PREORDER THE VALENTINE'S BUNDLE
You can now blind pre-order Indie Royale's Valentine's Bundle at a recommended €/£/$10 or €/£/$5 USD contribution, and a minimum of $3.99 USD.

The games offered this time include a fantastical first-person action-adventure game (Steam for PC), an IGF-nominated puzzle adventure title (Steam for PC and Mac, Desura for PC and Linux, DRM-free PC, Mac and Linux download), a 'scorching' single and multiplayer arcade-strategy game (Steam for PC and Mac), and a world premiere on PC for a pair of retro RPG-defense games (Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download).

Those who optionally pre-order now will get game access as soon as the bundle launches, lock in the lowest price, and receive as a bonus One Life Left's eclectic 'Music To Play Games By Too' compilation, available for the first time ever digitally (this bonus is also available to those who pay more than the minimum price during the bundle.)

The Valentine's Bundle will launch fully later this week at $3.99 USD and up - watch our Twitter feed or Facebook page for immediate notice at launch time.

By the wording of the press release, it sounds like the preorder price and the launch price are the same. That's a much welcomed change.

Now, on to guessing the games:

1) a fantastical first-person action-adventure game (Steam for PC)
----------- May be Zeno Clash, as guessed by allansm.

2) an IGF-nominated puzzle adventure title (Steam for PC and Mac, Desura for PC and Linux, DRM-free PC, Mac and Linux download)
----------- May be Lume, as guessed by Fare Godmace or Eversion, as guessed by eldoon.

3) a 'scorching' single and multiplayer arcade-strategy game (Steam for PC and Mac)
----------- May be Hoard, as guessed by YianGaruga in the Steam Thread

4) a world premiere on PC for a pair of retro RPG-defense games (Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download)
----------- May be Soulcaster I and Soulcaster II., as guessed by a user on the Penny Arcade Forum.

Anyone have any ideas? I'll try to keep the OP updated with the best guesses.

I still don't really understand the point of preordering. Yea, I get a free music OST that I'll be unlikely to ever listen to, wow. And on top that preordering blind?

It's just that besides for the first and second bundles, their servers have been pretty solid, negating the need for a preorder.

Yeah, there was never a really good reason to preorder before because they added $1 on to the launch price. But now they're apparently launching at the preorder price. So you at least get the benefit of getting the lowest possible price if you know you won't be near a computer.

I think the last bundle actually never dipped below the preorder price.

Do you mean the Serious Sam lightning bundle? Or the New Year's Bundle? There was never a preorder for the Serious Same bundle and I can confirm that the New Year's Bundle was below the preorder price for a good while (I mean, I at least bought it for 96 cents less than the preorder).

Crossposting my guesses:

Given that there were supposedly two world premieres but they only list one, and that the bundle is out the same day as Dear Esther, I think that's the FPA.
Yeah, I wish :(
.

The IGF-nomintated puzzle adventure could be Lume, and the third one could be Hoard as you guys said. I loved the Hoard demo on PS3 and I've been this close to buy both Lume and Hoard a couple of times, so if those are the games this suddendly transforms in my favourite Indie Royale yet!

Dear Esther, as you know, is not going to be it. Lume is a strong contender, though. I had guessed that Lume was going to be included in the last major bundle they did myself. There is just something about the game and the Indie Royale that makes sense.

I think the first-person action-adventure game is Zeno Clash.

Yeah, this is definitely the strongest guess for the first one thus far.

How about a link to the actual page lol

I don't want to actually have to type it into my browser.

Lume is an absolute bullshit game that looks nice at first, but is ultimately 30 minutes long and finishes on a cliffhanger. The game isn't finished, leaves you with a 'trailer' and the promise of "future episodes of Lume".

The episodes are still coming. Yeah, it's short but overall the experience was good.

Yeah, Zeno Clash was also a IGF finalist, and they said that there were going to be two IGF nominees. The two world-premieres would be the "pair of retro RPG-defense games", then. Sounds good to me!

