Connectivity comes courtesy of quad-band GSM and penta-band WCDMA radios, plus Bluetooth 2.1, NFC, and GPS. There is also a dedicated camera button for the 8 megapixel wide-angle shooter, which is capable of aperture F2.2 for low light picture taking and true 16:9 720p video recording. Oh, and it's an AF shooter, not EDoF.

The entire thing measures 116.45- x 61.2- x 7.6-12.1mm and weighs 135 grams, with a battery capable of lasting up to 50 hours (music), 4.5 hours (720p video), or between seven and 11 hours (GSM yappin'). You'll also get gratis turn-by-turn drive and walk navigation with voice guidance in Maps, a dedicated Drive app, proximity sensor and a choice of hue: black, cyan, and magenta. Other hardware specs include 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, an ambient light sensor, compass, orientation sensor, a micro SIM slot, tethering support and a 3.5mm "AV connector." It'll be humming along on MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan, with apps being compliant with Qt 4.7 and HTML5 support bundled in.

What!?!? I thought they'd jumped on the Microsoft pain train entirely?

Welp, I guess I'll buy one. Resolution is kinda disappointing, no hardware keyboard is kinda annoying, but eff it, Linux phone = I'm in.

More like send to die.

Nokia's contractual obligation to intel.

N900 II, Electric Boogaloo.
N900 II would be pretty sweet, I can do all sorts of bizarre stuff on this phone. Trying to multitask on a single-core processor = :( though.

Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see a CPU listed in these specs.

Processor: ARM Cortex-A8 OMAP3630 1 Ghz,
PowerVR SGX530

And it comes with Angry birds preloaded!

Good battery times as usual on nokia phones.

Operating Times
• Talk time: (GSM/WCDMA) up to 11 h / up to 7
hours
• Standby time: Up to 450 hours (WCDMA), up to
380 hours (GSM)
• Video playback (720P): up to 4.5 hours
• Music playback: up to 50 hours

Oddly enough I wasn't expecting this to look so cool.... I'm really digging this...

Also odd is how much I think the color scheme and type face remind me of WP7.

Single core? That's a bummer.

Sent to die confirmed. =(

Not to tangent, but as much as I love google and android as well as hp/palm and webos but IMO it's amazing to see what someone else can do with a linux core. Shit looks extremely clean and sleek IMO. Plus I swear the black background + type face reminds me of windows phone 7 just with your typical app style grind of icons.

Overall I LOVE the hardware design too. Price is fuck'n regoshdangdonkulous though. Can't wait to see what Nokia hardware looks like for WP. I might have bought a Nokia phone over my Samsung Focus for a device like this.

I think i might buy one, nokia's last hurra before they are converted to the borg. unless iphone 5 is all aluminum phone wrapped in leather

Coperdickus, it's me, your friend dream. You know you can be open and speak freely with dream.

Would you actually buy one of these on a multi year contract?

I'm actually considering it, bought outright.

It'll be my redemption for skipping out on Maemo and the n900. (I should track down my posts from the maemo boards....I did some fanfic OS development very similar to what they're doing with MeeGo)

Nokia are still in the lead, with almost 30% of the global market share.

Apple have something like 5% global market share.
Existence or health of a company is not based on marketshare.

I think dream has a few links you might enjoy reading.

What exactly would you do with it?

That is a sexy phone.

The shell is polycarbonate :/ would of been more desirable if they used metal. But then i dont think they could do that with the curve glass. Why didnt they release this earlier? This design puts htc motorola to shame. Even tho it reminds me of the old ipod nano with the curved screen i really like it.

That's not the N9 I've spent months drooling over. :/

Ehhh I think I'll just wait for their WP7 phone unless this tanks and I can pick it up on the cheap.

The video looked nice (except for the application icons) and I like the design. Petaband radio is also very nice. Looking forward to some reviews.

Nokia make stunning phones but it's a pity they won't have the time to make MeeGo a viable platform. Would have been great to have them bring some linux phone knowhow to android. They are the Rare of the phone world.

And yet that photo must be of some kind of device out there...

The N9 is a pretty neat package, though, and makes a welcome alternative to android/iphone. Plus it's a pretty awesome device for developers to work on.
