SNK Classics Becoming Minis on July 19th

We’ve seen SNK arcade games get released as retail titles, in compilations sold at retail, as downloadable titles as part of the NEOGEO Station, and finally now as Minis. Many of these were supposed to be released in the aborted SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 0 compilation, rated by the ESRB years ago.
They will be priced $3 each, with discounts for PS+ members. G1M2 is apparently handling the conversion, so they should offer all sorts of options, like their Data East Minis did. They are mostly quite old (before 1985), and most seem to be shooting games of some kind, but one is a platformer and one a maze game.
The list of games to be released (screens after break):

Athena

Guerilla War

HAL 21

Ikari Warriors

Marvin’s Maze

Ozma Wars

Sasuke vs. Commander

Vanguard

I loves me some Guerrilla War

At least they're not overpriced like their previous games ($6 and $8 for the PSP and PS3 versions, sold separately).

Dear SNK, please port MotW to PSN already!

I don't mean to harsh on their back catalogue, but I'm sick and tired of waiting for the more recent fun stuff to come out. >:|

Is it too much to ask for this game to get the Third Strike Online treatment?

This was SNK's shining moment, but only to be trashed with horrible online in the XBLA release (and sooner or later a PSP mini download).

Ikari Warriors and Guerilla War, awesome

Can you play minis on the PS3? Where beside PSP?
Yes, you can play on PS3 (unless it's Tetris). Vita will play them too, possibly PS Suite devices?

THIS. THIS. THIS.

Why we've had to wait for ports of MOTW and LB2 (much less the UMs) is beyond me, but that really needs to be remedied. And soon.

They should retroactively do this the neo geo stations titles up already. Paying for separate versions is such bullshit.

fixed

What I mean is that Vol. 0 is already out in Japan/Asia. If it was aborted for US, and this is supposed to be in lieu, I will be displeased.

Vol 0 was rated by the ESRB almost 2 years ago. I don't think it's coming...

Depends on the game. I though Alpha Mission 2 was worth $6 and there's plenty of other stuff in the Neo Geo back catalogue that would warrant a release at that price point.

Rickety old shooters don't fall into that category however.

Whats overpriced, I have a 20+ AES collection and some games cost me well over 100 bucks. But I know what you mean. I bought some on the PSS to compare, and was lamenting about the steep pricing :)

League Bowling is still awesome if you have some friends around, though.

Guerilla war with analog stick must be awesome. I think i'm going to pick that one up for nostalgia sake.

I don't care about trophies, so I'm fine with this 'minis treatmant'.

Do you guys know if those old SNK releases on PSN (Fatal Fury, KoF'94 etc) are going to be moved into this new category? Dunno if it's the same on US and japanese PS Store, but here in Europe - after that first bunch of titles - everything basically froze up.

Why would they be moved into a new category? This is all pre-Neo Geo stuff, they would not belong in the NG Station.

Sorry if it sounded stupid, it was actually an honest question. :D

I wondered because Neo Geo Station (at least here in EU) seems discontinued, since it has never seen any other update, after the very first one. Hence why I asked about the possible merging.

Also EU. NG Station seems to be frozen everywhere, SNKP is making sure to squeeze the teet slowly.

I'd love to see these titles pop up on XBL's Gameroom service, but it's great to see them popping up on PSN.

Sure is a lot of odd releases from them lately. Wonder if they'll appear on 3DS DLs next, lol. Ports EVERYWHERE!

I wonder why NeoGeo Station has been so quiet, when VC (in Japan especially) continues to get old NeoGeo games?

It just came out in Japan/Asia. It would be safe to assume a release everywhere else wouldn't be too far off, even if only via PSN.

I wonder why they just didn't release SNK Arcade Classics 0 on PSN instead? Ring me when Psycho Solider is a mini.

I don't see where it was confirmed that vol. 0 was cancelled in the US. It just came out in Japan/Asia.

Exactly. I've been thinking of importing it when I can catch it on the cheap. But maybe if XIII goes well Atlus might pick it up or something.

Glad to know I'm not alone on this one. If it turns out vol. 0 has been passed over in Eagleland, I'm just gonna buy it over at the JP PSN.

Looking back at the crap SNK produced way back then really makes me appreciate Capcom, Namco, and Sega more. They were leagues beyond SNK.
I don't think there's a single pre NEO-GEO game that would still entertain me.

I think the worst part about this is that because they are minis they can be played on both PS3 and PSP, which is what they should of done with the rest of the NeoGeo releases. Only having that functionality for 30 plus year old games is ludicrous.

SNK is treating PSN like shit really. Not only the majority of their games offered listed on PSN are old and obselete games which nobody wants, but they're horribly overpriced.

Seriously, who the hell wants KOF94, FF1, AOF and Samsho 1 in this day and age? It's like they're deliberately trying to make the Neo Geo station a failure.

If they would just do some transfarring, and have it be at PSone classics pricing, I would bite, but as is, just not a great service at all.