Anyways, I asked them on Twitter if the price could go lower than the preorder price. I know it couldn't go lower than the starting price in previous bundles, but since it more expensive this time I wondered if they could have changed the minimum as well. This is what they answered:

Indie Royale said:
@FareGodmace the price will not go lower than 3.99. Paying more will help lower or sustain the minimum, though!

I'd say that is a very good reason to preorder, I'm doing it right now. Let's hope our predictions aren't too off...

Unrelated, but Iron Brigade better end up on Steam soon, preferably around Valentine's Day. It is, after all, a game about love.

Eh, so far the games haven't been as good as the HIB and the preorder gimmick always turns me off. The bundles get hype when they're first announced but because of that I rarely see the actual bundle on time.

Cool. Zeno Clash and Hoard always looked like games that I'd like to have rotting in my Steam games list, but I never actually bought them.

Two world exclusive pc debuts apparently.

- Still working on a bunch of other work projects, of course, with Indie Royale still differentiating itself well from a lot of the other ‘me-too’ bundles (there’s two IGF nominees and two world-exclusive PC debuts in the upcoming Valentine’s Bundle, for example), and Gamasutra still dominating the online B2B game site conversation in a multitide of ways. _And_ there’s a Game Developer magazine site redesign and iOS app up, too.

Thanks for getting the confirmation from them! I like this system more than when they were charging less at launch.

Are they releasing the package at the same price as the pre-order? It's been only 5 minutes and the price is already at 4.02...

I bought it (twice as usual, once for me and once for my cousin), but... I already have Hoard and Zeno Clash...

Maybe I should've just bought one copy and gave her the extra keys.

Oh well.

Soulcaster looks pretty good, but no Steam... bummer

Yeah, they've raised the minimum purchase price to $3.99 (to match the pre-order price). i guess they did that to take away one of the disincentives to pre-ordering.

No wonder. I bought it as soon as I saw the Twitter popup and it was 3.99$. Then I saw that they had sold something like 5000 copies already and it occurred to me that this is reaching the Humble Bundle levels of popularity.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of those 5,000 copies were sales from pre-orders.

Funnily enough I think I may skip this bundle.

I'll contact a mod to update the title of the thread.

Yeah, that. I manage a thread for the bundle on another site, you've probably never heard of it, and watch these pretty closely. This one actually seems to be moving a little slower than normal.

Kinda wanted to play Zeno Clash and Hoard, and Lume looks pretty good, so it's a buy from me. Not too sure on Soulcaster though.

Already got Zeno Clash and Hoard, was not interested in buying Lume for 75 % off during the winter sale. And I don't care for PC games that are not on Steam, so no sale for me.

I will say that Zeno Clash is totally worth the asking price of this bundle alone. So if you don't own a few of these games, or even just that specific game, pick this bundle up.

Me too. I own ZC, Hoard, and Lume on PC, and I own SoulCaster on XBLIG. D'oh!

Thanks for the title update!

Getting only for Lume.

Zeno Clash key since I already have it: EH227-QWBFQ-0ZPGJ

Edit: Are the Soulcaster games roguelike? Looks nice.

Eh, I preordered but already have all games for Steam... Well at least Lume and Soulcaster are new to me. Will give the Steam keys to my friends probably...

You can get both DLCs for Hoard as well. Without the bundle offer, they are costly.

Moreover, the keys are individual, so you may give all but Lume to someone you like.

Well, I played Hoard exactly twice. During the summer sale for an achievement and this holiday sale again for the same reason. So I don't need DLC for it.

Soulcaster 1 & 2 are two of my favorite XBLIG titles. Wonderful design across the board, and I'm glad to see them getting a wider audience.

Daddy-momma said knock you out, word to your father-mother, etc.

I already own Zeno Clash. The puzzles in Lume look pretty evil. I don't know if that's my bag.

Picked it up for Zeno Clash and the Soulcaster games. Not sure about Lume and Hoard, but I'll give them a try.

I find it kind of odd that people don't beat the minimum. I mean, it's a matter of pennies /:
