The piloted craft is susceptible to extremes of heat, so the player must be careful about the craft's proximity to magma. If the craft becomes too hot, the player can regain a comfortable temperature by plunging into the nearest water source. Additionally, each stage presents a puzzle scenario for the player to solve in order to safely rescue as many survivors as possible. Both environmental elements and enemies, including Bosses, will attempt to hamper the player's progress.

• Several unique stages with stylishly designed graphics and original music. 1080p 60fps.
• Dynamic rendition of water, magma and other substances.
• Change the terrain and environment to progress, it often takes strategy, planning and old-fashioned trial and error to succeed.
• Single-Player & Multiplayer
• Online Rankings
• YouTube Uploading
• RemotePlay

Edit: Mini-review after 45 minutes of playtime:

Very simple, enjoyable pick-up-and-play game. Can tell my casual friends will love it. Nice little break from the holiday heavy hitters.

I just finished the first 'area' and am already seeing the puzzle aspect of this game come out. Predicting lava flow to save your miner (astronaut?) buddies is an interesting mechanic. And there's nothing like diving under a lava burst you weren't expecting to just save a little buddy in the nick of time.

I've already said "Noooo!!" a couple times when I accidently killed a buddy. Very fun - another solid entry in the PJ series. Highly recommended for $10!

Post-game Edit: Fuck this is a SHORT game. I can no longer 'highly' recommend this game. Still a great game, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't call it a must-own PSN title. Let's just leave it at "recommended" :P

Played up to the first ice level. Not as good as Monsters or Eden yet, in my opinion. Need to play more. Maybe I'm not "feeling it" because I've been playing too many AAA games recently and this obviously can't compare to big console releases. Still, I'm loving it and have not wasted any money at all! Love the look and sound!

I played 4-5 levels. The controls are perfect and I love the water mechanics.

Also unlike the other PJ games it has not caused me any frustration due to difficulty. At least so far.

I seem to miss one or two gems in every stage...I will happily replay them though. It's very fun!

Got past the first boss. So far, so very good. :D Easily the best PixelJunk game so far for one simple reason; it's not insanely difficult.

Missing a few gems also. You do get a Gem for perfectly saving the survivors though that doesn't count towards the level total.

Very good game, great graphic style, liquid phyics and lovely controls.

Doesn't seem too hard, certainly not dying when hitting walls makes things easier, but I guess it could get challenging later in.

Loving it so far. Controls and the fluid dynamics stuff are extremely satisfying. Super smooth 60fps never misses a beat. Damn, I can't wait for the 3D PixelJunk stuff.

Not too difficult so far, although I've been trying to 100% each level so i've only just hit the ice stages. I suspect it'll ramp up in the later sections.

Have to love those peeps at Q Games - pure polish every time. Win.

I'm in. Gotta wait until this weekend to DL.

Honestly though I'm a little bummed that it's what like 3 - 4 hour game. But I'm a sucker for PJ stuff and it looks like a blast.

Coming in a couple weeks. It's how PJ does all their demos.

Ahh, good to know. I haven't been keeping up with any behind-the-scenes stuff but wanted to try it out. Gracias!

I LOVE the game, but i'm a "distant sidescroller" fetishist ! It's so simple and beautiful...
This is the kind of game i want to play !

I've always thought this looked kind of generic but I had a total change of heart a week ago while watching a gameplay video. Gameplay smoother than Eden.

Is it just me or does this game have HOME unlocks? I thought I saw a msg about unlocking something in HOME but I logged in and saw nothing new.

Great game so far.

I love this game. So simple but so addictive. Need to sleep.

Yes it does, more games should have this!

?

i'm a little disappointed you cant save your progress on sub-levels. IE, if you exit and you are a few screens in on a level you have to start back from the beginning...thats some archaic shit, tbh.

but other than that, lovin it so far.

need a short break, got about 3 more levels of Episode 3 to go

but holy fuck does the game keep throwing new/interesting stuff at you

I do wish they'd explain some things more. I got stuck for a bit before i figured out how to do the
spin move
and it took me a minute to figure out exactly how the
inverter suit
works

This is the first PixelJunk game I won't/can't play on Day 1. :(

How depressing..

This is the first PixelJunk game that I've played on day 1 :lol

I got Monsters and Eden when they were on sale for $4.99 each

i beat the first level with a perfection bonus but got no points, it said "+0" :[
You got an extra diamond/treasure for saving all the people. The perfection bonus quickly goes from +1 to +0 as its added to the total number of treasures. Its very easy to miss the 1 and assume you got nothing ; )

I think that the statement itself counts as 1, then when you get the second it reads "statement" +1. then "" +2 and so forth.

Love the music in this game. PJ always seems to make such awesome [looking, sounding, playing] games.

or, of course, this may be true. Having only ever achieved 2 subsequent perfection bonuses I can only comment that the first time it looked like +0 and the second it looked like +1 (though I can't recall if the +1 then counted down to +0)

Played an hour or so with brother. Inventive gameplay, pretty fresh stuff. Love those moments when you're racing the lava downward to save your dudes from impending death. Heh, I totally screamed "NOO!" when accidentally shooting dudes too. When they die it's so sad, they go all limp and ragdoll around. I recently turned my girlfriend onto Monsters, and she'd ask me if we could "go make some rainbows" when she wanted to play and I can already tell this one'll be "hey let's save some spacemen" :D

Love PJ games for what they are, casually fun, polished cooperative games.

What's the word on co-op play here?

It's fun, you'll end up racing to be the first to snatch the dudes as much as you work together using a water sponge thingy while the other shoots the lava through an alcove to save guys.
