Judge: Let lesbians into military so male GIs can turn them straight

"Lesbians should be allowed to serve, gay men should not," declared Joe Rehyansky in an article published Monday. Rehyansky, an Army veteran who served in Vietnam, is a part-time magistrate in Hamilton County, Tennessee, and a former assistant district attorney.

In the original article, Rehyansky concluded that his lesbians-only policy "would get the distaff part of our homosexual population off our collective ‘Broke Back,’ thus giving straight male GIs a fair shot at converting lesbians and bringing them into the mainstream."
 
I'm not sure if I can comprehend the functioning of Mr Rehyansky's brain.

That alarmed some LGBT activists, who note that much of the article before that comment argued that men are rapists by nature. Rehyansky's argument that gay men should continue to be banned from the military was based on this notion:

In the early evolutionary years of the human species, Rehyansky argued, "It fell to men to swing through the trees and scour the caves in search of as many women as possible to subdue and impregnate — a tough job but someone had to do it."

Writing at TBD.com, Amanda Hess reads between the lines of Rehyansky's article: "Once all the lesbians are easily accessible in one place, an army of straight dudes will turn them all straight, presumably through that time-tested tactic of subduing and impregnating women against their will."

But how would rape make them straight? Sounds more like he's highlighting male sexuality as if to imply lesbians would be attracted to that. I don't know, I think that's what he's saying

This is the dumbest thing I've read all day. Obviously you have some sort of objective report on the situation to back this up, right?
 
I came in here feeling bad for the OP, thinking he was about to get banned for posting an article from The Onion as an actual story.

It was a joke.

Yet, the support side of the military is full of lesbians. I spent four years active and two and half years in the reserves. Three different units. Most people know and it is a big joke.


Also, my job the last six months (injury sidelined me to HHQ) during active duty was helping discharge people. On the average lesbians are discharged more often because the men seem to hide it a lot better.

Uh yeah...he seems to be advocating rape all right. He's not wrong about the rape being natural in an evolutionary sense, but we've sort of moved past that...last I checked.

It's just kind astounding how people can't see that they're on the wrong side of history (not to mention morality, in this case).

Think he's saying that they aren't really gay, because being gay is a choice, and as soon as they meet some real men they'll decide that being straight is right.

The dumbest thing I've read all day is that we should allow lesbians to serve openly so that men can "convert" them.

Seems like a judge should be as non political as possible, separation of powers and all that.
