Heavenly Sword's final boss may have the poorest design ever

bish gets all the credit :)
I won't even touch on the terrible combat or the motion controls.

Phase 1: Circle arena with 100s of enemies passing through, all the while being attacked from an enemy you can barely see through the crowd of people. All the enemies on screen make the game run at 15fps, which makes dodging his ranged attacks a crapshoot.

Phase 2: Circle arena again, but now the boss has giant black wings that obscure every single attack you do. The center of the screen is just a big blob of black with flashes of white from your sword.

Phase 3: Hey, lets combine both of them. Add the 100 enemies walking through along with the giant black wings that obscure everything, "that will make an exciting fight."

this boss gets a 1/10.

I rented Heavenly Sword, got to the last boss and gave up in frustration and boredom.

I enjoyed the rest of the game (unlike many), but I hated the final boss.

Basically my situation, except I got it for free instead of rental.

I think DMC4's final boss fight is worse. Took me 20 minutes of jumping from platform to platform :\

I thought it was the best boss fight in the game (possibly because it ripped off elements of the Zeus fight from GOW2). But I didn't really like any of them except him and Flying Fox. I thought those were relatively better. I did not like the game overall, however.

All you had to do was time your roll with his attacks.

Everything else was straightforward and easy to figure out. Those fodder soldiers did absolutely nothing.

Sure, it could have been designed better, but it was still decent.

Do people really think he was THAT hard? I beat him on my 2nd try on Normal mode. Are you playing on hard?

DESIGNED LIKE SHIT, not difficulty.

1. Make game run at 15fps
2. Obscure combat details
3. Combine the two

Outside of renting, I bought. Same thing applies though.

Fun game, but I'm still shocked at how long it took for an attack to come out when I pressed a button.

*press button*

Nariko: "I'll swing my sword when I get around to it you pussy!"

That lag time was offensive.

Despite the thread title I still clicked in. Having never finished my copy, which I've left at home, I just ordered this again. Really cheap and had been looking forward to taking it up again.

I've always been intrigued by this game. I guess now that GOW3 is around the corner it doesn't really matter. :P

Do I have a different memory of the game from everyone else? The only thing that had a delay was the heavy sword mode, and that was because of the longer animation.

I enjoyed the game but HATED the final boss. Like the op said, shit design.

Rage quit and gave up for months. Then decided I should complete the game properly so I used a guide.

Fucker

Throwing tons of dudes at you during boss fights is one of the shittiest hallmarks of this generation of games.

It's like the devs tried to think of a way to make their boss interesting and challenging for about 3 minutes, before throwing up their hands and giving up.

Heavenly Sword was easily one of the worst heavily advertised hack n' slashers to come out this gen. Just about everything new it tried to do, ended up in failure. Not allowing you to jump was the biggest mistake.

Reminds me of the Arkam Asylum last boss. Now that shit was terrible.
Huh? If you randomly button mash, then it's a pain, but if you take the time to learn how to chain combos then it's one of the more enjoyable boss battles in the game.

Yeah, the final boss in HS was pretty bad. For some reason the final boss of Lost Planet made me far more angry.

Sorry this award goes to teh Conan game

I'm not alone?! Oh shit, I thought I was the only one here to have been submitted to that abstract terror in polygonal form. Hold me!

i've never played heavenly sword, but...

i've played my fair share of games, some which may be equated to nothing more than thinly-veiled boss rushes. and, in my history of gaming, i've got to say i've never encountered a more lazily designed boss than the lambent brumak in Gears of War 2. that thing was a joke.

That wasn't really a boss fight though. That was just a participatory cut scene/cool moment. That entire Brumac riding think was just an over the top ending to the actual gameplay of the final level. It was extremely easy on purpose

The games last boss fight was really the fight against the general about 2 levels before that.

I discovered the Secret Origins of Heavenly Sword. No joke.

I shall detail this on youtube within one weeks time.

BELIEVE.
