Good evening ladies & gentlemen, as promised, here's the iPhone ringtone post thread.

NEW to iOS 5 is the ability to set custom sounds for not only your ringer, but for texts and almost everything else!

I'm gonna post a handful of ringtones, and feel free to post your own!

I haven't really had a chance to make any custom alerts yet, but I'll throw those in whenever I get around to it.

Codec.m4r

This is higher quality than the version posted above and created specifically for the iPhone. It was hard to find.

Way too many of those songs in the OP still have intros. It's a ringtone, you need the money at the very start, not 10 seconds in.

My thought when I made them is that if I was able to get to the phone quick enough, the elaborate part wouldn't have started, thus I could avoid public nuisance.

In addition, as the songs get more elaborate they become more distinctive in case they happen to play halfway across the house.

PS. I wish there was a site that released iPhone tone packs, a specific tone for phone calls, texts, voicemail, email, sent mail, tweet, cal alerts and reminder alerts.

I DLed all those Portal RTs, came up to about 20, can't wait to hear them all.

I've tried to keep them all under 30 seconds, that way they can be used as tones for any of them as I iirc the text tones have a 30 second limit, though i doubt I would ever use a long one for a text myself.

So interestingly, the iPod and iPad also have a "Ringtone" option in Sounds.... what exactly is that used for? Seeing as we don't have a phone. FaceTime I assume??

iRingtones is a $1.99 app in the mac app store that makes creating ringtones simple as hell. Drop any sound into there and it will convert it and put it into iTunes. If you put in a song you cans elect which part of it you want. I think it's definitely worth the purchase.

I just use GarageBand that came free with the Mac. But that does seem like a handy app for on the go ringtones making.

Great idea for a thread!

Here's a silent ringtone that I assign to spam callers. It's basically an empty sound file so I don't have to be bothered by certain calls.

and my favorite
Inception "braawwmmm" its perfect for a call ringtone because it repeats perfectly. for the first week it freaked me out when someone would call me to wake me up. It's also a good alrm sound.

I've got a good 120 or so that I'm uploading to dropbox right now. But is it okay to be sharing copyrighted stuff? I guess since they're only 30 seconds they could be considered samples.

Edit: How do I copy the links from inside dropbox?
