Most people are unaware that the balancing poses in yoga are used therapeutically to help overcome extreme shyness and social phobia.
In fact, they are also recommended for other related issues such as stuttering, anxiety, neuroses and hyperactivity amongst children.

What is even better is that there is a scientific basis for all of this. The part of the brain called the cerebellum (also referred to as the `little brain') is involved in maintaining our physical balance. It was recently established that the cerebellum also has much to do with an individual's social balance -- it plays an active role in the expression of our social selves.

Recent research also shows that chemical imbalances in the cerebellum could well be linked to social problems we face, such as an inability to maintain a meaningful conversation, or failure at sustaining relationships with others.

Just do it every day for 5-10 minutes

Haven't done yoga in a while, that said I can still kick ass at balance poses, gonna try these.

"Importantly, since balancing poses also require you to work out both sides of your body equally, they harmonise the left and right hemispheres of our brain. These represent the logical and the creative sides of our personality respectively.

When these two sides are in harmony, we are able to see the holistic picture. This, in turn, defines and strengthens our psycho-socio profiles."

Uh huh.

"What is even better is that there is a scientific basis for all of this."
I also enjoy how a (kind of maybe plausible) scientific basis is presented as some sort of added bonus.

At first I thought bullshit, and I still kind of think bullshit-like, but there's the part of me that also says "hey, the brain is like a muscle, and maybe working out your cerebellum might optimize it a bit".

Working out any part of your brain is often a good thing so I think I'll give this a shot.

Ludacris.

I doubt these will actually have any effect the problems they claim to address, but yoga feels nice and I'm going to try these stretches anyway.

I think when you fart during the downward facing dog all sorts of social quirks you have will have disappeared.

Tony Horton says it's an "internal massage of the central nervous system".
After having done P90X and Yoga X, I'm certainly not going to disagree.

Please, go on.

For timedog.

Serious fuckin' brain poison going on in the OP.

Yoga makes you feel good man..

Give it a shot and keep doing it.

Yep. I started doing it six months ago, and I could not stop if I wanted to. Doing it while you are sick (flu? or a simple cold? I dunno) is kinda hard, but even then it is rewarding :D

The first half is possible the worst part of the whole program, its just crazy.

It becomes much easier after a few times. You have to will your way thru it the first month, after that your strength will be much better and it is a lot easier to finish.
