Rough translation:

Here's a story you will not find anywhere else yet, and moreover, an exclusive French, see International ! As the title tells you, here is the name of the next map pack for Halo Reach the Defiant Map Pack ! Again thank you to our ninjas for this extraordinary action, and rather quickly. But now, talking more in detail about this new map pack. Before you disclose everything, I wish to inform you that it is possible that this pack is not made available to the public , for the simple reason that it is also a test for another map pack . Be careful again, but rest assured, you can certainly put your feet on the land.

Let's start with the contents of this pack, which includes 2 multiplayer maps , and little novelty in the DLC card Firefight ! Bearing sweet names Sentenced and Highlands , the map shows it is called FF Unearthed , here also, an overview of recent, at least the icon of the cards you will see appear in your list in local content, in the order listed:

This is typed card BTB, but how to Storm, playable 4 against 4 very easily. This pack will weigh 450MO, and certainly available (if appropriate) for 800 Micosoft Point:

- Unearthed : As a card for the baptism of fire, will be easily playable at 4 against an army of Covenant , and it seems even more open than can be map On the Beach.
- Condemned : It is situated in space, and seems to be human in the frigate destroyed during the mission "A long night of comfort", namely the Savannah . Playable 4 against 4 as it will accommodate the best 12 players .
- High-lands : Map apocalyptic situation, because during your battles, a croisseur Covenant will be happy to lead the rest through its firing to vitrify Reach, as you can see in the pictures below. This card could be adapted to be used as qu'Invasion, and all other game modes, and can accommodate from 8 to 16 players . This card draws much of the essence of Halo: CE .

And for your enjoyment, here are some pictures of these same cards, at least, more particularly from Terre Haute . We are sorry the quality of these images, we have not yet at our disposal a HD capture card , so we had to content ourselves with our poor cameras, waiting again for new ways to buy a digital SLR (joke).

That first image made me lol so hard. Well played Dax.

Otherwise, looks interesting, but wheres my fucking Forge World Part 2?

You know, it would be cool as hell to play a Halo universe game from the perspective of a merchant/mining ship captain and his/her crew. Sorry because it's not entirely on-topic, but damn...would be neat. Would be what Mace Griffin dreamed of being. Starflight/Star Control 2 in the Halo universe.

And also, Firefight love.

As I said in the Reach thread, the only kind of Firefight map missing at this point is a larger-scale vehicle map, and this is sounding like one. So between that and the BTB map, I'm one happy camper.

Yeah. That, too.

Only 2 MP maps, 1 firefight map (which should have come out a long time ago with the last pack) and Armor lock is still in Team Slayer.

No purchase.

Needs to be at least another MP map, a lot of people are going to be pissed if it's only 2.

I play a decent amount of Firefight, so this map pack being one FF map and two MP maps doesn't bother me that much. Heck, I've been requesting a FF map based around vehicles for awhile now.

As I said in the OT, High-Lands will probably (hopefully) fill my Valhalla craving, and has a chance of dethroning Tempest as most gorgeous map.

Condemned sounds interesting from the description of it.

Will buy day one, if it includes no armor lock.

Do Brutes count?

Firefight: Nice to have a new map. I play FF and MP so I'm cool with this. I thought for sure that they would go with a FF only map pack, but this works for me too. Maybe not so much for others...

ForgeWorld2: Hopefully one of these has a new forge palette associated with it. We can always dream. For more info try to find out what "boring gray blocks" is in French then scan the original article for those words. That should answer our questions.

Personally I think the game is sorely in need of Invasion maps rather than Firefight ones. There's plenty of FF but still only 3 Invasion ones (inlcuding the DLC one). Maybe it's just because Invasion is one my most played modes in Reach but I really would like something new for that. Especially after how awesome Breakpoint is with it's cool custom parts and slightly different gameplay.

It really does need it. I was more upset about not having a vehicle map when the game shipped than I am now about having one less multiplayer map that we didn't already have.

It's not hard to make multiple blocks with different geometry and different textures and put them into the pool of items you can use, or make some REAL colour toggles, not just accents.

It really, really isn't.

MULTI-PARAGRAPH RANT ABOUT HOW I ONLY PLAY MULTIPLAYER AND WE'RE ONLY GETTING TWO MULTIPLAYER MAPS FOR :10bux: SO FUCK M$ AND FUCK BUNGIE AND STUFF CUZ GOSH

Anyways, I'm hyped for this. I wish it was 3 MP maps since I hardly ever touch FF, but I know i'll play it for this, so it's fine by me :) Maps look gorgeous, btw.

800 MSP
No armour Lock
Fox Only
Final Destination

Seriously 2 mp maps and a firefight map? that's straight out suck.

Don't they usually make the previous map pack free when they release a new one?
That was the plan for halo 3 but microsoft wanted more of your moolah so only the first pack became free to pad out the low limited stock MP map count, the other map packs either dropped to half price a long time after or stay at full price.

