DEAD END

Everyone's favorite yandere filled manga has finally got its own anime!

The fuck is a yandere?

You know how some girls are really clingy? Well these girls (and sometimes guys) are REALLY clingy. One minute they're all over you and the next they're trying to kill anyone that gets close to you.

Cool. So what's this shit about?

Stuff.

Yukiteru "Yuki" Amano is a loner who never really interacts with people and prefers writing a diary on his cell phone with his only companion being an imaginary friend named Deus Ex Machina, the God of Time and Space. However, Yuki soon learns that Deus is real when he makes him a participant in a battle royale with eleven other people. Within this "Diary Game", the contestants are given special diaries that can predict the future, with each diary having unique features that gives them both advantages and disadvantages. Within the next 90 days, the contestants must try to kill each other and survive until there is only one person standing, the winner becoming the new God of Time and Space. In order to survive, Yuki tries to find allies, with one of them being another diary user named Yuno Gasai, a girl who is madly in love with him.

So why should I watch it?

Because it's a nonstop train ride of insanity! There's a ridiculous amount of tension, crazy characters, badassery, ridiculous scenarios, etc. Any fans of high-energy drama like Death Note owe it to themselves to check this out.

K, so who are these crazy people?

Yukiteru Amano

WrYeZ.jpg

The main male protagonist of the series and the First Diary user. Also known as Yuki, he is a 14 year old middle schooler who is a rather quiet boy with an anti-social behavior who doesn't talk much. He mostly sees things around him as a bystander and writes it down in his cell phone diary. Yuki becomes involved in the Diary Game when to his shock that Deus, a god-like being whom he thought was an imaginary friend turns out to be real, selects him as one of twelve contestants in a 90 day battle royale where they must kill each other using their special diaries where the last survivor becomes Deus' new heir. Yuki's diary is called the Random Diary, which written from his point of view, gives a detail explanation of his surroundings very accurately whether it be the present or the future.

Yuno Gasai

Q4Oz5.jpg

The main female protagonist and the Second Diary user. Smart, beautiful, and diligent, to most students she is seen as the model student but in reality, she is secretly obsessed with Yuki and constantly stalks him. Having Yandere-like tendencies, she is so obsessed with Yuki that she is willing to hurt or kill anyone who hurts him and is constantly jealous if anyone other than her is getting close with Yuki to the point she won't hesitant to sacrifice them because to her, what's only important is that she and Yuki survive the game. Her diary is the Yukiteru Diary, a diary which gives her details whatever Yuki is doing in the present every 10 minutes. Because it only focuses on Yuki, her diary doesn't details anything about her unless it has to do with Yuki.

Minene Uryu

Y4fVQ.jpg

The secondary female protagonist, the Ninth Diary user and the protagonist of the side-story manga, Future Diary: Mosaic. An infamous atheist terrorist, Minene is a young woman who has hatred against organized religion particular God. Minene's diary is the Escape Diary, which will chart out the best course of actions for her to escape whenever she finds herself in a dangerous situation. While it means she can escape anything, it is not perfect as the diary can only tell her how to escape if there are favorably conditions that allow her any chance to escape.

Where to watch?

Niconico will stream it eventually.

How long is it?

It is a 2 cour show, meaning it will last 26 episodes. Since the manga is 59 chapters, it is quite likely everything will be covered if not a bit rushed in certain areas.

Now pick up your cellphones and try not to die!

Anyone else think the MC looks kinda goofy? (Clothes and stuff). Always thought he dressed real weird.

Watched episode 2 with my anime club today. Everyone loved it, except the parts with all the
I HAVE NO FRIENDS angsty bitching
but overall the series is a fucking blast.

I know this is a trainwreck at the end, but I still like this series so much that I'll probably watch this until the end.

I really like how the anime makes Yuno look even crazier and more disturbing, like the pic in the op and this

Also, topic needs more Minene

Pretty cool so far. The MC is grating on my nerves though, hopefully he starts becoming less of a whiny bitch, but I doubt it. All the other characters are fun though. I'm digging the OP too, nice song there.

Btw, was the omake in ep.2 stuff that was covered in the manga but they didnt have time for in the anime?

I actually hear he becomes less of a bitch, but I have no way to confirm this without spoiling it for myself.

It takes a while, but he does.

I don't remember it tbh, and Minene being disguised as a cop is filler IIRC.

He mans up later on.

Oh shit, I forgot this got an anime!

Let's see how I can drag some friends into watching this shit. I should repay them for all the Code Geass "WAT" I had to experience because of them. :lol

HAPPY END

Oh, I've actually read some of this before. I've kind of been ignorant about a lot of the new stuff this season so I didn't even realize what this was. First episode seemed like the kind of thing I'd enjoy, so I'll probably keep watching this.

Ugh why is cour in vogue all of a sudden? There is nothing wrong with saying season.

Delayed on Niconico and no explanation as to why, much less a new date.

The next episode should be a good one! The chapter was so intriguing and unexpected that it was what really made me decide to follow the comic series. Given the weight of what happens, I hope they don't blow through it too fast, although I expect it.

