He knows its on the way. ;)

That's right! I pulled through with this request and made it even more epic. It's an all GAF cast for the upcoming show. BishopTL, Crazymoogle, and Firestorm are coming on to talk the usual: getting in and experiencing the video game industry.

If you want to know what Bish and Crazymoogle are up to, tune in and listen to the show when it comes up on Sunday, August 29th. Firestorm is just tagging along as a guest of my special segment.

Remember, this show is all about helping people get into the industry, so please post relative questions for these fellas.

One more thing. Hoping you guys got questions before tomorrow 4pm PST. After that, we'll be recording the show.

Dear BishopTL,

Are you black?

All the best!

God.

Even better: What's the connection with the Sam L. avatar?

Q: Which one describes you more? Start all the way down the ladder with QA and testing slowly working your way up, or come out with a bang starting your own company, designing your own game concept and pitching it to some of the biggest publishers?

Firestorm is in the game industry?
Nope! Still in school. I think I belong more to the target audience of the podcast than anything so maybe I'll say things that people listening have on their mind!

With Crazymoogle you've got to have some fantasy football talk. Whether fantasy football is a part of the gaming industry amongst other browser and facebook games or if its an entertainment substitute. If Fantasy football (and the box office stock site) could represent an area of growth or entry into the industry with a Sim genre based on real world data. Also have him give this years busts and sleepers.

Wondering if it's hard to not take it personally when bishop/crazymoogle send their games off to reviewers. Or just generally what it's like to see your baby get critiqued

Edit: I guess that's not really related to getting into the industry, sorry

All right, serious question. Are there any non-journalism writing jobs that aren't freelance and how difficult is it to get one/what kind of qualifications should you have?

How far up the ladder do you have to climb to have a decent amount of creative control over a script/scenario? Or is it just better to hire a freelancer in that situation?

I dont know what kind of games Crazymoogle does, but I would dearly like to understand how the iterative process works when it comes to game design, i.e. when designing an open world game and deciding on a city (GTA4 for example) how long does it take to get from :Lets just build New York, to :lets reinterpret New York.

Essentially I want to know about the streamlining process from idea to game and how those ideas are tested and then implemented into a game.

For Bish, and please don't ban me for this. When a game doesn't get the kind of critical reception that a team is expecting, how does the feedback/improvement process work? Does the whole team sit down in a big conference room and get a listing of all the reviews and forum posts?

What happens "post game" is there a developer game plus?

A very good question! Theres definitely been one or two memorable "WTF" moments. :lol

I'm already concerned though, I mean what if Firestorm does not exactly look like Charmander? :lol

Question for you guys (not sure what games Crazymoogle does, and vaguely familiar with what Bish does):

Do you find that a lot of your wants/ideas/suggestions for the game are stifled by the publisher or other members of the dev team, or is there a lot of openness and willing to listen to ideas in the industry?

Are there any games that have inspired you to get into the industry or inspire you when you are in development?

Q: When creating stories, characters or worlds do you ever use random thoughts, dreams or visions that you've come accross in daily life?

FU: How did you go about implementing them into game form?

Q: how do you feel about outsourced beta testing?

Q2: Playstation Network Game Sharing - your personal take on it. David Jaffe first approved the concept but recently called it 'a total load of bullshit'. How do you feel about this?

Q3: Eastern Eggs and cheats - now considered a thing of the past How do feel about them and the fact that they are missing from most games now?

I have a few questions if you guys don't mine, but I'll preface by stating my current situation.

I'm currently a student in a four year program. At the moment, I'm double majoring in Gaming and Simulation Engineering Technology and Game and Simulation Developmental Arts. I am heavily considering just minoring in Game/Simulation Engineering and focusing my major on the Developmental Arts. As for the questions:

1. How much do degree's like the one I'm in help in obtaining a job in the industry?

2. I'm more artistically inclined, so my focus is somewhere along the art side of things. Does it help that I would be graduating with a minor in Programming?

3. Just how difficult in general is it to land a job in the industry? I'll be willing to work just about anywhere as long as I can get my foot in the door.

4. How competitive/difficult is it trying to land a job in the more art oriented side of the industry?

If you guys could answer any of these questions at all I'd be happy. Can't wait to listen to the podcast! :D
