Red Faction: Battlegrounds dated. Free for PlayStation Plus Subscribers.

THQ's downloadable shooter, Red Faction: Battlegrounds is slated for an April 5 release. This according to a PlayStation Network news letter that has been hitting inboxes this week.

The Juice Games-developed top-down twin-stick shooter will run you $10 if you're just a normal. But if you're a super-special PlayStation Plus subscriber, I have good news: it'll be free! THQ will get you on the backend, though -- its already planning downloadable content for the downoadable title.

Battlegrounds is also slated to hit Xbox Live Arcade, but there's no word yet on when we can expect that.

Sauce.

THQ and their PS+ love.

The 12+3 month subscription to Plus has paid for itself probably 3 times over for me by now. If Sony keeps the goods coming I'll make sure I resub when I run out. This sounds fun, depending on how it plays.

No kidding on the PS+ subscription. So much for all the hate at the beginning, I can't even tell you how much free stuff I have gotten over the months.

Yeah same here, interest is way down since I remember disliking the beta. I do hope this trend continues though.

Yep. And the next couple weeks is stacked with free stuff:

Comet Crash
Red Faction: Battlegrounds
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks
Vector TD

The problem is that it's so up in the air, you never know what you'll get. I have PS+ but I like my recurring payments to have concrete advantages every month. It's okay and i'm sure i'll get better but I'm not a huge fan of this roulette style benefits.

Has anyone tracked how much money is saved with all the free stuff you can get?

Has this been confirmed for NA or only EU? I'll probably play Sonic 2 for the trophies like I did for Sonic 1.

Comet Crash is brilliant btw.

Wait so are they starting to double dip on the games they are offering for free? Abe's Exoddus, A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks and Vector TD have all been offered for free before.

they put them back up but that doesnt mean that they arent offering new stuff at the same time. So they put one new and one old (before it would just be one new and thats it) so in reality we dont lose anything from them doing that

Oh ok, thats fine with me as long as its not screwing those that have subscribed since the beginning.