The meaning of 'season' in the context of TV has been corrupted, so you could be refering to anything from 10-26 weeks or more, but when people say 'cour' you know they're talking about one season's worth of episodes.

That's debatable, in my opinion. Does he become more assertive? Yeah. But, does he make the difficult and bold decisions he should? I'm not so sure. But I will say this: Asking a teenage girl to protect you is so unmanly, he can only level up from there. lol

First two episodes have been really enjoyable. Kinda glad I never got round to reading the manga, and get to go in blind.

So just got into second episode...
They certainly went for shock value with the animated bomb scene. I was there hot pausing for a second like "daaaaamn." :lol

I don't know if I'd be able to make those decisions, if I'm thinking of what your thinking.

Yuno Gasai perfect Waifu material

What do you mean by 'Waifu?' Are you saying she'd make a good wife? I dunno about that. Presuming you've read the series all the way through... well, let's just say her bedroom manners leave something to be desired. :) I'm careful with spoilers, cause that's a big one. The climax chapters were amazing, although the ending was ruined in the last few pages with fan pandering, IMO.

I read all the way to the end, but I honestly can't remember how it ended clearly, I just know that it was quite fucken terrible with universe in universe in universe type shit going on

I'm talking about the 'giant hammer' appearance that ignores the fact that certain characters don't deserve such an ending. Sorry about being vague, I'm just protecting some gaffers who may let their curiosity get the best of them early with these spoiler tags.

Gonna re read the last few chapters, but I think I know what your talking about

I didnt think the anime would actually kill innocents if it is already doing it in episode 2 I cant imagine how much larger scale the series may go into the future
.

I hope it covers the whole manga, I cant really fit in reading this manga series just yet so the anime is my only experience with it.

They're going at a rate of 2 chapters an episode, so I think it will cover it all.

To be fair that teenage girl has a tool that is invaluable to him.

Ep2 spoiler questions:
Where the fuck did that motorcycle come from?

Ep2 spoiler remark:
OH MY GOD. I FELT THAT DART GO INTO MY EYE.... Fucking christ it hurt just to watch.

Not good, not good, not good, not good!

SO GOOD. I have been waiting a lifetime for animated Yuno (the OVA thing doesn't count).

I always thought it like materialized from the diary or something, but that doesn't really make much sense considering the other ones just give informative texts.

Yep, this is an anime. I'm in love with the show two episodes in. There's an actual sense of consequence hinging around every action of the cast. It's a tense but fun watch.

I think it's fair to say shit just got real!

Mirai Nikki - 3

The first half of this episode was pretty boring with a lot of CG amusement rides (and a CG Yuki and Yuno), then it went really sinister, then weird, then back to sinister before mixing in some creepy and a bit more weird. This is so good.

What's up with Yuki though, he looks like he can't dress himself, and not in a "hawhaw rpg character" way because those are usually consistent with with the worlds fashion. But then I guess this is the same character who shuns social interaction so that he can go home, sit on his bed, wrap himself up with his quilt, and type stuff on his phone.

Episode 3

I enjoyed the first part, I was shocked it lasted 13 minutes into the episode though, it felt way longer.
Scene with ninth though was creepy with the paper bag man, I love the parts in the anime when multiple diaries change. For Yuno to be harboring THAT, something to shock even Deus Ex, me jumping in reaction to the scene was expected, cant wait to hear its explanation. Only qualm is that, now Yuki wont have her as a partner if she is truly an enemy now :(

(Posting while I watch it)

-Huh? Minene's past already? That was only brought up in the very late parts of the manga, but I don't mind this.
-I like this Minene filler. More Minene is never a bad thing.
-Yuno is bouncy~
-Great conversation starter Yukkii /sarcasm
-Adorable Yuno is adorable.
-I'm REALLY liking this filler they're adding.
-Yukkii just "fucked up" everything. I wonder how many people will figure out Yuno's secret by themselves before it's revealed. Hell, I wonder if that's possible without them animating Paradox (which they really should, even if just as extras on the DVD).

Spoilers
I figured it out the second they introduced the second thing the winner could do. Being vague to protect looky-loos.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out what she was singing at the beginning (I only watch raws if I can). I happened to watch this episode subbed and... well, that explains it. It's nonsense.

This show is not good for my heart. I actually was about to throw up in that scene in episode three. And then... D:
What kind of throw up? Disgusted throw up, moe overload throw up, ecstasy throw up? I need to know if I should add this to my 3 episode watch list.

Watched the first 3 episodes, so many bombs dropped so far. Can't wait to read this thread in a few months.

Ep 3

Damn, the amusement park was a lot more heartwarming than in the manga. Then all hell breaks loose, :lol

Glad I read the manga. Knowing the significance of what is in the room and all the foreshadowing involved makes this a great series to reread/watch.

It isn't hard hard to figure out unless they throw a curveball.

Yukki hints that
those are her parent's bodies. I'm guessing Yuno killed them.

Episode 4

Maybe I shouldnt watch this at night, episode 3s end and episode 4 just creeped me out.
Feels like it got even darker than it already was, at only episode 4 I just cant imagine how much further they can take it with followers killing each other. I like main character and Clairvoyance.
