Narrated by Dakota Fanning, Taken spans five decades and four generations, and centers on three families: the Keys, the Crawfords, and the Clarkes. As the decades go by, the heirs of each are affected by the machinations of the aliens, culminating with the birth of Allie Keys (Fanning). Each family is burdened by it's past and unaware of their shared history, they slowly begin to understand their roles in the present and future.

I started it, didn't care for it (despite the fact I'm really into UFO/alien stuff). I don't know why. It just didn't do anything for me.

... with an ending that contains enough cheese to shut down Kraft, Sargento, Switzerland, and Wisconsin combined.

If you want to see tv sci fi with a Fanning in it, then watch The Lost Room. It's not an alien sci fi show though.

I remember watching it when it originally aired in the UK. Even my mother liked it and she hasn't watched a science-fiction show since the original "V" back in the day.

Liam Neeson

So yeah, I didn't watch this, but I heard it was kinda mediocre. Does anyone have any opinions on this show which does not involve behaving like a 6 year old bandwagoning dumbfuck? :)

Hm, had no idea he was doing mini-series.

And woah o.O did 30 posts get deleted here? What the heck were people posting.

I love how GAF thinks Liam Neeson is a bad ass because of his roll as a pissed off ex CIA agent with a kidnapped daughter in Taken. But little do they know or mention about the Bad Assery of the REAL Liam Neeson who had the strength to pick up the pieces and go back to Work the very next day after the death of his wife of sixteen years, and do his job professionally.

An actors name.

Is this series available on Blu Ray? Would certainly br interested in re-watching it.

I like Spielberg., like, a lot. He owes me too much for me to not check this out.

Although, this sounds quite a lot like Marshlands. The big difference being the aliens, of course.

You have no idea of what just happened in this thread, do you?

I was aware of this mini-series for awhile but hadn't had time to get it, I might be tempted if the consensus is really good.

He produced in back in 2002.

Children derailed the topic as usual.

2002? how have I not heard of this. I desperately need a new series, I've been watching so many re-runs of things lately it's driving me mad.

All you need to know is that justice was served in a hilarious manner.

I watched it when it first aired. I don't really remember much about it, but I remember that the first third of half of the series was pretty good, but the quality really dropped later in the series. It's worth watching, but the second half of the series is kind of weak.

He did it a long time ago. Taken is almost ten years old now.

Saw a couple of episodes of this, but got kinda bored with it. :/

Holy shit,

It's like 10 people got banned taken by saying Liam Neeson's Taken.

lol.

I was shocked to find out its not available on streaming but it's so good I would buy you all the DVD series and ship it if I could afford it. I really recommend renting the DVDs though.

It starts slow for the first few episodes I admit but you should really finish it. I've been waiting for a sequel series for almost a decade!

Boom Goes the thread!!!

Watched the first episode and enjoyed it. Not great but not bad.
Now that it is on watch instantly I will finish it.

I remember watching this back when it aired. I was really into it until sometime towards the end. I should watch it again.

I do now, I was taking my sweet time with my post doing fact checking "16 year marriage" while all the mayhem was going on in the BG I guess.

I still think my post should stick around, although not relevant to the topic. Still a heartwarming, hopeful story.

Have not seen it since it originally aired, but I did not like it at all.

The first half was promising.

I do agree that Falling Skies is awful, though.

Well, I remember looking forward to the series when it was first announced, because of Spielberg's involvement. Somehow I didn't end up watching it when it aired, and it became a backlog thing which I never revisited because I heard disappointing things about the series. Maybe I should rent it or something soon, in memory of those whose lives I have... taken.

The last segment of episodes focusing on the little girl was weaker than the first half about the three families, I agree. But this scene was pretty cool, I have to admit

omg duckroll. What have you become?!!!

Well I watched it years ago and I remember being impressed by Dakota Fanning's acting.
I'm a big sci-fi fan as well and I liked the take on aliens.

I don't know if the show got cancelled or if the ending was planned all along. I don't know if it was meant to be uplifting but I thought it was quite inconclusive and unsatisfying.

But I did watch it again a few months ago and, while I thought some of the characters were a tad one-dimensional, I still liked it.

There...that's my non six year old bandwagoning etc. opinion.

A badass. Almost as badass as
Liam Neeson

Just had a little search on Amazon and the box set is £10. But no Blu-ray which isn't surprising, but still disappointing.

I don't think you can hotlink from IMDB.

I should watch the series again sometime. I haven't watched it since it first aired. I can't believe it's almost been ten years since it aired. I'm getting too old.

His story was the best part of the series.

I'd rather just rent it but Blockbuster has divided the series into 6 parts at £2 each! So I'm better off buying it completely. :(

I would buy it in Blu-Ray in a heart beat and I don't even have a BR player anymore :P. The fact that it isn't available is a mystery. I think there are some discussions of this on the internet as well.

So another Spielberg thing, I still have to see proof (empirically) that he actually directs these things. He obviously exists as I read an article about how he slapped Michael Bays leg whilst watching footage of one of the robot films.

Yeah I'm a fan of Joel Gretsch. I liked him in The 4400 as well (though many on Gaf also hate that show). I wanted to like V for his sake and also what's her face who was in Serenity. But what's her face w/ the perma-scowl and the wooden acting from LOST, and what's his ugly face who played her son were too much for me. I powered through the first season and couldn't bring myself to watch the 2nd.

He didn't direct this. He was an executive producer.

That can mean a lot of different things, but apparently Spielberg is pretty involved in everything he puts his name on.

Spielberg is also the executive producer of all 3 Transformers movies right?
