Apparently Just Cause 2 sold very well.

'Just Cause: Scorpion Rising' Video Game Adaptation Taps Writer (Exclusive)

Bryan Edward Hill has been tapped to rewrite Just Cause: Scorpion Rising, the adaptation of the hit video game being produced by Adrian Askarieh and Eric Eisner.

Just Cause hails from Square Enix, the home of the Tomb Raider and Hitman video games, and centers on a black ops agent codenamed the Scorpion who enters a guerilla war to overthrow a dictator. Just Cause 2 was released earlier this year and sold more than 3.5 million copies; a third game is now in development.

The movie will focus on the origin of the Scorpion, aka Rico Rodriguez

Askarieh and Eisner, who wil produce via their respective companies Prime Universe Productions and Double E Pictures, are packaging and developing the project before taking it to studios and financiers. Michael Ross (Touristas) wrote the first draft.

The most amount of hours I ever put in an open world game. Mods like multi-rope and strong rope added infinite possibilities for awesome. If JC3 is an improved more of the same, I will totally even get it day one for full price this time.

In a perfect world Just Cause and Saints Row will start some sort of insane sequel arms race to create the most batshit crazy open world game ever made.

I think Just Cause 2 was super boring. If you want crazy open world Saints Row 3 is a way better game.

Making a movie out of this game just seems absurd...

I know I am alone in this but I would prefer it to be a little less silly and a little more realistic.

The story was silly to the point of boring, I would certainly be okay with a slightly more serious tone in general, with some better acting and dialog. The story was just painful to go through.

One of the best open world games this generation, I'm glad it did so well.

If they could somehow make JC3 co-op, that would rock my world.

Also I liked the story, plus it didn't get in the way of the fun which is a major issue with modern games.

Just Cause 3?

My heart says "yes", and my brain says "fuck yes". I just hope there's more of everything. Grappling hook upgrades would be plenty awesome. :D

I, for one, thought it was Just Dance 2.

Personally, I wanted gorgeous open world with interesting, fun mechanics and spectacular scenery to view. The setting is a hell of a lot more interesting and attractive than any GTA or Saint's Row game. Jet surfing is just a bonus.

also I can't understand why they "write" the movive. They should just start shooting it.

JC2 rewards creativity in craziness, SR3 is like GTA4 with bizzare weapons and vehicles, JC2 is more like "I just attached 10 motorcycles to a Jet plane, took off, jumped on top of the jet, went into a bike, and flipped around on it while the jet came crashing down".

SR3 has way better missions, but for dicking around sandbox style, JC2's gigantic world and destruction I find to be more fun.

Street Sharks are fucking awesome, but don't allow a lot of variety.

I'm glad to hear this. At some point it seemed the game wasent going to have the sales it deserved. Great to hear they are making a sequel.

The world and grapling mechanics were great but I hope they really improve the other gameplay mechanics, mission design and enemy A.I design for the nest game.

I'm the exact opposite. I've double dipped and bought all the DLC for JC2 on both 360 and PC yet can't even get into SR3 (not that it's bad, just didn't hook me).

I hope they improve on the story, honestly ... that's the only flaw I found with JC2.

JC3? O happy day!

I love JC2 on both the PC and PS3. I still keep the demo installed on the PS3 and often play it when I just want a taste between games.

I really need to go back and play Saboteur though. i picked it up on the cheap in the midst of my JC2 addiction and I tried it out but had no fun due to no grappling hook.

Bought and finished it earlier this year, fantastic game and well deserved, even though the writing and story were absolutely atrocious.

It was a long time since I saw a sentence being so wrong and so correct at the same time

whatever, Just Cause 3? A likely buy. Avalanche is an awesome studio.

A movie? Worst idea ever.

JC3? Best idea ever.

I have no idea how they can increase the scope and be more ridiculous, but I hope they manage it. A non-tropical setting might be nice after two games, too.

Adore JC2. The actual quests themselves are sort of whatever - I don't think I ever beat the game, actually - but the over the top nonsense you can get yourself into is hysterical. So much fuckin' around fun to be had.

I wonder if we'll get any Bolo Santosi cameos in 3.

A movie? ......

If they can keep the action as good as the game and the story to at least 80's action movie level, I'd watch it.

That said, there'll need to be a massive upgrade in writing talent to reach that point.

I thought that JC2 in particular had some good biomes. Desert and mountains that would make you forget all about the islands.

I think more of those sales are outside USA, I didn't like the demo, but some people on here were saying it was good I picked it up and after giving it a second chance loved it, great fun, will buy Just Cause 3.

the grappling hook IS the game. i can't see it being used too well on film without being cheesy. but without it, meh. unless they get the guy that directed the move The Losers, i'm not that interested.
