons of Saturn controllers ready to try it out on.
