PSP In 2010: At Least Japan Still Loves You

Nirolak

Mrgrgr
I'd like to thank Stumpokapow and Spiegel for their advice on how to create this year's thread.

I'd also like to thank I NEED SCISSORS for helping with a very large update.

Legend:
Localization Watch: This tag indicates that a game is likely to come out in Japan this year, but it making it to the West this year is questionable.
Delay Watch: This tag indicates that a game might not actually make it out in any region this year.

Note: This year's post is broken up into two sections. One for original titles, the other for enhanced ports and remakes. Direct ports are not included in this year's listings, with one or two exceptions that seem to have some effort put behind them. The titles are also not listed in alphabetical order this year, but games with localization watches and delay watches are listed near the end of their respective sections.

I think i'm probably most excited about Resident Evil PSP over any other game next year. Mainly because I want to see what they do with it.

Shadow of Destiny, a port of the ps2 game, is coming out in January. According to Amazon that is.

It's an adventure (not action-adventure) game.

Great name or greatest name?

It seems like I've been looking in the wrong places for my JRP fixes. Will definetly be buying a PSP (and DS) this year. So many RPGs in that list :lol

Nice thread, great line up there.

I actually really want to try out the Ys series, I think I'll give Ys Seven a try whenever it gets localised.

Question, what happened to "Ushiro" Level-5 RPG announced along side Cardboard Senki?

It kind of disappeared, but I should go add that in the Delay Watch section...

Thanks.

Fantastic job! I hope Last Ranker makes it here in 2010, it's my most anticipated PSP game. Can't wait for Valkyria 2 and want more info on RE.

A few small corrections:
- Lunar isn't an original game
- God Eater should be Namco Bandai/Shift
- Tales of VS should be Namco Tales Studio/Matrix Software

Nice thread. Just one comment though: I wouldn't consider multi-platform simultaneous release as a port, as is the case with Dante's Inferno.

Edit: Personally, Pop 'n Music Portable is my most anticipated PSP game. In fact, it is my most anticipated 2010 game of any system.

PSP rules

getting so many games. I am going to be fucking PISSED if valkyria chronicles and peace walker dont have online though

Nooooooooo, you caught my stealth edit. :lol

I still had God Eater on my mind when I added that comment. God Eater isn't even on my most anticipated PSP game list actually... I just want the OST for it.

Holy crap!! There is a hot shots tennis coming?! :D

Also, that games line up looks amazing. Even if you're a PSP only owner you'd be having a blast in 2010.

Thanks. I'll add this in.

Edit: As soon as I can find a properly sized screenshot.

Fantastic list, although I'm not sure if I'll become personally attached to any of them. That's a fantastic balance of big names and should-be-big-names. I can't wait.

Thanks. Yeah, I realize I forgot to go update all the release dates on this since I made it, but thankfully not many games got them. :lol

Hot Shots Tennis | Developer: Clap Hanz | Publisher: SCEI | Genre: Tennis | Release: TBA
As well as Resident Evil I WANT this right now. :D
I hope all those games really come out this year.

I'm not sure why you keep insisting on calling it Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday. That's not the title of the game. :P
Because people will get confused as to what series it is if I leave it off. :/

Just last week someone bumped the 2009 PSP thread with vast surprise that a Parasite Eve related game was coming to PSP. :P

I don't think that's a good reason to make up a title for the game. No one uses Batman: The Dark Knight in OT. :P

If Disgaea Infinite actually gets localized, then I hope NISA will follow it up with where the genre began (which is what I really want).

Nirolak said:
Fine, fine. I'll put the Parasite Eve in parentheses.

But it's not a Parasite Eve game. It's an Aya Brea game. Square Enix is no longer using the Parasite Eve branding or franchise, which is why the game is not called Parasite Eve. It is probably also the reason why none of the Parasite Eve games will ever be re-released.

This is gonna be a huge PSP year for me since I just got the system and have alot to catch up on (wheres that psp game recommendations thread when ya need it) and seemingly alot (of grinding) to look forward to!

Totally importing the .hack//Link super special edition if for no other reason then to add it to my .hack collection!

Okay. [Parasite Eve Spiritual Sequel:] The 3rd Birthday.

I'd say that's fair.

I don't see why it is so hard to just call it by what the title is. The game is called The Third Birthday. It's a third person shooter style action RPG starring Aya Brea. That's what Square Enix is calling it, that's what they will market it as.

I want those Ys games, god do I want them.

Really hope someone picks them up (please Falcom).

Nirolak, for the whole Parasite Eve\Third Birthday thing, just go with this

The Third Birthday [A game staring Aya Brea, the main character from Parasite Eve which this game isn't a part of], that should solve the problem.

Also, according to Amazon, Lunar's dated for Feb 2nd. Anyone know if its going to get a PSN release. I'd prefer to play it on my Go if possible.

I just hope all these games are available on PSN. I really want to dump my 2000 for a Go, but the whole licensing nonsense with Kingdom Hearts has me worried.

It's mainly because I imagine this is how people are going to relate to it best.

It seems to be sharing themes and characters from Parasite Eve, but without the IP because they don't have it.

It at least seems a notable aspect of the game. Technically Supreme Commander isn't fully related to Total Annihilation, but that didn't stop a lot of its initial interest to be generated from its relations.

If you really want me to, I'll remove the tag and just leave it as The Third Birthday, but I feel it's notable.

Wasn't there also a Hot Shots mini game collection that was released in Japan a while back? No hope for a western release of Disaster Report 3, either?

And Spike has done a couple more Kenka Bancho games too. Don't know if they're too niche for the OP though.

Obviously The 3rd Birthday is going to be targeted at people who liked Parasite Eve, there's no question about that. But the point is that IT IS NOT THE GAME'S TITLE. I don't see why you're so adamant on adding crap to a title in some desperate attempt to get people to notice it. You know why people have no idea wtf it is? Because the game has not really been revealed yet. That's why. There is no marketing, there is no real information, and they're not ready to raise awareness of the game. When they are ready, there won't be anyone who reads about the game who will not know it is related to Parasite Eve. You don't have to do their job for them.

Alright. The title is change, and I also noticed the genre was outdated, so I updated it to Third Person Shooter.

Edit: Also, is it The 3rd Birthday or The Third Birthday? I'm not sure which it's been changed to lately.
