Hey guys please recomend me some "sci-fi" anime movies / series or even manga that are simiar to ghost in the shell or "time of eve". Something set in a "near feature" with robots (but no aliens) and high tech shit.

Well as far as manga Battle Angel Alita was already mentioned

I would recommend the manga Blame! (It's my avatar) but it isn't for everyone.

It's not like GITS but if you like sci-fi in general I would recommend Outlaw Star if you haven't already seen it.

have you seen Evangelion?

I've watched quite a bit of anime (more than the average guy, at least), and I'm having a real hard time thinking of anything that really fits the bill as being comparable to GITS, but one that immediately jumps to mind is Ergo Proxy.

It's like Fallout meets Equilibrium. It gets really fucking trippy towards the end, but it's worth it in my opinion.

Ergo Proxy looks great :)

I know i said gits but please dont take it to serious. What i meant are animes/series/manga that are playing in a near future with many cool hightech things going on. With "technic" that could become real. Nothing overly strange like laser guns and flying alien machines or strange monsters. Gits (anime and series) fits this perfectly, so does the movie minority report or irobot or blade runner.

Perfect example would be the HL Mod NeoTokyo too (you know the mod with the best soundtrack on this planet ;) )

Also like i said things like "time of eve" (if you dont know it you can watch it here: http://www.crunchyroll.com/library/Time_of_Eve)

Darker than Black is a pretty good show.
I don't know, he might be looking for something deeper than loli-of-the-month.

Seriously though, Hei jumps from one loli to another.

Planetes
Serial experiments lain
Akira.
Megazone 23 (this has aliens though iirc).
Astro boy!

There's also ergo proxy, but personally the only thing i really liked about it was the end song and the setting, the rest bored me. Other people like it though.

Planetes - a great hard sci-fi anime about garbage men in space. It's better than it sounds.
gotta back up Planetes. Easily my favorite anime.

Have you seen it, because last time I checked it's not similar to GitS.
What kind of question is this? If you haven't' seen Neon Genesis Evangelion, and you're looking for Sci-fi anime's set in the near future... ...

Watch NGE if you haven't, regardless of similarities to GITS.

Also might want to check out:
- Ergo Proxy
- Animatrix
- GANTZ

Well if you just watched the GITS movie you need to watch the tv show. GITS Stand Alone Complex, specifically the 2nd Season is pretty much the best anime can get.

Anyway other sci-fi anime to watch.

Gasaraki
Armored Trooper Votoms
Macross Plus
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Cowboy Bebop

I also recommend GITS: SAC (the abbreviation always makes me think of something pervy) both 1st and 2nd gigs. They both cover a social phenomenon that is quite similar to the way Anonymous operates. They have awesome animation, awesome music, awesome characters, and awesome stories.

Planetes handles the sci fi stuff really well. It doesn't draw attention to itself, it's just there. Low gravity space stations and all that. The actual show is more of a mixed bag (the first six episodes are different shades of terrible), but there are enough high points to stick with it.

The only thing that's like Ghost in the Shell is Ghost in the Shell, or Appleseed, as they have the same creator.

Everything else is really just a different kind of sci-fi show, and isn't that similar to Gits at all.

Gits is cyberpunk, which makes it fairly unlike everything else. Serial Experiments Lain is the only other show I can think of that also deals with the same themes with any kind of depth, but that show is hugely different to Gits.

If you want similar action and setting, but no plot similarities and no robots then

Denno Coil

A great show, that's unfortunately nothing like Gits but still a necessary watch.

The truth. While Ergo Proxy may have a sci-fi setting it's nothing like Gits and really, nothing like any other show. It's more like a philosophy class. The shotgun is a lie.

Except Episode 16. You know which one I mean.

For general sci-fi, there's plenty of good stuff that's already been mentioned, but not :
Venus Wars. If you want your sci-fi setting with some action, it's the movie to watch.

Try Heat Guy J, although it's very different from GiTS in terms of atmosphere. More like Cowboy Bebop with an actual plot.

Agreed, i have no idea why people hate the first few episodes. The show pretty much "hooked" me from the first episode, because i loved the interactions between the characters.

Preachy, contrived and heavy-handed much? Every time Tanabe went on one of her rants I wanted to slap her. No, you are not entitled to hold a coffin hostage while trying to persuade the dead guy's daughter against her and her father's wishes on what to do with the body.

Despite that, I'm a fan! Episode 7 blew me away, as did Yuri's backstory. I'm on the final stretch right now, and the character interactions (not just the leads, either!) are seriously good stuff.

Classic Anime Thread and NeoGaf top Anime Thread as well, obviously.

People have plenty of problems with her, for obvious reasons, but her character doesn't change that much from the start of the show. It's not like she suddenly gets better. Everyone else may do, somewhat. I don't believe she taints all the opening episodes.

I personally found that part of her character to be rather amusing and cute in a way.:lol and i generally can't stand pacifist characters - relena from gundam wing i'm looking at you!

And always assumed such naive characters were just the result of ridiculous writing, but after going to University...

nothing will top GITS, not even western sci-fi shows, it's that good
Well idk about western shows ,but as far as anime goes this is true. It really isn't that bad. Only show outside of Cowboy Bebop that my mother actually liked and when non anime fans like it that says something.
