Yeah, Lara is quite the talker in this one.

They weren't pulling any punches on her being hurt either.

For a game that's this early in development, it's very well polished in a gameplay aspect. I'm ready to play it NOW.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I could swear that the scene where she's falling and grabs the ledge has the exact same animation and camera angles as one Uncharted scene.

It's very clear where they have taken a lot of inspiration.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Ugghhhhhh Ooooohhhhh Ehhhhh!!!

Looks promising, I could do without the "Survivor Vision" and QTEs though.

Looks great. I'm pretty sure Batman detective vision can be turned off, so I won't be using it.

The va is fine and the atmosphere is pretty heavy. I just wish they would adjust her animation to the situation at hand. She had a pole go straight through her torso...I don't imagine that she should be making jumps like she's pole vaulting in the olympics.

I'm looking forward to it.

They show off QTEs at events because they're easier to polish, look more cinematic to the normal people, and have less chance of screwing up. I'm happy enough just to see the look of it ingame

I really wanted to see combat. Looks like a better Tomb Raider concept than the previous games though.

This may become my first Tomb Raider game ever, the old formula just never clicked with me, this one really might ! O_O

Nothing shown to get hyped about this game at all and yet at the same time not enough shown to go 100% doom and gloom.

They need to show something of actual substance before I can form any sort of actual opinion.

The way the camera follows behind like someone walking is really cool. Is there any game currently out that does this?

didnt like how they changed Lara's character, Lara was always a very strong woman in the previous game, but they make her seems weak in this game Tomb Raider

Yup, getting huge Uncharted vibes here. That's a damn good thing.

Wasn't everyone saying the opposite when Uncharted was announced though?

you would talk to yourself to in that situation
You talk to yourself in times of lull, not when you're putting yourself on fire and running for your life, or having a hard time breathing in a cave or being chased by a bad man. The human body knows when to conserve the energy and just act on instinct. A woman in her situation's adrenaline would be so pumped she wouldn't be able to complete a sentence. Then there's the context of being in a cave where the ceiling can fall on you and you SEEN with your very eyes a wall fall on someone.

And, regardless of the realism, the constant voice acting will get grating to the player. That's what counts most. It's not like she's saying anything helpful or useful to the gameplay or character...unless they want me to think lara is annoying and won't shut up. Then, go right ahead and continue the incessant monologuing.

It is an open world adventure game with heavy emphasis on survival. What they showed on stage was the opening segment, which is understandably heavily scripted. And since they're showing the game for the first time... Of course they'll go for the wow factor before anything else.

I think we at least need to wait for an actual reveal of different gameplay mechanics before we start complaining.

I really liked the camera too. There are brief moments employing that kind of camerawork in Uncharted 2 and God of War 3. I guess Kane & Lynch 2 had a crazy shaky cam too, but this is more subtle. The whole stumbling injured section is straight out of Uncharted 2's intro. (Which is not to say it's a ripoff or Naughty Dog are the only people who could have thought of such a thing.)

I hope she screams and moans less as the game progresses, indicating her gradual transition to explorer-badass/animal-murderer.

Too much chatter by the voice actress. Lara's escaping from a cave. She shouldn't be making so much noise. Really lessens the immersion. Otherwise it looks great.

You forgot to add "praising."
Right now it looks like a basic QTE game with good graphics and stupid hl2 style physics puzzles. Any other assumptions are just that.

Lots of influence from Heavy Rain inherent in that footage. I'm not sure what works for Quantic Dream may translate so well to a Tomb Raider game.

Wow, I rewatched it and the part where Lara is neck deep in water is pretty unnerving. I hate the thought of being in a dark cave with water.

Makes sense contextually though. Being a prequel, this was before she was doing all the asskicking of the games in the latter part of the story line

CD hinted at her character evolving throughout the game, so I expect her to become stronger later on.

I'm not sure. Lara's VA was a bit awkward at times, especially with all that moaning, but it wasn't that bad after all.

Jesus that looks horrible

to endure! THE GAME LOOKS GREAT! :D

edit: Dialogue is a bit.... OH NOOO! GET OFF ME!

She also has lots of pain and has no trouble jumping up a scaffolding (Drake from uncharted suffered from the same 'problem')

But other than that I'm really looking forward to this.

I bet the main purpose of the demo was to show off the graphics and animations. They've yet to demonstrate what the game was really about, which is surviving and adventuring in an open world.

So yes, it's a bit too early to either complain or praise, but to say it looked like a basic QTE game is just completely disregarding everything we've read about the game.

I'm so happy they have another year and a half to work on this. It looks amazing graphically and conceptually, now they have plenty of time for the gameplay and polish.