I think they're doing a good job of filling in the gaps in the launch line up. The first pack was correctly focused on MP, since it had the biggest swath of game types to cover. Invasion, BTB and symmetric 4 v 4 maps were all lacking, so filling them in worked well. And this map continues to fill in the 4 v 4 and BTB spaces, while also notching the one area missing from the Firefight lineup.

Given the diversity of game types and modes in Reach, I think they've hit a pretty nice balance.

And I can stop trying to grind my Vehicular Firefight commendation with turrets and the Ghost on Beachhead now. Yay.

Microsoft has not done that since the first map pack from Halo 3.

What's that shitty first picture?

I'm interested in checking out the smaller map. Hopefully we'll get a walk through of some sort.

I don't mind the pack in and of itself, but yeah the price. $60 for XBL + $10 kills the enjoyment for me of a franchise I really want to love. TF2 on steam haz spoildz me. :(

Coke used to cost a nickel and a dollar got you an acre of land...sarcasm aside, they've sort of stopped doing that.

Better question: can we speculate on a release date? I know in the OT people were saying April but is there a chance we see these sooner? What is the usual amount of time that passes between the French leak and the actual release of a Halo related product? There is a history here.

That was when Bungie controlled pricing in Halo 2. Now it's all up to MS and there's no way theyre letting that much money slip through their fingers.

CozMick said:
I don't have the game at hand, but how many maps were there at retail that don't include Forgeworld remakes?
Eight, six excluding the Invasion maps. And I think nine Firefight maps. (e: eight maps.)

$2 multiplayer maps for $10 is a raw deal. Then again I didn't buy the first pack and I don't play Reach that often to begin with (so I'm content with what's on disc), so Bungie probably doesn't care about my opinion.

*Remembers when Halo 2 released two big DLC packs that had four and five maps in each respectively :(

It's a shame Bungie hasn't released more traditional MP maps. They had around 23-24 MP maps in Halo 2 and that was a last-gen game. Halo 3 had one more, I believe, and it seems Reach is dealing that same fate, if even that... Ugh.

vhfive, reminds me of Halo 2's release in '05. It dealt out five maps (Relic, Terminal, Elongation, Backwash, Gemini -- safe to say Terminal and Relic well alone worth it).

Maptacular Pack is a downloadable content package for Halo 2. It was released on July 5th, 2005, for $11.99.

I was really hoping the rumored Halo CE remake would be a huge map pack add on for reach including the greats from CE and 2 :(

Shame really, would of been wonderful to play Zanzibar again.

Bummer I was excited that this meant the first map pack would now be free. Looks like I was wrong. I bought all of Halo 3's map packs day one so I didn't realize they stopped : (

Too much to hope for, but it would be cool if they released the CE remake ODST style. One disc CE campaign, one disc Reach MP with new maps (CE MP remakes or whatever).

Ramirez said:
Wow, wasting their time for the 5% of the population who cares about FF.
More like 10%, which is worth tossing one of six maps to. There are more players in combined Firefight playlists than BTB, for comparison, which is getting multiple maps between the packs.

Well, I stopped playing Reach since a long time, but if Firefight hasn't improved (meaning being as great as it was in ODST), the "hate" is justified IMO.

Dahellisdat said:
I'm still waiting for some remakes of some of the classic halo 2 and 3 maps.
Yep me too. I'm so bored with the current offering and none of the Reach maps are as fun as most of Halo 2's maps.

They just implemented a lot of changes yesterday. Most of them are great and worth a try.

Um, that's not the kind of Firefight hate he was talking about...you know what...nevermind.

Just a heads-up: there have been a lot of great changes to FF in Reach since the game launched. I'm sure Ghaleon will be along shortly to evangelize. You should give it another try (with a group of friends).

I was just wondering the other day if there would be another Reach map pack released. I still haven't got around to buying and playing the first one.

For anyone who comes here just to check the thread out and is unaware of what's in this map pack consider that of the three maps only 2 will be used for online multiplayer. The third map is locked into just one playlist. It can't be used in multiplayer and it can't be forged.

I'm not a Firefight hater. I like it. My problem is that FF maps should have never been a consideration if it meant one less map for regular multiplayer. FF has what? 900-1000 people in it any given time? Maybe less? Even if the number was around 4,000 or so the majority of the people playing this game are doing it in regular multiplayer.

What most people are getting with this map pack is essentially 2 maps for 800 points. Also worth noting is that only one of them is a 4 vs 4 map. Sure, BTB needs good BTB maps not anymore half assed creations from Forge World or forced in Invasion maps, but the small symmetrical offerings from the game are really not enough and I think many fans wanted to see more additions there.

They look excellent, I'll be picking them up for sure.

And what's with the French and Halo leaks, really?

That's a pretty good number considering how many players are on the other playlists when I'm on. Which is around 1000.
