All in all, they give it a pretty good review for a summer popcorn kind of movie that actually has a coherent plot.

I watched the Star Wars one and there`s a bit where they are talking about the original cut (Pre-release) of the film being very dull and lacking pacing. They say 'these guys' came in and re-edited and fixed all the pacing issues. Does anyone know any more about what happened there?

The first cut of Star Wars was a disaster that lacked tension and pacing. Then a new editor was hired and he re-edited the whole movie in a more straight forward traditional way with quick cuts and so on iirc.

Well that's a gist of it. Part of behind the scenes was shown in their RotS review, exact quote being "The first cut of Star Wars was an unmitigated disaster".
Considering how horrendous the first draft of Star Wars was, no wonder what we got when Jorge got full control over the movie.

Star Wars had everything going against it, it's incredible that it succeeded as much as it did.

That`s all the detail that's known is it? I'd love to know what happened behind closed doors on that one.
Theres a bit on it in Empire of Dreams (SW documentary) iirc.
